Background: The purpose of this research was to evaluate the growth and bulb yield of shallot (Allium cepa L.) varieties grown by TSS with different population. Methods: This study was carried out in the low dry land at Laleten Village, Malaka District, NTT Province, Indonesia, from March to August 2018. We investigated different plant populations per planting hole using a split-plot design with two factors and four replications. The main plot was the varieties (Trisula and Bima Brebes) and the subplots were the seedling population (100, 200 and 300 plants/m2).Result: There was no interaction between varieties and population for any of the measured parameters. The population only affected the plant height at the beginning of plant growth. A high plant population (300 plants/m2) gave the highest production of single bulbs but was negatively correlated with the bulb weight. Trisula variety produced significantly more single bulbs than the Bima Brebes one. The establishment of the TSS-adapted varieties could be recommended in this area.

The research aim to determine the effect of the use of phytohormone extracts of red onion (Allium cepa), stem cuttings material and the interaction of phytohormone extracts of A. cepa with stem cuttings material on the growth of mulberry (Morus multicaulis) plants. This research was conducted at the Research and Development Institute of Tanjungpura University from March to May 2019. The method of research was an experimental method with a Split Plot Design. The treatments consisted of the stem cutting materials (base, middle and shoot) as the main plot and the dose of shallots extract (0 g/l, 500 g/l and 1000 g/l) as subplots. Each treatment consisted of three groups, so that the total of treatments were 27 plots. The results showed that only the dose of shallots extract which significant influented on the M. multicaulis  growth. Whereas the stem cutting materials and interactionsof both were did not effect significantly. The highest of murbei growth was obtained at 1000 g/l of shallot extract on 6,52% of the leaves number, 500 g/l of branch length 4,52% and 3.88% of the roots number. Thus, the extract of A. cepa L can be used as an alternative for plant growth, especially M. multultulis plants. Keywords: Mulberry, stem cuttings, phytohormone.

<p>True shallot seed (<em>Allium cepa var Aggregatum group</em>) is an alternative way of growing shallot. Different environments and cultivars need a specific study. The aim of this research was to find out the best technology to grow Trisula true shallot seed by managing plant densities and applying compost and biofertilizer in alluvial soils. The study was performed from May to October 2015, using a split-plot design with four replications. The main plot was plant density: 100 plants m-2 and 70 plants m-2. Subplots were five fertilizer application combinations, they were 100% recommended dose of NPK (R-NPK), 100% R-NPK + compost, 100% R-NPK + compost + biofertilizer, 50% R-NPK + compost and 50% R-NPK + compost + biofertilizer. Results showed that biomass and bulb yield were significantly affected by plant density and fertilizer application. The reduced 50% R-NPK by substituting with compost and biofertilizer was unable to maintain shallot bulb yield equal to 100% R-NPK, suggesting insufficient nutrients derived from compost to satisfy the shallot requirement. The best technology to grow true shallot seed of Trisula variety was 100 plants m-2 plant density and 100% NPK (consisting of 180 kg N ha-1, 52 kg P ha-1 and 50 kg K ha-1) with 2.5 t ha-1 compost that achieved the highest bulb yield of 9.83 t ha-1 and increased the revenue.</p>

Pruning coffee plants is intended to stimulate generative growth that increases productivity to reach optimal. Plant Growth Regulator (PGR) makes it possible to exploit the production potential of plants. Pruning management, combined with the PGR in coffee plants, is expected to improve flowering and berry growth. The research was conducted for 7 mo from October 2017 to April 2018 at Gunung Gede, Bogor, West Java, Indonesia. A split–plot design with two treatment factors was used in this research. Pruning was placed as the main plot consisting of two levels, namely without (P0) and with pruning (P1). The PGR application was placed as a subplot, consisting of three dosages, namely without PGR (Z0), and concentrations of 0.3 mL L–1 (Z1) and 0.4 mL L–1 (Z2). The results showed, the pruning treatment significantly influenced microclimate, number of branches, B0, B1 and B2, number of berry sets, and berries. Pruning treatment had a very significant effect on microclimate, plant height, number of branches, number of coffee fruits, yields crops–1, and productivity. Interaction both significantly affected plant height and B0. The best dosage had not yet been found.

Abstract Sweet corn production in Indonesia from is volatile and unstable. Unoptimal production of sweet corn in North Sumatra is caused by land conditions, plant populations, pest and disease and level of soil fertility. Effective and efficient soil tillage, crop spacing and number of seeds will affect the physical properties of the soil and plant productivity. This study aims to observe the best planting and tillage methods for maize. This study used a split plot design which is repeated three times with two factors, i.e. 3 levels of number of seeds per planting hole and 3 levels of soil tillage. The results showed that the treatment of tillage and the number of seeds per planting hole give significant effect on the variables of plant height, stem diameter, and total production. The interaction of these two factors showed an influence on the parameters of sweet corn plant height. The treatment of 2 seed per planting hole and 1 time of soil tillage show the best productivity compared to other treatments.

Background: Maharashtra ranks first in onion (Allium cepa L.) production with a share of 28.32%. However, the productivity of onion is low as compared to other countries. In order to enhance onion productivity, new and innovative agri-inputs are being tried continuously like providing humic acid, fulvic acid, plant growth regulators (PGR), auxin/amino acid spray, seaweed extract, biofertilizers, sulphur application etc. PGRs are considered to be one of the novel inputs that can help in increasing the productivity of onion in India economically. Plant growth regulators are considered as a new generation of agrochemicals when added in small amounts, modify the growth of the plants usually by stimulation or modifying one part of natural growth regulatory system, thereby increasing the crop yield. Most of the research data available is based on biochemical, seaweeds etc. Almost negligible literature is available pertaining to a PGR made with formulation of Seaweed extract and Protein Hydrolysate. An attempt has been made in this research work to evaluate the effect of PGR formulated with seaweed extract and Protein Hydrolysate as major constituents on onion bulb yield through both foliar and drenching application. Methods: A field experiment for evaluating the effect of plant growth regulator (PGR) formulated by Research and Development Department, M/s Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Limited was conducted at Chilli and Vegetable Research Farm, Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola (MH). During the experiment, the effect of different concentration of PGR viz., 0.2%, 0.4%, 0.6% and 0.8% and 1.0%, 1.2%, 1.4% and 1.6% through foliar and drenching application, respectively were studied. Result: Statistically, significant results of plant growth regulator application on vegetative growth, yield and qualitative characters of onion crop were observed. Significantly, maximum bulb yield was observed in the treatment PGR @ 0.6% (255.41 kg/ha) through foliar application which is at par with the treatment PGR @ 1.4% (246.67 kg/ha) through soil drenching along with RDF. According to the results, the suitable PGR dose for studied characters of onion under prevailing conditions was 0.6% foliar spray and 1.4% soil drenching along with recommended dose of fertilizers.
