Life-long learning, including development of professional competence, is an essential paradigm of the 21st century. The goal of this research is to analyse the quality and efficiency of the educators’ professional competence enhancement programme dubbed “Fundamentals of Programming in Visual Programming Environment Scratch” in accordance with the following criteria: organization, lecturer’s competence, quality of handouts, content, expectations, usefulness, applicability, and the overall assessment of the programme. The target group of the research is 98 educators of Latvia. Data was collected using close and open questions to ensure triangulation of data. Results were analysed using SPSS 20. The correlation coefficient was used to analyse the data. Per the results of the analysis, the acquisition of the professional competence enhancement programme, educators have significantly improved their knowledge in programming, as well as the digital competence in general Keywords: educators’ professional competence; digital competence; fundamentals of programming;  programming environment;  Scratch.

What are the prevalent understandings of the concept of teachers’ professional competence? What knowledge forms and learning arenas are significant in developing teacher competences for the 21st century? In what ways can transdisciplinary goals of teacher education (such as diversity, research and development (R&D) and digital competence) contribute in forming teachers’ professional competence? This special issue’s contributions address a variety of perspectives on core concepts for understanding the complexity of teachers’ professional competence. They define, question and criticize the prevalent epistemological and ontological understandings within teacher qualification. They include theoretical and empirical papers addressing a variety of perspectives on teacher qualification and teachers’ professional competence, with a particular focus on the role of modes of knowledge, learning arenas and multidisciplinarity as contributors to transdisciplinary goals in teacher qualification. In addition, contributions illustrate dimensions of teachers’ professional competences such as teachers’ diversity competence, teachers’ R&D competence and teachers’ digital competence.

The article dwells on the problem of the quality of postgraduate pedagogical education through training courses. It presents the results of diagnostics of the quality of professional competence development, revealed by questioning the participants of advanced training courses of the Faculty of Foreign Languages of Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University. To identify the level of organization and teaching of online training courses, as well as to determine the difficulties that arose in their learning process, we conducted a survey of participants. Based on the analysis of the results of the survey, we made some proposals that participants consider a priority for their professional development.The article demonstrates the experience of the Faculty of Foreign Languages in organizing postgraduate training courses. The program of the advanced training course for English teachers at the Faculty of Foreign Languages of Pavlo Tychyna Uman State Pedagogical University concerns current Standards in the subject “The methods of teaching English”. The new program recommends implementing interactive teaching approaches and technologies, creative tasks, case studies, projects into the training courses. The main components of a teacher’s professional activity are aware of the needs of learners, planning and organizing lessons, assessing the level of communicative competencies, as well as the mastering of English, methods of teaching, managing their professional development. We discussed the conditions and forms of training, content materials, some specific difficulties in organizing training courses. It is strongly believed that teacher’s professional competence and lecturer’s academic competence play significant role in improving the relevance and the quality of national education. This article therefore discusses teacher as a professional job and the reasons why the teachers must be professional in this 21st century, the program of teacher provision, lecturer as an academic human resource at higher education, and the financial implication of the teacher as professional job and the lecturers of higher education as scientific instructors. To end the article some notes on the problems discussed are presented in details.

Статтю присвячено проблемам професійного навчання соціальних працівників, зокрема розглянуто психолого-педагогічні аспекти процесу підготовки висококваліфікованих фахівців. Зазначено що в професійній психології та педагогіці набуває поширення компетентнісний підхід до сучасної освіти. Акцентовано увагу на особистісно-орієнтованому та психолого-акмеологічному напрямках професійної освіти та навчання. Особистісні якості фахівця розглядаються як метапрофесійні компетенції, що забезпечують якість праці майбутнього соціального працівника. На основі аналізу специфіки підготовки фахівців соціономічних професій окреслено загальні напрями формування професійних компетенцій соціальних працівників: пріоритет професійно-особистісного розвитку для досягнення високого рівня професіоналізму фахівця; формування психологічної, особистісної та рефлексивної компетентності; практична зорієнтованість процесу навчання. Розглянуто методи та технології активного формування психологічної та особистісної компетентності фахівця в процесі професійного навчання, а саме методика контекстного (знаково-контекстного) навчання та психолого-акмеологічні методи та процедури професійного розвитку. Стверджується, що включення до навчального процесу інноваційних, заснованих на взаємодії педагога та учня, психолого-педагогічних технологій активного навчання має формувати особистісні зони розвитку майбутніх фахівців, удосконалювати способи та засоби професійного становлення, що значно підвищує якість професійного навчання соціальних працівників. The article deals with the problems of vocational training of social workers. They are particularly considered with psychological and pedagogical aspects of training highly qualified specialists. It specifies that competence-based approach to modern education gets spreading in the professional psychology and pedagogy. The article is accented on personality-oriented and psycho-akmeological directions existing in the psychology of professional education and training. Personal qualities of the professional are considered as metaprofessional competences which ensure the future social worker’s quality of work. The general directions of formation professional competence of social workers are identified on the base of the analyses of the specific professional training socionomic professions: priority of vocational and personality development for achievement a high level of professionalism; formation of the psychological, personal and reflective competence; practical orientation of the learning process. The methods and technologies of active formation of psychological and personality’s competence of the specialist during the vocational training are reviewed in the article, specifically the method and technique of signed-contextual learning and psycho-akmeological methods and procedures of professional development. It is alleged that the inclusion in the educational process of preparation innovational, psychological and pedagogical techniques of active learning, based on the interaction between the teacher and the student, should generated personal’s development zones of the future professionals, refine the methods and means of the professional development that significantly improves the quality of social worker’s professional training.

Abstract The problem of professional training of skilled human personnel in the industry of information communication technology, the urgency of which is recognized at the state level of Ukraine and the world, has been considered. It has been traced that constantly growing requirements of the labour market, swift scientific progress require the use of innovative approaches to the training of future ІТ specialists with the aim to increase their professional level. The content of standards of professional training and development of information technologies specialists in foreign countries, particularly in Japan, has been analyzed and generalized. On the basis of analysis of educational and professional standards of Japan, basic requirements to the engineer in industry of information communication technology in the conditions of competitive environment at the labour market have been comprehensively characterized. The competencies that graduate students of educational qualification level of bachelor in the conditions of new state policy concerning upgrading the quality of higher education have been considered. The constituents of professional competence in the structure of an engineer-programmer’s personality, necessary on different levels of professional improvement of a specialist for the development of community of highly skilled ІТ specialists, have been summarized. Positive features of foreign experience and the possibility of their implementation into the native educational space have been distinguished. Directions for modernization and upgrading of the quality of higher education in Ukraine and the prospects for further scientific research concerning the practice of specialists in information technologies training have been suggested

Background: Holistic health is important to life, perhaps especially for elders. Focus should not only be placed on illness or the physical part of their lives, but the whole person should also be considered, emphasizing the connection of their mind, body, and the environment. Objective: The aims of this research were to study the factors of the holistic health status (HHS) of the Thai elderly in the 21st century, and to predict the factors affecting the development of HHS in 3 aspects; physical health status, mental and emotional health status, and the social and environmental health status. Method: The data were collected from 928 Thai elderly aged 60 and over in the central part of Thailand. The research instrument was a questionnaire whose reliability was confirmed using a Cronbach alpha coefficient of .904. Multiple regression analysis was used for predicting the factors of HHS. Results: The results indicated that stress, increased age, gender, and social participation can predict the HHS of Thai elders, and stress can predict each 3 aspects. Therefore, stress prevention activities are very important for enhancing the HHS of Thai elders. Conclusion: The findings of this research can be used to improve the quality of life of elders in the 21st century.

Quick-frozen oat dumplings were produced by adding some Oat flour in dumpling wrapper. The effect of oat flour ratio on the optimal amount of water of the bland flour, cracking ratio and edible quality of quick-frozen oat dumpling were researched. The optimal amount of water of per gram Xiang Man Yuan dumpling flour and oat flour are 0.43g and 0.63g individually. The cracking ratio of products increases with the increases of oat flour ratio. The effect of oat flour ratio on the sensory evaluation and the outward appearance score of quick-frozen oat dumplings is very significant in 1‰ level, their correlation coefficient are 0.990 and 0.994 respectively, and the regression model equations are as follows: Y=90.094-112.477X; Y=18.519-21.763X.
