Bahasa Indonesia both orally and in writing that have rules of order in order to be used effectively. Foreign speakers are part of the Indonesian language learners because Indonesian becomes a foreign language for the learner. In the learning process found various errors. The purpose of this research is to explain and describe Indonesian language by foreign speaker, youtuber from Brazil. This research uses descriptive qualitative method with approach. The data source used video from youtube. Technique of data completion using note note. Then, the data is compiled by mistake. The results of the study indicate the existence of language errors at the level of phonology and morphology.

Language is present as a form of crystallization of the values of civilization and mediating and directing the orientation of the movement of civilization. Therefore, language becomes an important and interesting variable to be studied and revised scientifically for the preservation and progress of civilization. The Republic of Indonesia has an official language used by its citizens, namely Bahasa Indonesia. This language aims to unite the Indonesian people who are multicultural or have ethnic and cultural diversity so that no distance separates fellow Indonesian citizens from hundreds of tribes, according to the 1928 Youth Pledge Convention. The thing that must be realized now is the use of the Indonesian language which is getting weaker. The weakness is not that it is not used at all but that foreign terms are included in public discussion, and it tends to be considered more prestigious to be used. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method that refers to the sources of literature and the results of previous studies. The existence of Indonesian can decline when most Indonesians are happy and proud to use a foreign language that is considered more respectable and classier. However, the current condition of the existence of the Indonesian language is still in a safe stage. Bahasa Indonesia can continue to exist while preserving it by following the prevailing context and linguistic rules and developing its construction according to the needs and desires of civilization.

As one of the ASEAN countries, the Philippines is a strategic target country of Indonesian language internationalization. The internationalization endeavor in the Philippines has begun since 2016 when a number of BIPA (Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing (‘Indonesian as a Foreign Language)) teachers were assigned to the country. Up to 2018, there have been 14 institutions facilitated with 898 students. This article aims to describe the potential and challenges of the spread of Indonesian language in the Philippines in terms of linguistic and non-linguistic aspects. This research employed a descriptive-qualitative method. The data in this research were obtained from interviews, questionnaires, observations, and literature studies. The results show that Indonesian language has potential to be internationalized and developed in the Philippines. It is based on several aspects: 1) the similarity between Indonesian language and Filipino, 2) the motivation of Indonesian language learners in the Philippines, 3) the good economic cooperation between Indonesia and the Philippines; and 4) the fairly big number of tourism visits from Indonesia to the Philippines and vice versa. However, the potential is also followed by some challenges. Some of them are 1) language policy in the Philippines, 2) the very strong influence of English language in the Philippines, and 3) the lack of Filipinos’ knowledge on Indonesian society, cultures, and politics. ABSTRAKSebagai salah satu negara ASEAN, Filipina merupakan negara sasaran strategis peng-internasionalan bahasa Indonesia. Penyebaran bahasa Indonesia secara formal di negara ini di-mulai sejak tahun 2016 ketika sejumlah tenaga pengajar BIPA (Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing) dikirim ke negara tersebut. Hingga tahun 2018, tercatat sudah 14 lembaga yang terfasilitasi dengan 898 pemelajar. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk memaparkan potensi dan tantangan pe-nyebaran bahasa Indonesia di Filipina ditinjau dari aspek kebahasaan dan nonkebahasaan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data dalam penelitian ini diperoleh dari hasil wawancara, kuesioner, observasi, dan studi pustaka. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bahasa Indonesia memiliki potensi untuk terus disebarkan dan dikembangkan di Filipina. Hal ini didasarkan pada beberapa hal: 1) kemiripan antara bahasa Indonesia dan bahasa Filipino, 2) motivasi pemelajar bahasa Indonesia di Filipina yang besar, 3) kerja sama ekonomi yang baik antara Indonesia dan Filipina, dan 4) jumlah kunjungan pariwisata yang cukup besar dari Indonesia ke Filipina dan sebaliknya. Namun demikian potensi tersebut juga disertai dengan tan-tangan. Beberapa tantangan yang ditemui adalah 1) kebijakan bahasa di Filipina, 2) kuatnya pengaruh bahasa Inggris di Filipina, dan 3) pengetahuan masyarakat Filipina yang masih minim tentang Indonesia, khususnya di bidang sosial, budaya, dan politik.

This study investigates the use of Translanguaging as a Pedagogical Strategy by an EFL teacher in terms of interaction between the teacher and the students in teaching and learning process. It focuses to explore in what situation, do the practices of translanguaging which go on in EFL classroom. This study applied qualitative method. Two meetings of classroom observations were recorded by using audio recorder. Also, a teacher and ten students were interviewed after the classroom observation. The recordings and interviews were transcribed and analyzed based on in what situation, do the the practices of translanguaging go on in EFL classroom. In the research findings there were three kinds of languages namely English as the Foreign language, Indonesia as the national language, and Konjo as the local language that used by the teacher and students in practice of translanguaging during teaching and learning process in EFL Classroom. Therefore, the researcher found that the teacher used translanguaging in seven situations during teaching process. And students used translanguaging in six situations during the teaching and learning process.

The present study provides both quantitative and qualitative analysis of the formation of language learners’ metacognition as the Mandarin-English college students in China. I hypothesized that language learning will be promoted by intervention of course teaching if students are trained to become more aware of and skillful at the use of metacognition strategies and other learning strategies that can be used in the language learning process. 3 of 115 freshmen from department of foreign language in Southwest Petroleum University are chosen to be subjects of the study. The result carries out to examine the intervention of strategy course on the formation of metacognition of English major freshmen in their language learning. The conclusions obtained from pre-interviews and post-interview have indicated that the subjects’ metacognition knowledge and metacognitive strategy use in language learning are conflicting. After the course, the metacognition of the subjects increased.

This research was conducted in the city of Semarang with a case study of Diponegoro University. The study shows that a syntax error in the form of a sentence is not complete, the use of the word di mana (which) it is not appropriate, the construction preposition owner, the use of the word yang (that), the error sequence of words, sentences without a subject and object, misuse of conjunctions and prepositions, improper use of the passive or active voice, foreign language interference, and misuse of pronouns. The factors causing the error are the influence of the mother tongue, the limited repertoire of the students, and the lack of practice in speaking and writing in Indonesian. To overcome these obstacles, a curriculum design that emphasizes language skills is required; accompanied by Semester Learning Plans for all learning subjects along with textbooks and the learning methods used are emphasized on communication skills. An Indonesian language learning process for foreign speakers will be more successful if it involves environmental, cultural, and local wisdom factors that are carried out in an integrated manner.

The existence of the Covid-19 pandemic requires that all elements change from the economy, health and education. The role of teachers in education is the main key to successful learning, however, during the Covid-19 pandemic, online-based learning made teachers learn to improve learning media literacy, so that they could provide solutions to a fun learning process. In this research, we want to find answers about how classroom teachers' strategies in increasing media literacy during the Covid-19 pandemic. This research used a qualitative method with a case study approach. The primary data source for the researcher was all class teachers in both Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. Collecting data using three techniques, observation, interviews and documentation. Analysis of the research data using the analysis of Miles and Huberman. Combined with the Quin Patton data validity test, namely data triangulation. The results showed that Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Al-Azhar Menganti Gresik increased media literacy individually and institutionally. Meanwhile, Madrasah Ibtidaiyah An-Nur Junwangi Sidoarjo individually. For homeroom teacher, learning media at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Al-Azhar Changing Gresik Zoom, Google Meet, Canva, Youtube and Whatsapp media. Meanwhile, in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah An-Nur Junwangi Sidoarjo, the learning process is still focused on using the Whatsapp Group. In addition, there are obstacles for classroom teachers in improving learning media literacy, including lack of internet quota, and infrastructure.

This research is entitled “The Translation Problem Types in Translating Indonesia textinto English (A Case Study of Translation Subject of Fifth Semester English Department –UPY) . It is about how Indonesia text is translated into English by English students, toidentify the translation problems, and to identify the problematics of translation technique.This research uses qualitative method to analyze the data. Techniques of analyzing datain this research consist of 3 components, they are (1) reducing the data, (2) explaining thedata, and (3) taking a conclusion. Reducing data is a process of selecting, focusing,simplifying and abstracting the data. Explaining the data is a process of organizinginformation and arranging the complete narration. Taking a conclusion is a process ofdrawing conclusion from the data. The data source of this research are Indonesia text andstudent’s translation.After conducting the research, the research find the data that all respondents havesimilar translation problem types in translating Indonesia text into English. The problems arediction, tenses, no equivalence translation; others have problems of adverb, article, andrelative clause. None of respondents apply other translation technique. They only apply wordper word translation technique. The accuracy of transfer level is adequate level. Only onerespondent have almost completely successful transfer level. Other respondents haveadequate accuracy transfer level. By applying the untrue translation technique has an impactto translation accuracy transfer level.This research is expected to open wide opportunities and challenges to academicians,especially those in translation linguistics sphere to deepen their research and study, especiallyin translating Indonesia text to English in order to be a new contribution to the translationfields.

This study was conducted aiming at examining: (1) the divergent principles of politeness in students’ directive speech act (2) factors affecting politeness and impoliteness in verbal and non-verbal directive speech act produced by students at grade X in Senior High School 1 Mataram in the learning process. The subject of this study are teachers teaching Bahasa Indonesia, English, Economy, History, Math, Religion, Civic, and Science, and all students at Grade X of Science 1, Science 3 and Social 2 in Senior High School 1 Mataram. This study is a descriptive qualitative research. The data source in this study is the number of utterances produced by students and teachers in the learning process. The data were collected through observation. This study revealed that: (1) there were divergent principles of politeness in participants’ directive speech act namely single and multiple divergent principles of politeness affected by speaker intentionally accused addressees, intentionally uttered by neglecting the context, was protective to other arguments, showed emotional feeling, given critiques in impolite words and mocked at other; and (2) there were factors affecting politeness and impoliteness in verbal and non-verbal directive speech act produced by students in learning process namely linguistic factor and non-linguistic factor.

Interlanguage fossilization is a crucial dilemma that foreign language learners may fall in. The problem of the present study is shown clearly in the answers of Iraqi students of Master of Arts in the College of Education for Women University of Baghdad. In spite of all the previous years of studying English language, some still have the problem of fossilized active and passive simple present tense. The present study aims at shedding light on the reasons behind the Iraqi students’ problem. An error analysis is applied to critically examine the students’ answers in their final course exam of two courses namely; pragmatics and discourse analysis. Depending on Selinker’s model (1972) of error analysis, students errors are all traced back to the language transfer of their native language. Among the results of analysis the researchers have arrived at a suitable solution for the current problem embodied by Sharwood’s Consciousness-Raising Approach (1981). It is recommended as a psycholinguistic model for defossilization. It is very suitable for mentally matured learners and help to solve the dilemma.
