This study was aimed at analyzing and interpreting the instructional media existing in the classical period of the Hindu - Buddhist kingdoms. The object of the study was inscriptions found on the Semeru Slope, inclduing Widodaren, Pasrujambe, and Gerba. This study employed a qualitative method with an archeological-historical framework. The data was collected through a literature review and in-situ research of the inscriptions. The collected data was analyzed using a structural analysis in the forms of transliteration of the contents and meaning written at the inscriptions. The study found that there is evidence of the use of instructional media in teaching process. This finding is also supported by the Nāgarakṛtâgama and Bujaņga Manik manuscripts which narrate educational and moral values as one of the characteristics of instructional media. In addition, the instructional media serve as a tool support the teaching and learning process at that time.

This article discusses the importance of vision and mission of the Islamic Education Lecturers (IELs) in teaching and learning (TnL). This study was fully conducted through qualitative method via case study. Six IELs were selected as participants and willing to be interviewed, and the data from the interview were supported by three Heads of Islamic Education Unit, 12 lecturers and 12 students. The data were triangulated with the data obtained through observation and document analysis. The data were analysed through N’Vivo software to generate a pattern of themes and characteristics of the vision and mission in TnL. The result found that there were six elements of vision and mission emphasized by the IELs in TnL. Five of them had formed a pattern. That five elements were; students receiving and appreciating, TnL objective achieved, spreading da’wah, moulding students attidtude and thinking, and achieving success in the world and the hereafter. Therefore, a model which is named as Model of the Vision and Mission Practice for the Excellent Islamic Education Lecturers was deloped. From the overall view, the emphasis on achieving mission and vision helps the IELs to successfully conduct TnL inside and outside classroom.

<p>This research investigates the use of code-switching by the teacher in English class of SMP Negeri 4 Surakarta in the academic year 2015/2016. The subject of this research is the English teacher and the students of three classes in grade VII. The focus of this research is the teacher's code-switching covering the types, reasons/motivations, and the functions of code-switching. This research uses a qualitative method in the form of case study. Furthermore, the technique of analyzing data used in this research is interactive model consists of data reduction, data display, and conclusion/verification. The data in this research are teachers’ utterances, students’ utterances, and interview statements that are obtained from observation and interview. The implementation of code-switching in SMP Negeri 4 is a common practice since it brings an advantage to English teaching and learning process.</p>

<p><strong>Abstract:</strong> This study aims to give information related to the implementation of scientific approach in thematic instruction integrated to Curriculum 2013 at Elementary School stage. Several aspects in the implementation of scientific approach are as follows: (1) planning the scientific lesson, (2) teaching and learning process, (3) evaluating, and (4) valuing the lesson using scientific approach in thematic instruction. This is a qualitative method research using case study approach. The data analysis used several instruments such as data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The result of this study showed that the implementation of scientific approach met several obstacles.</p><strong>Abstrak:</strong> Penulisan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan informasi tentang penerapan pendekatan scientific dalam pembelajaran tematik terpadu pada kurikulum 2013 di Sekolah Dasar. Pelaksanaan pendekatan <em>scientific,</em> yakni pada aspek-aspek (1) perencanaan pembelajaran <em>scientific</em>, (2) proses pembelajaran, (3) evaluasi, dan (4) kebermaknaan pembelajaran dengan pendekatan <em>scientific</em> dalam pembelajaran tematik. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian studi kasus. Data hasil penelitian ini diolah dengan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan verifikasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelaksanaan pembelajaran <em>scientific </em>terdapat beberapa kendala.

This study investigates the use of Translanguaging as a Pedagogical Strategy by an EFL teacher in terms of interaction between the teacher and the students in teaching and learning process. It focuses to explore in what situation, do the practices of translanguaging which go on in EFL classroom. This study applied qualitative method. Two meetings of classroom observations were recorded by using audio recorder. Also, a teacher and ten students were interviewed after the classroom observation. The recordings and interviews were transcribed and analyzed based on in what situation, do the the practices of translanguaging go on in EFL classroom. In the research findings there were three kinds of languages namely English as the Foreign language, Indonesia as the national language, and Konjo as the local language that used by the teacher and students in practice of translanguaging during teaching and learning process in EFL Classroom. Therefore, the researcher found that the teacher used translanguaging in seven situations during teaching process. And students used translanguaging in six situations during the teaching and learning process.

Students have their own expectations in the teaching and learning process in the classroom. Students’ expectations are also one of the important things that the lecturer should know and do to get a good outcome. The purpose of this study is to identify students’ expectations in the teaching and learning process in English class. This study uses a qualitative method. To collect the data, the researchers used observation and semi-interview methods. Observation was carried out to investigate the students’ and lecturer’s activities in the classroom, while interview was used to examine the students’ expectation related to the use of English in the future, the content of English subject, and their learning style. Seventh students in the first semester of the undergraduate Management Department became the participants of this study. The result of the study shows that all students expect that they would learn all skills of English as well as grammar and pronunciation. They also believe that they would get good jobs if they could master English well.

This study analyzes the English teacher candidate’s use of instructional media in the teaching practicum. The English teacher candidate who became the participant in this study was doing their teaching practicum in MTsN 5 Jember. This study applied the qualitative case study design. Interview and observation were done one time to select the participant. The four-times classroom observations and questionnaires were used in order to collect the data. This study employed the model of Creswell in analyzing the data. The findings of this study showed that the English teacher candidate applied one type of instructional media namely Visual Media. Those were Picture and Whiteboard. The way the teacher candidate implemented the instructional media was almost the same in each meeting of the teaching and learning process. However, the students’ participation and response were not always the same in every meeting. It depended on the way the teacher candidate managed the class activity.

The research was carried out the lock of student’s abilities in understanding time unit. Time unit is abstract, so it’is needed real object as a model to make the student understand easily.in other hand, the student should be given real activity that can be recreved easily. In order to make them understand the concept of time unit.The success of a teaching and learning process is one of the reasons due to the use of media or participation in the teaching and learning process. Because in the teaching and learning process media has an important meaning.This research used a qualitative method, and used  wall clock that made by paper carton. With a wall clock made of cardboard, it is easy for students to use the clock by rotating the direction of the needle on the cardboard between the long needle and the short needle must match.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pembuatan aplikasi android menggunakan iSpring sebagai alternatif desain dalam pembuatan media pembelajaran daring. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode Library Research atau Kajian Kepustakaan. Ispring Presenter merupakan salah satu tool yang mengubah file presentasi yang kompatibel dengan Power Point untuk menjadikan bentuk Flash. Pembelajaran e-learning mengguakan iSpring membantu peserta didik dalam memanfaatkan teknologi dengan cerdas. Proses pembelajaran menggunakan iSpring, akan membantu peserta didik belajar sesuai dengan gaya belajar setiap peserta didik serta mendapatkan kebebasan saat belajar tampa keterbatasan waktu dan lokasi. Proses belajar mengajar lebih menarik, sehingga dapat memotivasi dan materi yang disampaikan dalam desain aplikasi iSpring lebih dapat dipahami. Kata kunci: ispring, media pembelajaran, teknologi This study aims to determine the making of android applications using iSpring as an alternative design in making online learning media. This research method uses the Library Research method or literature review. Ispring Presenter is a tool that converts PowerPoint compatible presentation files to Flash format. E-learning learning using iSpring helps students to use technology smartly. The learning process using iSpring, will help students learn in accordance with the learning style of each student and get freedom when learning without the limitations of time and location. The teaching and learning process is more interesting, so that it can motivate and the material presented in the iSpring application design is more understandable. Translanguaging is a tool for bilingual or multilingual to learn more than one language.  In the field of linguistic, translanguaging is not something new. However, its implementation is still found rare in higher education. To fill this void, this study aims to investigate the implementation of translanguaging in classroom, especially in higher education. This research was intended to answer how helpful translanguaging practices in EFL Classroom is. By using qualitative method, the data were collected by recording two credits full face-to-face classroom interaction. One lecturer and her forty-five students voluntarily became the research participants.  The data were then analyzed by using thematic analysis. The findings showed that the practices were helpful in a way that the tutors could build an engaging dialogue for the students, enabling them to understand the complex learning materials. These findings then implied that in the teaching and learning process, EFL lecturers tend to be more attentive as they prefer to have their students understanding on complex subject to build English proficiency of their students’.
