This article aims to describe the guiding concept of students conducted by a learning community at Central Java. This learning community has new concept in developing students’ potency. This article is written based on the research conducted by the researchers in komunitas belajar Qaryah Thayyibah (KBQT). The method used in this research is qualitative research method in the form of case study. The result of the research shows that basically the guiding of students at KBQT is conducted based on the behavior of higher order thinking by implementing these things, such as: 1) implementingtargetsystemforallstudents;2)familiarizingthestudentstodiscusswith each other and utter their ideas; and 3) prioritizing the mutual agreements between teacher and student to decide the learning activity. From that activity, this learning community actually tries to develop the potency, interest, and talent of students which are different from each student.

ABSTRACTHigher-order Thinking Skills (HOTS) is a well-known term that is nowadays being discussed among researchers, especially in education contexts. In this globalization era, developing students’ ability to think with HOTS becomes teachers’ challenging task to do. They are responsible to enrich their knowledge about HOTS and update findings and ideas of HOTS implementation in teaching. So, they will be able to implement HOTS in teaching they believe will be ideal and effective to develop students’ HOTS. This research aims to investigate teachers’ knowledge about HOTS and investigate how they implement their knowledge of HOTS in teaching reading classroom. This is a qualitative research with case study as the research design. The data were collected using in-depth interviews followed by observation. The participants of this research are three English teachers from a senior high school who teach different grades. The results of this research show that the teachers’ knowledge of HOTS is still low. They do not understand HOTS conceptually. However, their implementation of HOTS in teaching reading show that they implement HOTS to teach reading that enables students to activate their HOTS. They include the concept of effective HOTS teaching suggested by Fogarty (2009).

Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk melatih guru bahasa Inggris dalam meningkatkan kemampuan high order thinking peserta didik pada skill writing melalui learning community menuju caring community. Pengabdian ini menggunakan rancangan berbasis lesson study yang dilaksanakan di SMAN 2 Peusangan. Subjek pengabdian terdiri dari 1 orang guru bahasa inggris dan peserta didik kelas II IPA 3 yang berjumlah 28 orang. Pelaksanaan pengabdian yaitu tahap pertama melalui workshop kepada guru bahasa inggris untuk sosialisasi pemahaman cara pelaksanaan pembelajaran berbasis lesson study yang dilakukan melalui tiga tahapan, yaitu perencanaan, pelaksanaan dan refleksi. Data yang digunakan dalam pengabdian ini adalah nilai tes peserta didik, observasi, field note dan dokumentasi, data dianalisis secara kualitatif yaitu persentase. Hasil pengabdian dan pelatihan menunjukkan bahwa HOTS (higher order thinking skill)peserta didik meningkat sebesar 90% yang diiringi dengan perubahan peningkatan sikap peserta didik menjadi lebih bertanggung jawab dan menghargai dengan cara saling asah asih dan asuh sebagai wujud caring community. Sedangkan untuk guru telah menunjukkan hasil profesionalisme melalui penerapan lesson study dalam pembelajaran bahasa Inggris.

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penggunaan simulasi virtual untuk meningkatkan Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) siswa pada pembelajaran Fisika. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kuantitatif. Desain yang digunakan yaitu  meta-analisis.  Meta-analisis adalah penelitian yang dilakukan dengan cara merangkum, mereviu dan menganalisis data peneliti dari beberapa hasil penelitian sebelumnya. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara mencari artikel yang berkaitan dengan penggunaan simulasi virtual dan Higher Order Thinking Skill pada jurnal nasional yang terakreditasi pada sinta 1 hingga sinta 4 dan beberapa jurnal internasional bereputasi. Sampel yang digunakan berupa 20 artikel jurnal. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa penggunaan simulasi virtual dapat meningkatkan Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) siswa pada pembelajaran Fisika.Kata  kunci : Meta-analisis, Simulasi Virtual, HOTS, Pembelajaran Fisika ABSTRACT This study aimed to analyze the use of virtual simulations to improve students' Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) in learning Physics. The research method used was a quantitative method. The design used is meta-analysis. Meta-analysis was research conducted by summarizing, reviewing and analyzing researchers' data from several previous research results. Data collection was done by searching for articles relating to the use of virtual simulations and Higher Order Thinking Skills in national journals that are accredited in SINTA 1 to SINTA 4 and several reputable international journals. The sample used was in the form of 20 journal articles. This paper examines the community-based ecotourism on Yim Tin Tsai which is a representative example of Hong Kong’s responsible management. The island presents a local community of the explored saltpan and natural resources. The research draws upon criticism of ecotourism in Yim Tin Tsai as a way of understanding the importance of balancing nature with the economic interests. As adopting a qualitative research method for the case study, the experience and thoughts reflected by the local resident of will be also analyzed.

This research is motivated by the lack of varied use of instructional media that influences the learning outcomes and the high-level thinking of student. The purpose of this research is to determine the effectiveness of film footage with QR-code application in understanding biographical text in SMKN 1 Simpang Rimba, South Bangka. The underlying theory is the theory of learning approaches and instructional media related to Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS). This research method uses One-Shot Case Study. The research data in the form of pretest and posttest data is understanding biographical text in formative test with HOTS questions and questionnaire. The result of research is the recognition of film footage with QR code more effective in learning to understand biographical text and it can help students to think higher or to think critically

This study aims to analyze and evaluate the implementation of gijzeling. This study also analyzes whether there are differences in impacts before and after the implementation of gijzeling on taxpayer compliance who is subject to gijzeling action, and analyzes whether the implementation of gijzeling provides deterrent effect for taxpayers subject to gijzeling action and other taxpayers in terms of taxpayer compliance and disbursement of tax arrears in Regional Office of DGT Central Java I. The data obtained were analyzed using a descriptive qualitative research method with a case study approach to answering the research question. The result of the research concludes that the implementation of gijzeling has been run in accordance with the provisions of the law, although in the field process, there are some adaptations and development, but still based on the procedures and rules. The implementation of gijzeling also made 100% liquid tax arrears for taxpayers subject to gijzeling action, while the application of gijzeling also proved to create a deterrent effect for other taxpayers who are in 1 group of companies that have tax arrears. The implementation of gijzeling in 2016 has not had any impact on tax arrears through other active collection.

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan agar guru biologi SMA di Kabupaten Bekasi dapat terampil mengembangkan soal HOTS. Guru sebagai peserta kegiatan pelatihan yang diundang dalam kegiatan merupakan perwakilan dari anggota MGMP Biologi yang tersebar dari beberapa beberapa wilayah di Kabupaten Bekasi yang diwakili oleh guru pada masing-masing Kecamatan. Kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat memberikan manfaat kepada guru tentang pelatihan pengembangan soal HOTS yang sesuai dengan keterampilan abad 21. Model kegiatan pelatihan dilaksanakan melalui 10 (sepuluh) tahap, yaitu: (1) brain storming atau curah pendapat ceramah dan tanya jawab tentang konsep penulisan soal HOTs, (2) mengerjakan pekerjaan rumah berupa 1 soal subyektif dan 1 soal obyektif, (3) pendalaman konsep HOTs, (4) penulisan 1 soal obyektif dan 1 soal subyektif secara individual, (5) pembentukan kelompok yang terdiri dari 5-8 guru dan saling menukarkan soal, (6) masing-masing guru menelaah berdasarkan instrument yang telah disediakan, (7) kelompok memilih soal yang paling HOTs dan meranking mulai HOTs, MOTs, dan LOTs, (8) presentasi oleh masing-masing kelompok berdasarkan hasil telaahnya, (9) kelompok lain memberikan tanggapan berkaitan dengan HOTs atau tidaknya soal, (10) penguatan dari narasumber untuk masing-masing kelompok.Kata kunci: Higher order thinking skill, HOTS, guru biologi, kabupaten Bekasi.

Kepulauan Riau merupakan provinsi yang terdiri dari beberapa pulau diantaranya Pulau Batam, Pulau Bintan dan Pulau Karimun. Modal sosial merupakan serangkaian nilai dan norma informal yang dimiliki oleh kelompok masyarat dalam membagun kerjasamanya. Lingkup penelitian pada pembahasan ini adalah terfokus pada pengaruh modal sosial terhadap perkembangan pariwisata di Kepulauan Riau dalam hal ini Pulau Batam, Pulau Bintan, dan Pulau Karimun. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian ini dikondisikan sebagai penelitian kualitatif melalui strategi studi kasus. Sistem pendekatan yang digunakan juga merupakan pendekatan deskriptif analitik. Melakukan pengamatan langsung, mengumpulkan data-data kemudian menghubungkannya dengan kajian teori yang digunakan. Lokus penelitian ini terdapat di Kepulauan Riau dengan melihat pengaruh modal sosial pada perkembangan pariwisata di ketiga pulau yaitu Pulau Batam, Pulau Bintan dan Pulau Karimun. Berdasarkan hasil survey yang saya lakukan di Kepulauan Riau, terutama pada ketiga pulau yaitu Pulau Batam, Pulau Bintan, dan Pulau Karimun, dari ketiga pulau tersebut ternyata pada Pulau Karimun perkembangan pariwisatanya tidak terlalu berkembang karena masyarakat yang tidak menerima adanya wisatawan terutama wisatawan mancanegara. Riau Islands is a province consisting of several islands including Batam Island, Bintan Island and Karimun Island. Social capital is a set of informal values ​​and norms that are owned by community groups in building cooperation. The scope of research in this discussion is focused on the influence of social capital on the development of tourism in the Riau Islands, in this case Batam Island, Bintan Island, and Karimun Island. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research. This research is conditioned as qualitative research through a case study strategy. The system approach used is also a descriptive analytic approach. Make direct observations, collect data and then relate it to the study of the theories used. The locus of this research is in the Riau Islands by looking at the influence of social capital on the development of tourism in the three islands, namely Batam Island, Bintan Island and Karimun Island. Based on the results of a survey I conducted in the Riau Islands, especially on the three islands, namely Batam Island, Bintan Island, and Karimun Island, of the three islands, it turns out that on Karimun Island the development of tourism is not very developed because people do not accept tourists, especially foreign tourists.

This study is aimed at (1) analyzing reading exercises based Bloom’s taxonomy for VIII grade in English on Sky textbook. (2) Found the distribution of the lower and higher order thinking skill in reading exercises. (3) To reason for level reading exercises. After analyzed the data, the result of the data analysis also infers that the six levels of Bloom’s taxonomy in reading exercises weren’t applied totally. The creating skill doesn’t have distribution in reading exercise, and the understanding – remembering level more dominant than another levels. The distribution of the higher order thinking level was lower than the lower order thinking level and the six levels are not appropriate with the proportion for each level of education based Bloom’s taxonomy, such as the distribution of the creating level in the reading exercise must be a concern because no question that belong to the creating level. It was concluded that reading exercises in English on Sky textbook cannot improve students' critical thinking skills for VIII grade.
