One of the basic purposes of passenger vehicle engine tests on a chassis dynamometer is to verify the results of the tests carried out on engine test beds in terms of the ECU parameters. The paper presents the analysis of the engine load distribution in driving cycles both European and American. The issue of the influence of selected calibrations of a 1.3 Multijet engine on its operating parameters and the exhaust emissions has been presented. The realization of the project consisted in performing a series of tests on a chassis dynamometer for selected ECU calibrations determined during the engine test bed phase.

Paper discussed the influence of exhaust system leakage on the utility parameters and toxic combustion products emission of a turbocharged passenger car spark ignition engine. A comparative analysis of the data gathered in the research carried out using the MAHA MSR 500 single roller chassis dynamometer was conducted, where the exhaust system was sealed and leaking in the area of the wideband oxygen sensor mounting bracket. The presented data refers to among others: the emissions of harmful gasoline oxidation products (HC, CO), the courses of power generated by the engine and the momentary values of excess air ratio. The EUDC driving cycle was used in the research.

The paper presents selected possibilities of vehicle turbocharger testing using an exhaust gas generator (based on a passenger vehicle) designed in the laboratory on the engine test bed. An outline of the range of turbocharger testing, the design and main characteristics of the test stand have been described. Several validation tests have been presented in terms of the technical parameters, operativeness, and functionality. Basic parameters of the engine have been analyzed that have impact on the turbocharger speed.

Managing the performance of the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) server under heavy load conditions is a critical task in a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) network. In this paper, a two-tier model is proposed for the security, load mitigation, and distribution issues of the SIP server. In the first tier, the proposed handler segregates and drops the malicious traffic. The second tier provides a uniform load of distribution, using the least session termination time (LSTT) algorithm. Besides, the mean session termination time is minimized by reducing the waiting time of the SIP messages. Efficiency of the LSTT algorithm is evaluated through the experimental test bed by considering with and without a handler. The experimental results establish that the proposed two-tier model improves the throughput and the CPU utilization. It also reduces the response time and error rate while preserving the quality of multimedia session delivery. This two-tier model provides robust security, dynamic load distribution, appropriate server selection, and session synchronization.

In the regulations concerning approval of light vehicles starting from September 2019 it will be necessary to conduct exhaust emis-sions tests both on a chassis dynamometer and for real driving emissions. It is a legislative requirement set forth in EU regulations for the purpose of the RDE (Real Driving Emissions) procedure. To decide on the RDE route for the purpose of the LV exhaust emissions tests many requirements must be fulfilled, regarding for ex-ample external temperature and the topographic height of the tests, driving style (driving dynamic parameters), trip duration, length of respective test sections (urban, rural, motorway, etc.). The works on outlining RDE routes are continued across the country in various research centres. Specifying the RDE route for test purposes, i.e. works in which the authors of this article are actively involved, has become a major challenge for future approval surveys concerning the assessment of hazardous emissions from light vehicles and for development studies focusing on – for example – the consumption of energy in electric and hybrid vehicles. The vehicle load was consistent with the requirements of the standard and included the aforesaid measurement device, the driver and the operator of PEMS. The tests were carried out on working days. The streets and roads used for the tests were hard-surfaced. Meas-urements were performed in accordance with the requirements of RDE packages (Package 1–4), i.e. taking into account – among others the engine cold start. The article discusses the method of outlining the test route fulfilling the specific requirements for RDE testing. Chosen results of ex-haust emissions from a passenger car with a spark-ignition engine along the defined RDE test route have been provided. The tests discussed in the article are introductory in the area of RDE tests and provide an introduction into further studies of exhaust emissions and energy consumption in real driving conditions in conventional vehicles and vehicles with alternative engines, e.g. hybrid and electric vehicles.

This paper addresses the issue of metrological accuracy of instantaneous in-cylinder pressure measurement in a diesel engine test bed. In studies, the central unit has been the single-cylinder AVL 5402 engine. The pressure measurement was performed with a sensor designed for thermodynamic analysis, and the results were related to the crank angle, where two rotations corresponding to the four-stroke working cycle were denoted as angles between −360° and +360°. The novelty of this paper is the proposition of how to perform a type A uncertainty estimation of the in-cylinder pressure measurement and to assess its repeatability. It was demonstrated that repeatability of the measurement during the ignition process was difficult to estimate because of the phenomena that cannot ensure the repeatability conditions. To solve the problem, two methods were proposed. In one method, the pressure was measured in the subsequent cycles immediately after the ignition was turned off, and in another method, the engine was driven by a starter. The latter method provided maximal pressure values much lower than during usual tests. The obtained repeatability of measured pressure was %EV = 0.4%, which proved high capability of the evaluated measurement system.

This paper uses solidworks software to build 3-D model of a certain tracked vehicle engine compartment test-bed support, then analyzed the model strain state and mode under typical operation condition by ANSYS. It is calculated that the support can meet the design demand.
