AbstractThis article is the partial result of a research mapping work of problems, approaches and objects that contemplate the dialogue between history and theater, that start specially from the brazilian case. In this first stage, we seek to reflect on theater as a specific language (no longer considered a subgenre of literature) and equally complex (not restricted to dramaturgy). Based on these assumptions, we try to think of it as an object of historical research contemplating issues related to sources, to theoretical and methodological references, to historiography and its internal dynamics (the pieces, the reenactment etc.) and external relations (with the State, governments etc.). In a second stage, we intend to continue the research on theater in post-history graduate programs and, based on this, to define the main lines of brazilian academic production at this intersection.

The new epicyclic gear unit for the large Centaur gas turbine at 4600 hp employs the proven design features of the smaller epicyclic gear unit for the Saturn gas turbine. Hundreds of the Saturn units (at 1100 hp, 22,300–1800 rpm) are now in service. The reliability has been exceptionally good. Many units have now run more than 20,000 hr. The new gear unit is a “star compound” arrangement instead of the star first stage, planetary second stage used with the Saturn. The star compound arrangement is new to the gas turbine power field. Certain unique arrangement details are involved. The resulting design has fewer parts and is easier to assemble and disassemble than more conventional high-ratio epicyclic gear designs used in steam and gas turbine applications. Perhaps more important, the new design is very compact and it facilitates a much more integrated package of gas turbine, gear unit, and generator than has been seen so far in the gas turbine industry at this power rating. The testing of this unit reveals new insights into the internal dynamics of an epicyclic gear system.

This presentation highlights the nucleation of St. Louis’s ancient indigenous population into a place we refer to as Cahokia mounds. Important to its creation are not only understanding the nature of internal dynamics within the region but also the external relations between both places and other peoples. This allows us to address not only the broader context of Cahokia’s creation as an urban center and its subsequent urbanism but also the rapid nature of change throughout its history.

The article is devoted to the research of Russian initiatives concerning its participation in international system of Internet governance. In the research, conceptual and theoretic basis for participation of state governments in Internet governance is given, academic discourse of this issue is assessed, the review of main Russian initiatives made from 2005 (since the second stage of the World Summit on Information Society) till the present day is carried out. The conclusion is made that the most successful Internet governance initiative of Russia is the implementation of cyrillic top level domains. Much less successful are Russian attempts to reconstruct existing organizational structure of Internet governance. Russian policy is assessed as a policy of preferring loud statements and PR rather than real influence on development of Internet technologies. Russia consideres Internet as political resource and tries to increase its influence on decision making process on a political, not operational level of Internet governance. The author states that federal government of the United States of America has fully lost the control on the domain name systems. These functions are going to be given to the private sector, while ICANN, which was established according to the Memorandum of Understanding/Joint Project Agreement with U.S. Department of Commerce, is becoming a truly independent international organization. Considering this, the author comes to the conclusion that political transformations for the sake of Russia are already made. He also forecast that next initiatives of Russia will be directed to the segmentation of the Internet.

Departing from the assumption that exonyms, in the sense of »names used in a specific language for a geographical feature situated outside the area where that language is spoken and differing in its form from the name used in an official or well-established language of the area where the geographical feature is situated« (UN Glossary definition 2007), are indicators of external historical as well as current political, cultural, and economic relations of a community, the article investigates the case of Croatian exonyms as documented by the recently published editions of Ivana Crljenko (2016, 2018). For comparison, (Austrian-)German, Hungarian and Italian exonyms are also examined in this respect. In essence, the assumption is found to also be confirmed by the Croatian case, although several linguistic factors distort the picture. The article also reveals the weaknesses of the current UN Glossary definitions of the terms »exonym« and »endonym«.

This article proposes an analysis of the academic production of History of Education in the Brazilian Amazon, based on the thesis and dissertations defended at Education and History Post Graduate Programs of the region, from its foundation until 2014. The objective is to take a critical exam of the regional structuring of the field in the conceptual perspective of the institutional production place . Research topics, documentary corpus, periodization and theoretical-methodological contributions were the categories observed in this work. We also considered other balance sheets carried out in national and regional groups, which served as benchmarks. In this context, it was formulated a partial balance on a production related to its institutional development, geographically marked, and a construction of a proper epistemological tradition in the region, in a dialogue with consolidated traditions of other regions of the country (mainly the Southeast), in the diverse, unequal and interchanging composition of research in the History of Education in Brazil.

The aim of the article was to find, scientifically define and locate the most frequent occurrences of the Late Renaissance garden units of the Carpathian Basin. This article - as partial result of a research work entitled "Castle Garden Inventory in the Carpathian Basin" and conducted by teachers and students of the Faculty of Landscape Architecture and Urbanism of Szent István University, Budapest - aims to identify through historical research, on-site visits and assessments the current status of 148 Late Renaissance residency gardens located in seven different countries of the Carpathian Basin (Austria, Hungary, Slovakia, Ukraine, Romania, Croatia and Slovenia). Based on the archival and literary sources as well as the field studies carried out, we defined the spatial distribution of Late Renaissance residential gardens, we delineated six very characteristic Late Renaissance garden units and we defined the most typical Late Renaissance garden features for the region. At the same time, we explored and documented still existing values of garden history at some locations from the Renaissance era.

The environment and interdisciplinarity: challenges to the academic world Abstract Academic production of knowledge in the past two centuries was marked by a clear specialization trend. The environmental issue, seen through the lenses of sustainable development, having currently acquired a considerable importance, introduces significant changes in this scenario and points to the need for an interdisciplinary approach (de-specialization). Using examples taken from the Brazilian scientific production, based on data provided by CNPq and Capes, this text draws a profile of graduate programs addressing the environmental issue, nationwide. A critical analysis of the process is highlighted, as well as the important limitations and challenges incurred in building this new field of knowledge.
