The current state of the patients’ management with nasal polyposis and allergic rhinitis has become the basis for a deep analysis of the currently available data on the prevalence of diseases (with a focus on severe forms), as well, available possibilities and disadvantages of conservative therapy are considered. The approaches to assessing the severity and control of diseases and the influence of an uncontrolled course on the quality of the patients’ life are presented. Particular attention is paid to a new class of drugs – monoclonal antibodies, which might change the patients’ treatment paradigm of severe uncontrolled course of allergic rhinitis and nasal polyposis. The efficacy and safety issues of immunobiological therapy are discussed on the example of the IgE-targeted medicine omalizumab. The potential place of the drug in the treatment of the mentioned above forms of nasal polyposis and allergic rhinitis is indicated.

The article analyzes the complex state of the modern legislative regulation of quality and product safety issues in the context of ensuring consumers’ rights to the proper quality of goods (works, services). It is stated that in view of the variety of different properties that make up the notion of quality, the most important are the defects, which are capable of damaging the life, health, or property of the consumer, that is, the defects, which indicate that the goods are dangerous. The safety of goods works, and services as a legal category are of particular importance and is one of the functions of the state to ensure public safety. State measures of influence on manufacturers and sellers of goods, persons who perform work and provide services should be aimed at ensuring the protection of fundamental civil rights. In most cases, these are imperative requirements for safety, which are approved by special legal acts, as well as measures of state supervision and control to ensure the safety of manufactured goods, works, and services. The legislator, when defining security, uses the term “safety of goods (works, services)”, but it would be advisable to carry out graduation of these concepts since the safety of goods is a state of goods that allows it to be sold, used, stored, transported, disposed of without harm for life, health, the property of the consumer and the environment in normal conditions, and the safety of works and services is the quality of protection of the legal rights of the consumer in carrying out the activities of persons who perform work and provide services, danger to life, health, the property should not manifest itself either in their implementation and providing or later. It is noted that quality requirements should be made mandatory when designing production specifications. It is stated that in order to ensure the effectiveness of legal regulation, the safety of a product, work, or service must be considered as a full-fledged property within the legal notion of quality. It is concluded that product safety is an integral feature of any product, work, and service, acting as an integral element of the quality category. Lack of safety features indicates that the product is of poor quality. Keywords: quality, safety, proper quality, improper quality, specifications, consumers.

Allergic rhinitis is a common, chronic medical condition affecting millions of people worldwide. Uncontrolled disease has been associated with impairments in quality of life and decreased economic productivity. Proper identification and control of relevant co-morbid conditions is essential for optimal rhinitis control. Management of allergic rhinitis includes identification of relevant allergens, education on avoidance measures, medications and immunotherapy. First-line therapy includes the use on an intranasal steroid. Other treatment options include oral or intranasal antihistamines, decongestants, leukotriene receptor antagonists, mast cell stabilizers or anticholinergic agents. Immunotherapy is an effective treatment option for refractory disease.

This work aims at giving an updated vision on the successful combination between Metaheuristics and Software Engineering (SE). Mostly during the 90s, varied groups of researchers dealing with search, optimization, and learning (SOL) met SE researchers, all of them looking for a quantified manner of modeling and solving problems in the software field. This paper will discuss on the construction, assessment, and exploitation tasks that help in making software programs a scientific object, subject to automatic study and control. We also want to show with several case studies how the quantification of software features and the automatic search for bugs can improve the software quality process, which eases compliance to ISO/IEEE standards. In short, we want to build intelligent automatic tools that will upgrade the quality of software products and services. Since we approach this new field as a cross-fertilization between two research domains, we then need to talk not only on metaheuristics for SE (well known by now), but also on SE for metaheuristics (not so well known nowadays). In summary, we will discuss here with three time horizons in mind: the old times [before the term search-based SE (SBSE) was used for this], the recent years on SBSE, and the many avenues for future research/development. A new body of knowledge in SOL and SE exists internationally, which is resulting in a new class of researchers able of building intelligent techniques for the benefit of software, that is, of modern societies.

A new class of cascade digital orthogonal filters of the Malmquist type based on bilinear transformation for mapping poles to zeroes and vice versa is presented in this paper. In a way, it is a generalization of the majority of the classical orthogonal filters and some newly designed filters as well. These filters are orthogonal with respect to the generalized inner product which is actually a generalization of the classical inner product. Outputs of these filters are obtained by using polynomials orthogonal with respect to the new inner product. The main quality of these filters is that they are parametric adaptive. The filter with six sections is practically realized in the Laboratory for Modeling, Simulation and Control Systems. Performances of the designed filter are proved on modeling and identification of the system for differential pulse code modulation. Real response and response from the proposed filter are compared with regard to the chosen criteria function. Also, a comparative analysis of the proposed filter with some existing filters is performed.

Allergic rhinitis is common in the UK and can cause significant symptoms and reductions in quality of life. Viv Marsh considers how health professionals can support self-management of these patients Many of us look forward to the spring and summer months with warmer weather, longer days and more opportunity to spend time outdoors. But for hay fever sufferers these months can be truly miserable. For others, the winter months can be equally challenging as, with more time spent indoors, exposure to indoor allergens is greater. Hay fever is the term commonly used to describe seasonal nasal allergy triggered by pollen. It affects many children and adults in the UK, causing significant symptoms and reduction in quality of life. Often, people with allergic rhinitis try to manage the condition themselves using home or over-the-counter remedies to reduce and control symptoms. However, effective management may not be straightforward and guidance from knowledgeable and experienced health professionals can lead to improved outcomes. Taking an evidence-based approach, this article will explore the impact of allergic rhinitis on those who experience it, and will consider how health professionals can support self-management to enable people with the condition to manage their symptoms and minimise its impact on their lives.

The effect of cigarette smoke on Persistent Allergic Rhinitis patients (RAP) prevalence is increasing in Indonesia. Although the number of people who smoke is increasing yet  it has not received attention for examination. Objective: To analyze the relationship between cigarette smoking "side-stream" (SS) with the change in total quality of life (TQL) among patients with Persistent Allergic Rhinitis (PAR). Method: This study is a case-control design, in which 63 patients with moderate-severe RAP evidenced by allergy tests are divided into treatment groups (32) and control (31) randomly. RAP 32 patients were exposed to cigarette smoke (SS) from 5 cigarettes for 2 hours in a room. All respondents were asked to fill out questionnaires quality of life of Juniper's RQLQ. Results: KH total between treatment groups was not significantly different with control. KH total exposed to secondhand smoke every day significantly different. Discussion: Cigarette smoke described in patients with RAP does not lead to changes in the quality of life.
