This study investigates the use of Translanguaging as a Pedagogical Strategy by an EFL teacher in terms of interaction between the teacher and the students in teaching and learning process. It focuses to explore in what situation, do the practices of translanguaging which go on in EFL classroom. This study applied qualitative method. Two meetings of classroom observations were recorded by using audio recorder. Also, a teacher and ten students were interviewed after the classroom observation. The recordings and interviews were transcribed and analyzed based on in what situation, do the the practices of translanguaging go on in EFL classroom. In the research findings there were three kinds of languages namely English as the Foreign language, Indonesia as the national language, and Konjo as the local language that used by the teacher and students in practice of translanguaging during teaching and learning process in EFL Classroom. Therefore, the researcher found that the teacher used translanguaging in seven situations during teaching process. And students used translanguaging in six situations during the teaching and learning process.

This article discusses the importance of vision and mission of the Islamic Education Lecturers (IELs) in teaching and learning (TnL). This study was fully conducted through qualitative method via case study. Six IELs were selected as participants and willing to be interviewed, and the data from the interview were supported by three Heads of Islamic Education Unit, 12 lecturers and 12 students. The data were triangulated with the data obtained through observation and document analysis. The data were analysed through N’Vivo software to generate a pattern of themes and characteristics of the vision and mission in TnL. The result found that there were six elements of vision and mission emphasized by the IELs in TnL. Five of them had formed a pattern. That five elements were; students receiving and appreciating, TnL objective achieved, spreading da’wah, moulding students attidtude and thinking, and achieving success in the world and the hereafter. Therefore, a model which is named as Model of the Vision and Mission Practice for the Excellent Islamic Education Lecturers was deloped. From the overall view, the emphasis on achieving mission and vision helps the IELs to successfully conduct TnL inside and outside classroom.

This research aimed to find out the good EFL adult learners learning strategies in acquiring the foreign language and how the learning strategies affect the leaners achievement at Universitas Muhammadiyah Parepare. The method used in this research was qualitative method. The instrument were an interview and audio recorder. The participant of the research were the graduate students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Parepare within the age of 25-65 as one of the criteria of adult learners. The result of the research showed that the learning strategies applied by the learner were direct and indirect strategy. Direct strategy covered memory related strategy, cognitive strategy and compensatory strategy while metacognitive strategy, affective strategy and social strategy were included in indirect strategy.

This study was aimed at analyzing and interpreting the instructional media existing in the classical period of the Hindu - Buddhist kingdoms. The object of the study was inscriptions found on the Semeru Slope, inclduing Widodaren, Pasrujambe, and Gerba. This study employed a qualitative method with an archeological-historical framework. The data was collected through a literature review and in-situ research of the inscriptions. The collected data was analyzed using a structural analysis in the forms of transliteration of the contents and meaning written at the inscriptions. The study found that there is evidence of the use of instructional media in teaching process. This finding is also supported by the Nāgarakṛtâgama and Bujaņga Manik manuscripts which narrate educational and moral values as one of the characteristics of instructional media. In addition, the instructional media serve as a tool support the teaching and learning process at that time.

<p>This research investigates the use of code-switching by the teacher in English class of SMP Negeri 4 Surakarta in the academic year 2015/2016. The subject of this research is the English teacher and the students of three classes in grade VII. The focus of this research is the teacher's code-switching covering the types, reasons/motivations, and the functions of code-switching. This research uses a qualitative method in the form of case study. Furthermore, the technique of analyzing data used in this research is interactive model consists of data reduction, data display, and conclusion/verification. The data in this research are teachers’ utterances, students’ utterances, and interview statements that are obtained from observation and interview. The implementation of code-switching in SMP Negeri 4 is a common practice since it brings an advantage to English teaching and learning process.</p>

<p><strong>Abstract:</strong> This study aims to give information related to the implementation of scientific approach in thematic instruction integrated to Curriculum 2013 at Elementary School stage. Several aspects in the implementation of scientific approach are as follows: (1) planning the scientific lesson, (2) teaching and learning process, (3) evaluating, and (4) valuing the lesson using scientific approach in thematic instruction. This is a qualitative method research using case study approach. The data analysis used several instruments such as data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The result of this study showed that the implementation of scientific approach met several obstacles.</p><strong>Abstrak:</strong> Penulisan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan informasi tentang penerapan pendekatan scientific dalam pembelajaran tematik terpadu pada kurikulum 2013 di Sekolah Dasar. Pelaksanaan pendekatan <em>scientific,</em> yakni pada aspek-aspek (1) perencanaan pembelajaran <em>scientific</em>, (2) proses pembelajaran, (3) evaluasi, dan (4) kebermaknaan pembelajaran dengan pendekatan <em>scientific</em> dalam pembelajaran tematik. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian studi kasus. Data hasil penelitian ini diolah dengan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan verifikasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelaksanaan pembelajaran <em>scientific </em>terdapat beberapa kendala.

<p>This study emphasizes the use of language shift in the English language teaching classroom. Language shift is a common phenomenon in multilingual conversations, in this case, in the teaching and learning process in language classrooms. The purposes of the study are to find out the use and the roles of language shift in EFL classrooms, how the roles contributed to the Teaching English as Foreign Language in the EFL, and how the language shift affects the process of teaching and in the EFL classroom. The study employed a qualitative approach by using interview and classroom observations as the instruments of the research. The study was a case study in the teaching and learning process of Grammar III to the second-grade students of English department in Universitas Galuh Ciamis. The findings of the study revealed that using language shift while learning and teaching English is useful in the process of teaching and learning English as a foreign language, in this case in the subject of Grammar III subject; and that code-switching as one of the kinds of language shift is necessary and inevitable in language classrooms.</p>

Bahasa Indonesia both orally and in writing that have rules of order in order to be used effectively. Foreign speakers are part of the Indonesian language learners because Indonesian becomes a foreign language for the learner. In the learning process found various errors. The purpose of this research is to explain and describe Indonesian language by foreign speaker, youtuber from Brazil. This research uses descriptive qualitative method with approach. The data source used video from youtube. Technique of data completion using note note. Then, the data is compiled by mistake. The results of the study indicate the existence of language errors at the level of phonology and morphology.

During covid-19 pandemic, teachers need to change the activity from a face-to-face into distance learning activity. There may many methods and media used by the teacher, one of them is video. One of the aims is to assist teachers in explaining the material and attracting students' interest. Hence, this study aims to find out the benefits of the use video in teaching and learning activity in pandemic situation. In this study, the researchers investigated what the benefit of the use of video for English learning as perceived by students in Covid-19 pandemic situation. the researchers used qualitative method in this research. The instruments used in this study are questionnaire and interview. The researchers took the data from two classes, which were XI KI I and XI KI III of SMK SMTI Bandarlampung.The research findings shows that students had positive experience when using  video as medium in teaching and learning English as a foreign language. Moreover, most of the students agreed that video gives the advantages to the students, such as the increasing of motivation in learning, acquiring new vocabularies, and improving the pronunciation of Englsih words. Students have their own expectations in the teaching and learning process in the classroom. Students’ expectations are also one of the important things that the lecturer should know and do to get a good outcome. The purpose of this study is to identify students’ expectations in the teaching and learning process in English class. This study uses a qualitative method. To collect the data, the researchers used observation and semi-interview methods. Observation was carried out to investigate the students’ and lecturer’s activities in the classroom, while interview was used to examine the students’ expectation related to the use of English in the future, the content of English subject, and their learning style. Seventh students in the first semester of the undergraduate Management Department became the participants of this study. The result of the study shows that all students expect that they would learn all skills of English as well as grammar and pronunciation. They also believe that they would get good jobs if they could master English well.
