Entisols are newly formed soil types and are commonly found in Indonesia, with a distribution of ±3 million ha distribution. Entisol Kalidawir has a slightly acidic pH value of 5.8 and contains very low total-nitrogen (N) and available-phosphorus (P) nutrients, calcium (Ca), sodium (Na) and magnesium (Mg) in the exchangeable base are also low and clay loam texture. Low soil nutrients and organic matter can have an impact on plant growth and production Maize is one of the most widely cultivated food crops in Indonesia. The purpose of this study was to analyze various doses of the combination of cow manure and NPK fertilizer on N, P and potassium (K) uptake, growth and production of maize. The results showed that the application of 20 t ha-1 of cow manure and 400 kg ha-1 of NPK fertilizer at observations 27 and 54 days after planting increased growth in height and number of leaves of corn plants and increased nutrient uptake of N, P, and K, respectively. Also reached 1, 0.14, and 0.82 g plant-1 and 5.52, 0.83, and 5.11 g plant-1. In addition, it produces the highest corn production of 10.53 t ha-1.

Maize as well as baby corn is an exhaustive crop in terms of nutrient and water uptake from soil hence soil health become deteriorate easily and as different amounts and forms of nutrient supply in baby corn affect the productivity of baby corn so combination of organic and inorganic sources of nutrient is beneficial for soil heath and to maximize the productivity of baby corn thus an experiment was conducted at the Agronomy Field Laboratory, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh during November 2017 to February 2018 to investigate the effect of varieties and sources of nitrogen fertilizer on yield and yield contributing characters of baby corn. The experiment was laid out in randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. The experiment consisted of two varieties viz., BARI Sweet corn-1(V1), Baby star (V2) and five sources of nitrogen fertilizer viz.,100% recommended N from urea(N1),75% N from urea + 25% N from cowdung (N2), 50% N from urea + 50% N from cowdung (N3), 75% N from urea + 25% N from poultry manure(N4),50% N from urea + 50% N from poultry manure(N5).Yield and yield contributing characters of baby corn were significantly influenced by variety, sources of nitrogen fertilizer and their interactions. The highest number of cob plant-1 (1.67), cob length (13.50 cm), cob girth(3.84 cm), cob yield with husk (14.66 t ha-1), cob yield without husk (3.52 t ha-1), and fresh fodder yield (42.50 t ha-1) were recorded when Baby star was fertilized with N2 (75% N from urea + 25% N from cowdung) treatment. Therefore, it may be concluded that Baby star is the promising baby corn variety when coupled with (75% N from urea + 25% N from cowdung) for maximizing baby corn production and improving soil health.

Abstract In Indonesia, H. armigera caused loss in corn production until 40% and almost attack all region. Therefore, this pest is a concern especially in corn plantations in Indonesia. In the development of H. armigera pest control, the use of entomopathogenic fungi increases after the potential risks of using chemical pesticides in various aspects. Biological control using entomopathogen agents is an alternative control method that has been studied widely and considerably more effective and environmentally friendly. This study aims explore entomopathogen that attack H. armigera which will later be formulated and projected as candidates for biopesticides controlling H. armigera. This research sited in East Java, South Sulawesi, and North Sulawesi in 2011. This research was divided into several stages within a year which were carried out including surveys and samples collection, isolation, characterization, morphological identification and molecular identification (genotyping phylogenetic tree). The research found several pathogens from several location such as Rhizopus sp., Beauveria bassiana, Fusarium sp., Aspergilus flavus, and Gliocladium sp. The character of each Entomopathogenic fungus showed that every isolate has different color and shapes. Based on the results of DNA amplification from eleven fungal isolates using BOX primers, various fragments were produced with sizes ranging from 225 to 1250 bp. The results also showed that all the isolates tested had polymorphic bands with a polymorphic information Content (PIC) value of 0.84. This indicates that these isolates have a low level of polymorphism.
