Abstract Soybean (Glycine max L.) is annual crop that have high morphologies and yield components diversity. The research was conducted at the first season of 2011, the objective of the research were to find morphological, yield, and yield component of Soybean germplasm (Glicine max L.). The research was carried out at experimental station BB-BIOGEN Citayam, Depok, and laboratory of Gene Bank BB-BIOGEN. The experiment used randomized block design with 100 different accessions and three replications for each accession. Based on the observation, the morphological characters have many visual forms. They are as follows: growth percentage in which 19.33 – 99%; growth types were determinate and indeterminate, the leave form was triangle to sharp; purple and white flowers; yellow and black seeds color. The range of values for each characteristic component are as follows: plant height 29,23 – 104,25 cm; number of pods per plant was 23,6 – 99,82; flowering time 33 – 47 days after planting; 100 seed weight 5,98 – 20,77 gram; maturing time 75 – 96,67 days after planting; root nodule’s weight 0,004 – 0,109 gram; seed’s weight 3,15 – 11,45 gram/plant. Among the accessions, the highest yield was shown by B 4323 (643,27 gram/3,6 m2). Significant correlation was shown between soybean’s yield components and yield which were plant’s height, growth percentage, numbers of main stem’s node, numbers of pods, seeds weight for each plant and root nodule’s weight. 100 seeds weight showed significant negative correlation with soybean components.   Key words: germplasm, morphological characteristics, soybean, yield components

The expeiment was designed as a randomized block in 9 replicates, and the treatments were arranged as follows. A clone of patchouli (Aceh Merah) was planted in a 5m x 4.5m plots with a plant spacing of 100cm x 30cm. Six months ater planting the plants on all plots were pruned 30 cm above the ground to make them uniform. The plants of each plot were then harvested every 2, 4, or 6 months. Ihe parameters used for evaluating the efect of treatments were the growth components, including plant height, number of branches (primary and secondary branches), and yield components, including the yield of herbs (resh and dry herbs), and oil yield and content. The processed data for plant height, number of branches and oil content were respectively the average data of one- year observation in the first and the second year, while those for yield of herbs and oil. the processed data were the accumulated data from die harvest in the first and the second year respectively Results of Ihe study are summaized as follows 'lant height was afected by harvest intervals, longer harvest interva, produced higher plant. In the irst year, no significant difference in herb yield (fresh or dry herbs) among treatments. The yield of herbs varied from 61.3 to 68.68 kg'plot (+ 27 - 30 tons/ha/year) and dry herbs from 17 1? lo 17 8 kg'plot (+ 7.6 -7.9 tons/ha). In the second year, harvest interval signiicantly afected herb yield, where the highest yield was produced by 2-month harvest interval. Oil yield was significantly afected by harvest interval, cither in the irst or in the second year. The highest yield was produced from 2-month harvest interval, i.e. 449 ml/plot (197 lha) in the irst, and 142 ml (63 l/ha) in ile second year. NS soybean cultivars were assessed for variability of and correlations between yield components and the effect of genotype - environment interaction on yield, yield component and morphological characteristics. Experiments were carried out at Rimski Sancevi experiment field in 2009 and 2010. The following characteristics were evaluated: plant height (cm), height of first pod (cm), 1000-grain weight (g), grain yield (kg/ha) and the combined content of oil and protein in grain (%). Combined contents of oil and protein in grain soybean were determined by a non destructive method of near infrared spectroscopy on PERTEN DA 7000 (NIR/VIS Spectrophotometer). The studied characteristics varied significantly depending on genotype and year. The highest yield of 5273 kg/ha was obtained in 2009 with the genotype Victoria. Highest 1000-grain weights, 2009-2010, were achieved with the genotypes Valjevka and Victoria (149.27 g and 147.23 g). Maximum heights of first pod (19.40 cm) were recorded for the genotype Victoria, 2009-2010. Highest protein contents were obtained with the genotypes Valjevka and Victoria, 2009-2010, were and highest oil contents (21.73%) with the genotype Tea. Protein content was positively significantly correlated with 1000-grain weight and negatively significantly correlated with oil content, and negatively correlated with yield and the height of first pod. Oil content was positively correlated with the height of first pod. Thousand-grain weight was negatively highly significantly correlated with oil content in grain and negatively significantly correlated the height of first pod. The results of this study should facilitate further soybean breeding for improved seed yield and protein and oil contents.

Most farmers’ practices broadcast sowing methods and productivity is less. Soil fertility maintenance is a major concern in tropical Africa which needs to tackle soil fertility depletion as a fundamental constraint. Similarly, the traditional way of planting tef reduces the amount of grain production, promotes competition for inputs, and causes severe lodging. This paper aimed to review the interaction effects between seed sowing methods and different types of inorganic fertilizers on the growth and yield of teff. In Ethiopia, recent research indicates planting method (row planting and broadcasting) affects the yield and yield components of teff. The review indicates the yield components include heading and maturity, plant height, first growth rate, number of tiller and panicle, thousand seed weight, grain, straw, and total biomass yields and harvest index high in Method of Row sowing compared to broadcast in Ethiopia but Days to emergence and panicle length were more affected by broadcasting. In economical acceptance, Row sowing was found to be economically acceptable with more income from grain yield than broadcasting.

We investigated effects of spacing and no. of seedling hill-1on growth and yield component of rice cv. Chai Nat 1 in system of rice intensification. The experiment included 25 × 25 cm, 30 × 30 cm, 40 × 40 cm, and 50 × 50 cm with single seedling hill-1, two seedlings hill-1, and three seedlings hill-1, respectively. The study was in Kasetsart University Chalermphrakiat Sakonnakhon Province Campus during November 2016 to March 2017. Each condition was laid out in a randomized completed block design with three replications. The experiment found that the no. of seedlings hill-1influence in the growth and the yield component of the rice, while the spacing does not. Moreover, there is no interaction between spacing and seedlings hill-1.The three seedling hill-1condition showed the highest in tillering (avg. = 24.13 tillers hill-1). The single seedling hill-1showed the lowest in tillering (avg. = 16.24 tillers hill-1). From this research indicated that optimized seed hill-1in rice cultivated system.

The peppermint cultivar Todd's Mitcham forms the basis of a newly established peppermint oil industry in north-eastern Victoria. In this study the effects of Puccinia menthae on growth and yield components of Todd's Mitcham peppermint grown in pots were investigated. Rust infection significantly (P<0.05) reduced oil content, stolon number, leaf area, and root, stem, and leaf weights per plant, and increased defoliation by 67%. There was a negative linear relationship between oil yield and level of defoliation. Relationships between the amount of disease, measured as incidence and severity, and levels of defoliation were linear and logarithmic, respectively. The impact of disease on various components of growth and yield is discussed.

Lilac sage (Whorled sage), as one of the medicinal plants chosen as perspective for the recultivation of flowering meadows in the Czech Republic, was studied for the variability of its morphological characters, seed quality and content of essential oil. Seven particular populations of this genus were studied in the Czech Republic and there were found statistically significant differences in morphological characters (height and width of plants, length and width of leaves and length of inflorescences) but not in the content of the essential oil. Studied populations reached only between 0.028 and 0.072% of essential oil in dry mass and also the quality of seeds was found very low (germination between 0–52%) in the seeds from natural localities but this fact could be influenced by testing method.

Abstract In the current study, influences of chitosan solutions on morphological characteristics, growth and yield components of lentil (Lens culinaris Med.) under rainfed conditions have been investigated. A field experiment was conducted in the Northwest of Iran using a split-plot experiment based on a completely randomized design with three replications. The response of twelve genotypes with different origins to chitosan application at the sowing (seed soaking), vegetative and reproductive stage (spraying chitosan onto leaves) was evaluated. Results revealed that chitosan application could significantly improve the number of pods per plant, 100-seed weight, grain yield per plant and harvest index in comparison to control plants. The comparison of yield components between chitosan treatments showed that spraying chitosan during the reproductive stage was more efficient than in other stages. However, the responses of the number of pods per plants and grain yield per plants to chitosan treatments were significantly different among the genotypes. Although the highest grain yield was recorded in the 78S 26013 genotype (from Jordan), its response to chitosan treatments was different from the other genotypes and showed the best performance in plants obtained from seed soaked in chitosan solutions. We suggest that the application of chitosan as an agronomic management strategy be further investigated for an efficient technique to induce resistance in lentil plants against biotic and drought stress in semi-arid regions.

The coffee growth is considered to depend, partly, on the environmental condition at which they develop to accomplish their both vegetative and generative stages. An exploratory survey aimed at investigating the morphological characteristics of 13 Robusta coffee accessions growing on different environmental conditions, i.e. altitudes, slopes, and micro-climates, in Lampung.  Local superior coffee clones were selected from 8 farms to evaluate in terms of their yield components and growth characters. Three key issues are considered to observe quantitatively, i.e. plant components of leaves, branches, and fruits. The qualitative characteristics of leaves and cherries, i.e. colour and shape, were also assessed to support the comparative data analysis. The results show a similarity of ca. 60% of total qualitative variable identified among different accessions. The remaining characters are suggested to be more varying such as flush colour, leaf surface, ripe fruit colour, and stipule shape. Furthermore, a quantitative analysis shows a higher level of similarity for fruit characters, i.e. fruit length, fruit width, and fruit thickness, and to a slightly lower level for leaf characteristics, i.e. leaf length and width, and the number of productive branches. Conversely, part of yield component, such as weight of fruits, may be affected by altitude as some accessions, e.g. number 1 and 8, demonstrating a pronounced character in the principal component analysis. The same analysis reveals that some variables, i.e. fruit weight; leaf and seed; and canopy characteristics, explaining the morphological variation of coffee throughout the accessions. Furthermore, cluster analysis may indicate a possible similarity of coffee morphologies either from area with different or the same environmental conditions. Therefore, it can be concluded that environmental condition variation in Lampung may affect to a lesser extent the morphological characters of Robusta coffee.
