Assembling is one of the important factors in our daily life. The aim of assembling is to obtain a particular function from the subassembly which is generated by putting some parts together. This fact shows that assembling machine parts is possibily the most appropriate example to exeute. If we assemble some machine parts, we decide the positions by their shapes, and then, make sure both the state of parts by reaction force fed back to the hand when a part touches other parts and the behavior of the subassembly. In addition, it is advisable to use both hands for assembly. In this research, we constructed a virtual work space using a force display which gives us haptic sensation returned from not only assembling operation but collaboration with both hands.

Beginning in the early 1970s, Jewish and Muslim feminists, tackled “oral law”—Mishna and Talmud, in Judaism, and the parallel Hadith and Fiqh in Islam, and several analogous methodologies were devised. A parallel case study of maintenance and rebellion of wives —mezonoteha, moredet al ba?ala; nafaqa al-mar?a and nush?z—in classical Jewish and Islamic oral law demonstrates similarities in content and discourse. Differences between the two, however, were found in the application of oral law to daily life, as reflected in “responsa”—piskei halacha and fatwas. In modern times, as the state became more involved in regulating maintenance and disobedience, and Jewish law was backed for the first time in history by a state, state policy and implementation were influenced by the political system and socioeconomic circumstances of the country. Despite their similar origin in oral law, maintenance and rebellion have divergent relevance to modern Jews and Muslims.

This paper presents optimal design for nonlinear compliant cellular structures with bi- and multi-stable states via topology optimization. Based on the principle of virtual work, formulations for displacements and forces are derived and expressed in terms of stress and strain in all load steps in nonlinear finite element analysis. Optimization for compliant structures with bi-stable states is then formulated as: 1) to maximize the displacement under specified force larger than its critical one; and 2) to minimize the reaction force for the prescribed displacement larger than its critical one. Algorithms are developed using the present formulations and the moving iso-surface threshold method. Optimal design for a unit cell with bi-stable states is studied first, and then designs of multi-stable compliant cellular structures are discussed.

This chapter examines the changes that were made in Russia after Joseph Stalin's death. Within weeks of Stalin's death, the charges against the “murderer doctors” had been dropped, the use of torture had been outlawed, and the punitive authority of the security apparatus had been limited. Furthermore, the last remaining victims of the “Mingrelian Affair” were released from prison, and Solomon Mikhoels, the assassinated chairman of the Jewish Antifascist Committee, was rehabilitated posthumously. Despotism, the hallmark of Stalinism, would disappear from daily life, and fear and dread would no longer be the ruling standard. Nikita Khrushchev became the new party leader, Georgi Malenkov was made prime minister, Vyacheslav Molotov was allowed to return to his former post as foreign minister, and Stalin's executioner Lavrenty Beria assumed control of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the state security apparatus. Throughout the years of de-Stalinization, it remained the great exception for any of the crimes against defenseless individuals to be prosecuted.

The State of Indonesia is known for its pluralistic ethnic society that is constantly undergoing changes in every aspect of life. Tolerance education embedded in society aims to make citizens aware of equality in the life of the nation and state so they are be able to form harmonious Indonesian society side by side. This paper aims to describe the importance of tolerance education in the social dynamics of Indonesian people living in diversity. The method used in this research is literature study (literature review). The results of this study indicate that tolerance education is very relevant in the social dynamics of Indonesian society. The tolerance values that must be instilled by the Indonesian people in daily life include: mutual respect, brothers and sisters, freedom, cooperation, mutual help, non-discrimination and a culture of sharing. With the existence of tolerance education, the Indonesian people can live in harmony and spared from conflict and animosity between fellow citizens.

ABSTRACT Purpose: To understand the processes of territorialization in the daily life and work routine of settlers in Querência do Norte, Paraná, Brazil. Originality/value: This work contributes to the context of discussions on territory and territorialization processes (Haesbaert, 2011; Raffestin, 1993, 2008; Saquet, 2008) in the daily life (De Certeau, 2014) of workers marginalized by society in general. Design/methodology/approach: We developed this qualitative article from data collected through eight life history interviews with settlers, pre-settlers, and residents of Querência do Norte, in the State of Paraná (PR). After transcribing the interviews, they went through an analysis of narratives. Findings: We identify that, through the practices of work, study and claims, the settlers territorialize the space, and there they create their own rules and norms of coexistence. In their struggles for land, it is clear that their place of belonging is the field, justifying the insistence on the struggle for the right to land to cultivate. The sense of belonging of the workers is represented by the struggle that unites them and places them as part of a larger movement. Placing men at the center of the construction of territoriality is accomplished through the daily struggle and work of the settlers and pre-settlers in Querência do Norte (PR).

Use of force feedback, or haptics, has increased the realism of virtual reality simulation systems over the last few years. In this research we propose a framework for the communication of haptic sensation in a shared environment over the Internet for developing novel manufacturing training system. This framework allows re-experiencing the sensation at geographically remote location by transmitting the haptic information over a TCP/IP network. We call this Tele-haptics. Using Tele-haptics, we propose a system where we can capture skill sets commonly associated with complex tasks such a die and tool polishing and communicate this to trainee over the internet. The trainee, using a Phantom Haptic system, can experience the process of polishing based on the master’s input. The framework for haptic communication is experimentally evaluated. The results of the experimental evaluation suggest that it is possible to transmit and recreate haptic features such as geometry and force characteristics.
