The existence of various industrial centers in Jember Regency has an impact on the high absorption of labor coming from the local community, because most of the production activities are still done by using the power / physical strength of man. Low back pain (LBP) is one of the symptoms of musculoskeletal pain in the lower back, not a disease or diagnosis for a disease. The high risk factor of LBP complaints occurring in industrial workers is the work posture. Patients with chronic LBP complaints may experience affective disorders such as depression and psychosomatic disorders that will lead to a poorer prognosis, while also often experiencing disabilities that implicate the quality of life of patients. This study aims to determine the risk of work posture on worker’s disability index with low back pain complaints in PT Muroco Jember. The type of this research is observational analytic with cross sectional research design which conducted on 31 workers of PT Muroco which fulfill the criteria of inclusion and exclusion. The risk of work posture was obtained by employee observation and completion of the modified quick exposure check questionnaire while the disability index was obtained by filling the modified oswestry low back pain disability questionnaire. The result of the Gamma correlation between the two variables is p = 0,135. It shows that there is no correlation between risk of work posture and worker’s disability index with low back pain complaint in PT Muroco Jember.

Background: Low back pain (LBP) is a type of musculoskeletal disorder that has a detrimental effect on both workers and business continuity. Weaving activities with handloom are at risk for this disorder.Objective: To analyze the prevalence of LBP among Samarinda sarong’s traditional weavers and its related factors.Methods: A cross sectional study was conducted on 49 traditional weavers of Samarinda Sarong. The instruments included the Owestry low back pain disability questionnaire, rapid entire body assessment (REBA), microtoise staturmeter and stopwatch. Data were analyzed using multiple logistic regressions.Results: The result showed that most of the weavers (92.5%) experienced LBP. Age (p= .000), work experience (p=.000), workload (p=.048) and work posture (p=.000) were significantly associated with LBP, while nutritional status (p=.773) and workload (p= .343) were not associated with LBP. Age and work posture were the most dominant variables affecting LBP.Conclusion: The prevalence of LBP among Samarinda sarong’s traditional weavers was quite high and was strongly influenced by the weavers' age and posture work. In order to improve work posture and reduce the incidence of LBP, it is recommended to modify handlooms (tables and chairs) by following ergonomic rules, reducing workload, work time limitation and adequate rest.

AIM: To analyze the prevalence of low backache among practicing dentists of Eastern Region of Nepal. METHODS: A descriptive cross-sectional, questionnaire based study was conducted among the practicing dentists of Eastern region of Nepal from April 2012 July 2012. A pre-tested, pre-calibrated self-administered verbal rating questionnaire "The Oswestry Low Back Pain Disability Questionnaire" was distributed to a random sample of 85 dentists from different parts of eastern region of Nepal through direct contact and e-mails. RESULTS: A total of 85 dentists were identified among which 76 dentists participated in the research. Research finding showed that the prevalence of back pain among practicing dentists in Eastern region of Nepal was 90.79% among which 50% (minimal), 36.84% (moderate) and3.95% (severe). Among 45 males 4.44% had no back pain, 53.33% had minimal, 37.77% had moderate and 4.44% had severe back pain. On contrary females (31 participants) showed lesser prevalence of low back pain with 16.12% no back pain, 45.16% minimal, 35.48% moderate and3.22% severe back pain. The participants were divided into 3 different age group intervals in which dentists between 25-30 years were 50 in which 8% had no back pain, 58% had minimal, 28% moderate and 6% had severe back pain. Between 31-35 years were 22 participants in which 50% had minimal, 50% moderate and 0% had severe low back pain. More than 35 years were 4 participants in which 75% had no back pain, 25 % had moderate. Similarly the participants were divided into 5 different groups according the years of clinical practice in dentists having 1- 2 years of clinical practice (37 participants) had 2.70% no back pain, 56.75% minimal, 35.13% moderate and 5.40% severe back pain. 16 participants had 3-4 years of clinical practice out of which 12.50% had no low back pain, 62.50% had minimal, 18.75% had moderate and 6.25% had severe back pain. 10 participants had 5-6 years of clinical practice out of which 10% had no low back pain, 50% had minimal and 40% had moderate. 9 participants had 7-8 years of clinical practice out of which 11.11% had no low back pain, 33.33% had minimal and 55.55% had moderate. 5 participants had >9 years of clinical practice out of which 75% had no low back pain, 25% had minimal and 25% had moderate. CONCLUSION: The prevalence of back pain among dental personnel in Eastern region of Nepal was relatively high. The significant risk factors associated with it might be poor posture. Innovations for preventive and, ergonomic strategies should be undertaken to reduce the low back pain. Automobile mechanic work is an extensive and physically hard job. Consequently, the automobile workers suffer from ergonomic risk factors including Low Back Pain (LBP) as a major.Objective: To find out the prevalence of Low Back pain (LBP) and disability among automobile mechanics in Lahore.Methodology:The study was cross-sectional and included 180 automechanics of Lahore. Oswestry Low Back Pain Disability Questionnaire (OLBPDQ) was used to measure the disability caused by pain. Pain was measured by Visual Analog Scale (VAS). Data was collected from 180 auto mechanics from auto repair shops of Lahore.Results:Out of 180 individuals, 125 subjects reported LBP with average age of 30±5.3 years. 87 individuals (69.6%) were minimally disabled and 31 individuals (24.8%) experienced moderate disability, whereas only 7 individuals (5.6%) experienced severedisability in activities of daily living (ADLs).Conclusions:LBP is highly frequent among automobile mechanics. Majority of the individuals suffering from LBP had minimal disability. The rate of moderate disability was also noticeable but number of individuals with severe disability was very low. Overall, LBP disturbed the quality of life.

One of the manual matrial handling jobs is the derivative work from the top of the truck. In working the workers use a tool that enggrong which is a short-handed shovel. Due to the use of employee enggrong work with stooped posture. This work posture raises the potential for low back pain in workers. This study is a cross sectional study with a sample of 9 participants. The purpose of research is to find potential risks of low back pain based on angle trunk when workers work sent down the sand by enggrong. Angle trunk which is predicted covering: 1 angle trunk flexion, 2) angle trunk bending, and 3) angle trunk twisting. Work posture data was taken using Microsoft KinectTM 3D camera and analyzed by using Siemen Jack 3D Static Strength Prediction Program (3DSSPP) software to predict angle trunk. The result of the analysis of the 6 work postures showed that worker's frequently employed posture had the average angle trunk flexion of 61.10 ± 10.090, angle trunk bending of 19.80 ± 6.740 and angle trunk twisting of 20.00 ± 9.030. The average angle trunk flexion at 87.28% of maximal angle is a major cause risk low back pain. So that it can be summed up the potential for low back pain on sand workers. Intervention ergonomics need to prevent and reduce potential risks happened low back pain on sand workers.

Abstract Introduction Low back pain (LBP) is a frequent complaint among security personnel. It is a multifaceted and dynamic phenomenon. Up to 80% of the people will experience low back pain at any point during their productive lives. Low back pain causes some weakness in those who are symptomatic.Purpose LBP is linked to injury and the inability to work. It is most active disability now a days. The population of low back pain patients is increasing day by day leading to economic and physical imbalance. In the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, where the large population is disabled because of low back pain.Methods The sample involved 66 security staff who met the following criteria: they were between the ages of 18 and 60, had worked as a guard for more than 5 years, worked at least 8 hours per day, and had suffered from low back pain for at least 1–3 months. Questionnaire based 10 questions were asked related to body posture and work-related questions and daily activity related question were asked and the evaluation were made using scale. Intensity of discomfort, personal treatment, standing, sleeping, sex life, work life, social life, and travel were among the questions asked. These questions were based on intensity of pain.Result 66 security personnel were assessed. Out of which 20 patient had minimal disability which is 30.77% of total population. 31 participant had moderate disability which is 47.69%. whereas 12 security personnel i.e., 18.46% had severe disability and 2 security personnel had crippled disability which is 3.08% of total participants.Conclusion It is concluded that, working for 6–10 hours is more productive and less harmful for body. It is also concluded that this population of security guards has moderate and minimal low back pain disability.

Salah satu pekerjaan angkat angkut adalah pekerjaan menurunkan pasir dari atas truk. Dalam bekerja, pekerja menggunakan alat bantu berupa enggrong yang merupakan sekop dengan gagang pendek. Akibat penggunaan enggrong, pekerja bekerja dengan postur tubuh membungkuk. Postur kerja ini menimbulkan potensi low back pain pada pekerja. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian cross sectional dengan jumlah sampel 9 partisipan. Tujuan dari penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui potensi risiko low back pain berdasarkan sudut kemiringan trunk ketika pekerja bekerja menurunkan pasir dengan enggrong. Sudut kemiringan trunk yang diprediksi meliputi: 1) sudut kemiringan trunk flexion, 2) sudut kemiringan trunk bending, dan 3) sudut kemiringan trunk twisting. Data postur kerja diambil dengan menggunakan kamera 3D Microsoft KinectTM dan dianalisis dengan menggunakan software Siemen Jack metode 3D Static Strength Prediction Program (3DSSPP) untuk memprediksi sudut kemiringan trunk. Hasil analisis dari ke-6 postur kerja menunjukkan postur-postur kerja yang sering dilakukan pekerja mempunyai rerata sudut kemiringan trunk flexion sebesar 61,10 ± 10,090, sudut kemiringan trunk bending sebesar 19,80 ± 6,740 dan sudut kemiringan trunk twisting sebesar 20,00 ± 9,030. Rerata sudut kemiringan trunk flexion yang mencapai 87,28 %  dari sudut kemiringan maksimal merupakan penyebab utama risiko low back pain. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan potensi terjadinya low back pain pada pekerja pasiran dapat terjadi. Abstract Poor nutritional status is associated with adverse health outcomes across the life course, affecting older adults’ ability to maintain overall well-being, limiting physical strength, and affecting mobility. International research has demonstrated associations between nutritional risk and general musculoskeletal pain; however, no research has explored relationships between nutritional risk and low back pain. Using the University of Alabama-Birmingham Study of Aging, we examined this relationship among 1000 community-dwelling older Alabamians (65+years). We used the DETERMINE Checklist, a well-validated nutritional risk assessment and assessed presence and severity of low back pain over the past 4 weeks. We completed univariate and bivariate analysis and multivariate logistic regression, adjusting for factors significant in the bivariate analyses: sex, body mass index, depression, and co-morbidities. More than half of the participants were at nutritional risk (55.2%). In multivariate analyses, one point increases in nutritional risk were associated with a 14% increase in the likelihood of low back pain 95% CI (1.087,1.213); in categorical analyses, moderate nutritional risk and high nutritional risk were associated with an increase in likelihood of low back pain [46% (95% CI 1.07,2.02) and 164% (95% CI 1.80,3.94), respectively]. While this cross-sectional analysis should be interpreted cautiously, it further emphasizes the importance of nutritional health for older adults. Clinicians treating patients with low back pain or nutritional risk may consider assessing for the other condition. When nutritional risk is detected, clinicians should refer to services such as counseling with a registered dietitian or to a social worker for assistance identifying community-based nutritional supports.

Low Back Pain (LBP) is pain in the waist or lower spine that can be felt up to the buttocks and thighs. Many workers experience illness. Results The study was conducted on 9,482 workers in 12 regencies and cities in Indonesia, the disease experienced by workers was Musculoskeletal Disorder as much as 16% including Low Back Pain. This study aims to determine the relationship between work duration and work posture with complaints of Low Back Pain at Nagari Simpang Kapuak tailors, Lima Puluh Kota Regency. This research is quantitative with a cross sectional approach. Collecting data through a census of 43 tailors with interviews and questionnaires. Data analysis with univariate, bivariate and Chi-Square statistical test. The results of the study found that 58.1% of tailors experienced severe complaints of low back pain. 72.1% are classified as risky age, 74.1% are female, 58.1% have a BMI at risk, 67.4% work with risky work duration, 69.8% work with risky work postures. There is a relationship between age (p = 0.017), BMI (p = 0.013), work duration (p = 0.002), and body posture (p = 0.006) with complaints of Low Back Pain. To reduce the risk of Low Back Pain, tailors should relax and rest by stretching muscles, exercising based on the age of the worker, consuming foods that contain calcium, working with a balanced working time and doing an ergonomic work system.
