Small, Medium Enterprises or commonly called SME are also needed to defend themselves in competition, besides SME are also required to face some global challenges, in facing global challenges this can be done by innovating products and services, and developing human resources and technology, are also needed in terms of increasing marketing areas. For this reason, risk management is needed to anticipate or reduce the likelihood of these risks by analyzing risk management. Keywords: business, risk management, sme.

There were many reasons why challenges happened around the sellers of SME business. The main purpose of this study was to identify the challenges of small-medium enterprises in cottage industries in Kota Bharu. Based on this study, there were literally four challenges of cottage industries in the SME business. The challenges in this study were the growth challenges in human resources, lack of operation management, financial deficiencies and lack of market power. In this study, face to face interview session was conducted and focused on business owners to obtain more information on what challenges they faced while running a small-medium enterprise (SME) business. The thematic content analysis was used to analyse the interview data. The analyse data suggested themes reflect these challenges.

Pemanfaatan teknologi informasi dapat membantu pemasaran produk Usaha Kecil Menengah (UKM) secara maksimal dengan memanfaatkan website dan akses internet untuk mengakses pasar dan mempromosikan produk. Sistem promosi produk UKM di Kabupaten Bengkalis dilakukan dengan cara konvensional yaitu promosi melalui kedai-kedai, di toko-toko/swalayan, ataupun berupa informasi melalui kerabat atau teman. Hal ini akan berpengaruh terhadap omset pada UKM. Selain itu sumber daya manusia dibidang TI masih sangat rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membangun sistem informasi promosi produk berbasis web untuk meningkatkan promosi produk UKM di Kota Bengkalis. Informasi yang diberikan berupa informasi produk pada semua kategori, promosi produk-produk unggulan, dan promosi toko-toko yang berkaitan dengan produk yang dipromosikan. Abstract The ulitization of information techonology can help marketing Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) products maximally by utilizing website and internet access to access market and promote product. SMEs product promotion system in Bengkalis Regency is done by conventional means of promotion through shops, in store or supermarkets or in the form of information through relatives or friends. This will affect the turnover of SMEs in addition, human resources in the information thecnology (IT) filed is still very low. This research aims to build a web based product information promotion system to improve the promotin of SMEs products of the city of Bengkalis. Information provided for the form of product information about all categories, promotion of superior products, and promotion of stores related to the product being promoted.

The survival of manufacturing small and medium enterprises depends on its capability to anticipate and prepare for setbacks, challenges and risks, rather than waiting for it to happen. Thus the purpose of this study was to investigate the nature of risk management implementation in manufacturing small and medium enterprises in Nigeria. A survey methodology was applied during this investigation. And the results revealed that as the owner/manager entrepreneurial experience grows, risk management experience is gained. Thereby leading to a better risk perception, where a more sophisticated risk management approach is implemented that ensures its survival during political or economic crises.

The cooperation between East Java province of Indonesia and Osaka Prefecture of Japan is one of the oldest sub-national or local government’s international cooperation in both countries. The cooperation has been growing both in scope of fields and areas. From East Java perspective, the cooperation should to be more intensive on investment and workers capabilities, while Osaka views that the increasing of human resources is important point. Both of local government agree that their cooperation is important as the back-bond of Indonesia-Japan bilateral relations, and the focus on trade and economy should to be expand. Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) is one of the priority of them now. But, they also face the challenges in the infrastructure and clear information provided. The involvement of local government under provincial/prefectural level and non-government actors including universities and NGO is needed and synergized with the cooperation.

It has been more than a decade after 5.9 SR earthquakes hit one of the most destructed area Tembi Hamlet, Bantul District, Yogyakarta Province. Amidst the wreaking havoc, the area gained its resilient in no time. This research, aimed to 1) explore what are the factors influential towards local resilient, especially micro-small-medium enterprises; and 2) analyze strategies to tackle disaster. It employed mix method, while the key questions were developed using “Sustainable Livelihood Approach” by DFID, geared with “Pentagram Asset” mapping for each spatial and temporal unit. The result revealed that 1) the micro-small-medium enterprises in urban area are resilient towards earthquake due to fair physical, natural and financial assets management and abundant social, human and political assets. These assets have created enabling environment towards behavioral change of urban society; 2) Despite various livelihood strategies existed in urban areas, the research highlighted three types of livelihood strategies within disaster risk management perspective, i.e. survival (disaster), consolidation by no-change plan mechanism and accumulation strategies by change plan mechanism (post disaster). Critically, pentagram assessment is able to identify feasible local assets and activities, however it left the policy, institution, interaction and multi sector aspects from the spotlight. Herewith, the research proposes evaluation scan to rethinking sustainable livelihood approach within disaster risk management by adding these aspects into the observation. It also revealed that local autonomous initiatives to extend urban based economic activities and supported by abundant political interest play pivotal role in disaster management at developing countries.

Risk management has become the driving force for business success due to the everchanging business environment. The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of the level of awareness and use of risk management techniques on the financial performance. The data was collected from 82 of Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) owners/managers in the construction industry in Eastern Cape, South Africa. The results show that the level of awareness and use of risk management techniques have a significant impact on the financial performance of SMEs in the construction industry. The study recommends that the government, tertiary institutions, construction industry development board, and SME owners or managers in the construction industry should work together in improving the level of awareness and use of risk management techniques.

Poverty is a serious problem in East Java. Many policies are carried out to reduce poverty such as intensified economic growth, improvement in the quality of human resources, increasing UMK annually and promoting investment. This research examined the influence of the Human Development Index (HDI), Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs), investment, and GRDP on poverty in East Java in 2019. Cross-sectional data of 38 regency cities in East Java were analyzed using linear regression. The results showed that HDI had a significant effect on poverty in East Java. SMEs are considered to be the spine of the Indian economic structure which has on a continuous basis proved to be the bulwark of the country‟s economy, providing it the resilience to ward of economic shocks and the sustaining capacity in many financial adversities and calamities. These have relentlessly contributed to the overall growth of national GDP and also has generated employment to millions and export to the worldwide economy. While, SMEs are the engines of development in the current scenario, their growth is hindered by factors like low capital basis, availability of low-cost credit, poor technology, lack of quality and sufficiency in material and human resources, infrastructural constraints, lack of market awareness, globalization of trade, increasing competition and timely restructuring when stressed. The motive of this research paper is to analyze and understand the impediments in the growth of SMEs in the Indian context and to suggest solutions to overcome them. The paper also seeks to explore the impact of the growth of these SMEs at a global juncture.
