Abstract This study was conducted to increase the growth of potato and its mini tuber yield by root zone treatment and the concentration of leaf-fertilizer in the aeroponics system. This research was done at Experimental Farm of The Agriculture Faculty, Universitas Syiah Kuala from October 2019 until July 2020. There were 2 levels of root zone treatment; control (without cooling) and root zone cooling. Meanwhile the concentration of leaf-fertilizer consists of 5 levels; control, 500 ppm, 1000 ppm, 1500 ppm and 2000 ppm. The results showed that the root zone treatment significantly affected the plant dry weight. The heaviest plant dry weight obtained from the plant grown in root zone cooling treatment. The concentration of leaf-fertilizer very significantly affected the plant dry weight, which the best concentration of 500 ppm produced 751.28 mg plant-dry-weight. There was a very significant effect at a combination of root zone treatment and concentration of leaf-fertilizer on plant dry weight, which the best treatment was found in a combination of root zone cooling and 500 ppm concentration of leaf-fertilizer. The plant with that treatment produced mini tuber, while the others did not.

Barangan banana (Musa acuminata L.) is a plant that has the biggest contribution to national fruit production. The increasing demand for the banana requires the availability of seedlings, while conventional cultivation is unable to produce healthy, disease-free seedlings in a short time and large amount. In vitro culture is considered to be able to handle the constraints of the conventional seed supply.  The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of foliar fertilizers on in vitro multiplication of barangan bananas. The method used was a single factor of Completely Randomized Design (CRD), the addition of leaf fertilizer consisting of five levels of media treatment, media MS (control), and 0.50 ml L-1 (p1); 0.75 ml L-1 (p2); 1.00 ml L-1 (p3); 1.25 ml L-1 (p4); 1.50 ml L-1 (p5) of leaf fertilizer media repeated five times. The data were analyzed with Analysis Variance then followed by Duncan Multiple Ranged Test of 5%. The results showed MS media still gave the best results compared to other leaf fertilizer media. Meanwhile, the leaf fertilizer media used in this study still gave good results on the initial time of buds appearance (p3 treatment), the number of shoots and the number of leaves in the p5 treatment, as well as the height of the plant in the p4 and p5 treatments. Therefore, the leaf fertilizer can be used to substitute MS media

This study evaluated the structure of swards planted with Urochloa brizantha cv. BRS Paiaguas and BRS Piata under the eucalyptus shading system, fertilized via foliar at the beginning of the dry and rainy seasons. The experiment followed a randomized block design with a 4×2×2 (4 leaf fertilizer levels × 2 systems × 2 seasons) factorial arrangement. The results were analyzed using the GLIMMIX PROC of SAS University while means were compared by the T-test at 5%. Foliar fertilizer had a significant (P≤0.05) effect on cv. BRS Paiaguas stem mass under shading while the 3 and 6 L/ha levels produced the lowest (P≤0.05) masses. The forage and root masses were not significantly affected (P≥0.05) by the systems and seasons whereas the dead material mass was not influenced by the seasons. The shading system resulted in (P≤0.05) significantly lower dead material mass for both cultivars and higher (P≤0.05) leaf and stem masses for the cv. BRS Piata. In the rainy season, leaf and stem masses were greater (P≤0.05). Foliar fertilization up to 6 L/ha favored the stem control in cv. BRS Paiaguas under shading. The resulting masses of forage, dead material, and root allow concluding that the cultivars adapted well to the shading and dry season.

Abstract. Puspitaningtyas DM, Handini E. 2021. Seed germination evaluation of Phalaenopsis amabilis in various media for long-term conservation. Biodiversitas 22: 5231-5238. Phalaenopsis amabilis (L.) Blume (moon orchid) is one of Indonesia's national flowers, which is mentioned in Presidential Decree No. 4/1993. Study on the orchid seed of P. amabilis was conducted to observe the longevity of seeds storage. The purpose of this study was to determine the viability of P. amabilis seeds after storage for years, then to predict the life span of the seeds, and to find out the best media germination for P. amabilis seeds. After harvesting, P. amabilis seeds were stored at –20 °C and the germination tests were carried out periodically in different periods until the seeds lose their viability to determine the optimum conditions for long-term seed storage. Four trial media cultures have been used to test seed germination by means of in vitro culture. The result showed that seeds of P. amabilis were able to germinate in 4 media i.e. Knudson C, modified Knudson C, modified Vacin & Went and modified leaf fertilizer. The best germination was on leaf fertilizer medium. Based on the research showed that the viability seeds of P. amabilis decreased sharply after 6 years stored. By using regression analysis, the life span of the seeds could be predicted can reach 9 years of storage which is sowing on the best media (leaf fertilizer).

[APPLICATION OF LEAF FERTILIZER TO INCREASE THE GROWTH AND YIELD OF BAWANG DAYAK (Eleutherine palmifolia (L.) Merr)]. Bawang Dayak (Eleutherine palmifolia (L.) Merr) is a potential medicinal plant and required improved growth and yield through the application of appropriate fertilizers. This study aimed to increase the growth and yield of bawang Dayak by determining the optimum concentration and time interval of foliar fertilizer application. The experiment was arranged in a completely randomized block design factorial. The first factor was the concentration of foliar fertilizer, consisting of 0,1, 2, and 3 g/L. The second factor was interval application of foliar fertilizer, consisting of every day, every 3 days, every 6 days, and every 9 days. The results showed that bawang Dayak did not show a significant response to foliar fertilizers. However, there was an interaction between the concentration and interval of foliar fertilizer application which had a significantly different effect on plant height. The highest plant height occurred at intervals of 3-day foliar fertilizer application with a concentration of 3 g/L. The concentration of foliar fertilizer had a significant effect on the variables of plant height, bulb fresh weight, as well as the bulb numbers. All concentrations of foliar fertilizer (0-3 g/L), and time intervals of foliar fertilizer application (1-9 days) affected the same growth and yield response of Bawang Dayak.

Vegetables are also needed by the community as a intake of fresh and healthy food to maintain a healthy body, of the many horticultural plants, green mustard/caisin/mustard (Brassica juncea L.) is one of the horticultural crops of vegetables that use their leaves. who is still young. One of the obstacles in the cultivation of mustard is pests and diseases, as for several types of mustard vegetable pests including: small grasshopper pests, Armyworm (Spodoptera litura, plutella (Plutella xylostella), and (Crocidolomia pavonana) With the level of damage to these plants quite varied between 10-25%, some even cause crop failure. From the results of this study it can be concluded that the kepayang, galam and chirinyuh plants can be used as vegetable pesticides in controlling pests of mustard plants in swamps tides, especially for chirinyuh plants, this chirinyuh plant extracts in addition to functioning as a plant-based pesticide also functions as liquid leaf fertilizer, because the mustard plants show larger and greener plants compared to other plant extracts. Keywords: Application, Botanical Insecticide, Mustard Pest.

The economic value of the Abaca banana is on the trunk which contains fiber for valuable textile and paper industry raw materials. The multipurpose fiber and its prospects are quite good, so the abaca plant gets a lot of attention from various community groups both private, state-owned, cooperative and farmers. Propagation through multiplication humps is very low, planting material is easily damaged in transportation, is not durable and requires large space so that transportation costs are high. One alternative to overcome the provision of healthy, large and fast seedlings is to use seedlings from tissue culture. The aim of the study is to get the right thiamin and leaf fertilizer concentrations at the acclimatization stage. The experimental design used was a 2-factor Complete Randomized Design, Thiamin concentration (1 ml / l, 2 ml / l, 3 ml / l) and leaf fertilizer (0.5 ml / l, 1 ml / l, 1.5 ml / l). The data obtained were analyzed for diversity at 5% level and further tests using Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) level of 5%. The results showed no interaction between thiamin and leaf fertilizer, Thiamin 2 ml / l gave the best results on all parameters and 1.5 ml / l leaf fertilizer could increase plant height and the number of leaves of abaca banana plants. Keywords: Thiamin, leaf fertilizer, abaca banana, acclimatization

Orchid is an ornamental plant, including the Orchidaceae tribe, which is widely favored among the ornamental plant community because it has high economic value, unique shapes, attractive colors and longer-lasting blooming flowers, one of which is a Phalaenopsis orchid. One of the efforts to accelerate the vegetative phalaenopsis can be done with the application of the NAA hormone and leaf fertilizers such as Gandasil fertilizer and Growmore fertilizer. The aims of this research to determine the effect of NAA, Gandasil and Growmore fertilizer types on the growth of hybrid Phalaenopsis orchids. The study was conducted at Greenhouse Jalan Tlogomas Kec. Lowokwaru, Malang City, for 5 months. The experiment was carried out using a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 2 factors namely, the factor I: NAA concentration: control 0 ppm (N0), 100 ppm (N1), 200 ppm (N2), and 300 ppm (N3). Factor II: leaf fertilizer, Growmore (P1) and Gandasil D (P2). Variables observed included: when buds appeared, leaf length, leaf width and percentage of live plants. The results showed that there was an interaction between the concentration of NAA and the type of leaf fertilizer on the emergence of shoots. When the fastest shoots appear at 100 ppm NAA, Growmore fertilizer (N1P1), which is 29 days. The NAA hormone influences the increase in leaf length and leaf width until 16 weeks of age. The best growth of hybrid Phalaenopsis was obtained at the administration of 200 ppm NAA with an increase in leaf length of 1.49 cm and an increase in leaf width of 1.06 cm until 16 weeks of age. Growmore and Gandasil D did not affect the vegetative growth of hybrid Phalaenopsis Orchid plants.
