Mangrove snail, Terebralia palustris Linnnaeus 1967,  was also found on Pannikiang Island, Barru Regency, South Sulawesi. This study aims to describe the fluctuation of T. palustris density in a year of observation. This research was conducted for ten months from August 2018 to July 2019. There were two research stations. Each station has a large plot measuring 10m x 10m and in it, five small plots are measuring 1m x 1m. Measurements of environmental parameters such as temperature, salinity, and pH were carried out in situ. This snail meat as much as 100gr also analyzed proximate. The proximate analysis of the snail shows that crude protein content is 18.73% so that the snail is very suitable to be used as a source of protein. The highest density is in July 2019 and the lowest density is in August 2018.

In Katsina metropolitan, a variety of poultry feeds are available, and the quality and standards of these feeds are critical for the production of eggs and meat. As a result, the quality of selected chicken feeds sold in Katsina metropolitan was assessed by performing proximate analysis using AOAC methodology. Super starter, grower concentrate, broiler finisher, broiler starter, broiler super starter, layer mesh, grower mesh, and layer concentrate were among the samples used. The percentage mean to standard deviation was used to express the findings. The crude protein content of the diets studied ranged from 0.46 ± 0.00 percent to, 8.24± 0.02 percent, ash content 6.31± 0.01 percent – 33.30± 0.04 percent, crude fiber content 1.03 ±0.00 percent – 3.21± 0.00 percent, lipid content 0.11± 0.00 percent, 2.30 ±0.00 percent, moisture content 4.28 ±0.25 – 6.66 ±0.78 percent, and carbohydrate content 51.78± 2.68 – 83.72 ±0.57 percent. Although there was variation in the mean and standard deviation levels among the samples analyzed, such variations were not statistically significant (P>0.05) according to a one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) for the difference in the mean levels of parameters evaluated in eight samples

Abstract Water hyacinth (Eichornia crassipes) is a one of the feed materials from the green plants a potential. Howefer, the water hyacinth are low of protein and high fiber contents. Therefore, there should be efforts intentionally done to increase the leaf protein. One the ways to raise water hyacinth nutrient is performing biologically fermentation by using microbes. The Kombucha organism is a symbiotic colony of yeast’s and bacteria that composed by strong membrane that covers gelatinous mass. Kombucha microorganism is living together with permeate the tea drink. The objective of this research is to know the effect of Kombucha to increased crude protein and decreased crude fiber contents in water hyacinth fermentation. The advantage of the research is to provide information regarding a Kombucha dosage which is required to enhance crude protein and reduce crude fiber content on water hyacinth fermentation. The research used water hyacinth as substrate and Kombucha as fermentor. Kombucha dosaged used here were P0 (0%), P1 (7,5%), P2 (15%) and P3 (22,5%). The fermentation took place 7 days and then proceeded with proximate analysis. Variables observed consisted of crude protein and crude fiber contents after being fermented using Kombucha. The result showed that Kombucha that was used for fermenting water hyacinth, could increase the crude protein content from 13,3040 % (P0) to 15,9972% (P3) and not significantly reduce the crude fiber. The Kombucha dosage at 7,5% (P1) was most effective for fermenting the water hyacinth.

Improvement to animal genetics requires the supply of superior quality forage, such as alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.). Under tropical and subtropical conditions in Brazil, alfalfa cultivation has been restricted to the 'Crioula' cultivar, although studies have indicated that other cultivars have excellent potential of yield. The objective of this work was to evaluate the adaptation and longevity of 92 alfalfa cultivars to the tropical edaphoclimatic conditions by assessing shoot dry weight yield (SDWY), crude protein content (CP), neutral detergent fiber (NDF), acid detergent fiber (ADF), and nutrient content in SDWY. The 'Crioula', 'P 105', 'Rio Grande', and 'Springfield' cultivars were the most promising owing to their higher yield and lower reduction in SDWY. Crude protein (CP) content varied among cultivars, with the highest value found in 'Pro INTA Lujan' (24.5%) and the lowest found in 'Pecos' (18.8%). NDF content ranged from 25.8% ('Key II') to 38.7% ('California 50'), while ADF content ranged from 16.4% ('F 708') to 24.8% ('Diamond'). Nutrient levels of all cultivars were within the levels considered appropriate for tropical conditions.

The purpose of this study was to find out the types of weeds and their nutrition content that grow in the planting area of crops in Batur district, Banjarnegara regency potential as ruminant feed. The results showed that at least there were seven types / species of weeds that grows in the Batur village and is often used as an animal feed that were Axonopus compresus (Swarttz) Beauv, Alternanthera sesilis (L) D, C, Lantana camara L., Nasturtium montanum Wall, Commelina benghalensis L ., Cynodon dactylon (L.) Pers, Digitaria adscendens (HBK) Henr. Results of the proximate analysis showed that the weeds have crude protein content ranged from 8.02 to 23.66% and crude fiber content ranged from 19.87 - 39.36%. It could be concluded that the weeds contain crude protein and crude fiber that were pretty good for ruminants. Keywords: weeds, ruminants, crude protein, crude fiber

Cilacap is a center of fisheries in Central Java province. One of the development fisheries product is the processing of “Abon Ikan”. The advantage of “Abon Ikan” “Abon Ikan” is they have a long shelf life and can give additional income for fishermen. Different fish meat will affect the taste and nutritional content of the “Abon Ikan”. This study aims to analyze the differences in “Abon Ikan” from 3 types of fish meat used in Cilacap. The fish meat used is tuna, catfish (clarias), and patin (pangasius). The three “Abon Ikan” products were then analyzed for their nutrient contents using proximate analysis. Acceptance test using the sensory test carried out on 50 respondents covering aspects of taste, aroma, texture, and appearance. Based on the results of the proximate analysis, three parameters were in accordance with SNI Abon Ikan (1995) are crude protein content, ash content, and crude fat content. Parameters of water content and crude fiber content have not in accordance SNI Abon Ikan. “The hedonic test for acceptance of the four categories: taste, aroma, texture, and appearance, the highest positions were all in the Abon patin (4.04., 3,7., 4.02., 3,92).

This study was carried out to determine the proximate composition, anti-nutrient and the mineral content of Maerua crassifolia leaves. Proximate analysis was performed using standard AOAC methods, mineral contents were determined using atomic absorption spectrometry while the anti-nutrients were analysed using standard methods. The results revealed that the leaves had moisture content of 62.00 %, ash content of 12.17± 0.47 g/100 g and crude protein content of 15.17 ± 0.02 g/100 g. The value of the minerals ranged between 75.33 ± 0.05 mg/kg for potassium and 2.88 mg/kg for magnesium. For the heavy metals, zinc had the highest value of 0.22 ± 0.02 μg/mg. The sodium: potassium ratio was calculated to be 0.92 ±0.00. All the anti-nutrients studied were below the lethal doses recommended. The results obtained indicate that the leaf will be a good source of nourishment if properly utilized. Keywords: proximate composition, mineral content, anti-nutrients, Maerua crassifolia

An experiment was carried out to compare the quality characteristics of cheese produced using Sodom apple and Lemon juice as plant coagulants. The weight of cheese produced from 1000ml of milk with 100ml of Sodom apple extract was 215.5g while 134.4g of cheese was obtained when Lemon juice was used. The volume of whey obtained using Sodom apple extract was 864.6ml while Lemon juice produced 939.3ml of whey. The average pH of Sodom apple cheese was 6.36 while that of lemon juice cheese produced using Lemon juice was 5.16. Proximate analysis revealed that Sodom apple cheese had crude protein content of 22.00% significantly (p<0.05) lower than Lemon juice cheese of 29.33%. Ether extract content for Sodom apple cheese was 19.00% while that of Lemon juice was 28.67%. The ash content of the cheese was 9.67% while 7.67% for Sodom apple and Lemon juice cheese respectively. The moisture content for Sodom apple cheese was 60.00% while that of Lemon juice was 46.67%. The mineral analysis revealed that cheese produced from Lemon juice was higher in sodium, potassium, phosphorus and selenium compared to cheese produced from Sodom apple. Cheese produced from Sodom apple extract had higher refrigeration weight loss of 2.80%. It can be concluded that cheese produced from Lemon juice was superior in nutrient content: sodium, potassium, phosphorus and selenium and storage stability compared to the cheese obtained from Sodom apple extract.

Edible bird’s nest (EBN) produced by Aerodramus fuciphagus has a high demand for nutritional and medicinal application throughout the world. The present study was to evaluate the authentication of a man-made house EBN, which are half cup and stripe-shaped by FTIR. Next, both samples were compared according to their metabolite, nutritional, and mineral composition. The results indicated that the FTIR spectra of both EBN samples were identical and similar to the reference, suggesting the authenticity of the EBN used. The metabolites that contribute to the possible medicinal properties of EBN were found by using GC-MS. The results of the proximate analysis, followed by the standard AOAC method, inferred that both EBN shapes to be rich in crude protein and carbohydrate contents. However, the proximate composition between the half cup and stripe-shaped EBN showed significant differences. Major mineral elements detected were calcium and sodium, and magnesium contents were significantly different between both EBN. Additionally, the half cup and stripe-shaped EBN had a low level of heavy metal content than the maximum regulatory limit as set by the Malaysian Food Act 1983. This study concludes that the nutritional composition varied between the samples and thus suggests that nutrient content should be considered as criteria for the grading requirement of commercialized EBN.
