Introduction: HIV/AIDS, a pandemic epidemic impacting 40 million people around the world within a limited period. The largest victims of the epidemic, representing 95% of the world's overall HIV transmission, are adults in developed countries. Objectives: Dentists and nurses taking charge of these patients should have ample awareness of the disease as a consequence of a growing number of HIV/AIDS patients and their conduct and actions should be satisfactory. Our research attempted to determine the awareness levels of dental students including UG-PG and nursing students concerning HIV/AIDS and to study attitudes and actions and information gaps between dental and nursing students. The research involved dental and nursing students from our university. Methods:- A questionnaire was given to a total of 300 applicants, 150 dental graduates, 150 nursing graduates and all of them accessed. Results:- According to ninety-eight point-six AIDS were CD4-T lymphocytes. Sixty percent (60 percent) of dental students claimed that both care and treatment for AIDS were present. Thirty percent (30 percent) of dental students believed that AIDS care was available, while ten percent (10 percent) of dental students believed that AIDS treatment was present. Fifty percent (50 percent) of nursing students claimed that AIDS are present in both recovery and remedy. In our research, it was observed that HIV/AIDS awareness in developing countries such as India is deficient. Increased knowledge may contribute to a decrease in fear of caring for patients infected with HIV. There are studies measuring HIV/AIDS awareness and attitude among oral health care staff in North India, but so far no such research has been undertaken evaluating the knowledge and attitude of dental and nursing students. Conclusions: For most factors, such as fragile ages, forms of transmission, sexual symptoms and common illness, the research sample was quite satisfactory. But misunderstandings still occurred in both dental and nursing students.

Self-medication is indeed a practice where patients select and use drugs for either the management of auto-diagnosed physically or mental health problems. It was defined as the ingestion of drugs without consultation with a qualified doctor. The purpose of the research was to evaluate the perceptions and degree of self-medication practice amongst first-year dental students. This questionnaire-based survey was conducted among 100 first-year undergraduate dental students in Chennai. The questionnaire had 11 questions eliciting the practice of self-medication patterns among the students. The responses were recorded and . 61% of the respondents have the habit of self-medication. 43% said that they take for a headache, 21% said that for stomach pain, for fever 25% take self-medication and the rest said that they visit a doctor without taking any self-medication. 56% preferred medication, 9% preferred , 12% preferred Ayurveda and the rest 23% preferred the homemade medicines. 41% use antibiotic drugs, 47%use drugs and the rest 12% use antihistamine drugs. Around 71% said that they were aware of a drug overdose and the rest 29% said they were not aware. Self-medication was primarily used by dental students mainly for minor ailments with over the counter drugs. From the survey, we can conclude that there is a large number of students 61 % have the practice self-medication and so awareness must be created on it.

Background: Self-medication is defined as selection and use of medicines by individuals to treat self-recognized or self-diagnosed conditions or symptoms. Self-medication can lead to various health problems like adverse drug reactions, prolonged suffering, and drug-dependence and increase resistance among various pathogens. Very few studies have evaluated its pattern and prevalence in physiotherapy students. Material and Methods: Study setting: A cross-sectional questionnaire-based study was conducted on the second year MBBS students of Maharishi Markandeshwar institute of Medical sciences and research collaborated with a tertiary care hospital in North India. Study design: A questionnaire consisting of open and close ended questions related to various aspects of self-medication was distributed to the students. An informed consent was given to them and only the students, who gave consent, anonymously filled the questionnaire and participated in this present study. Results: A total of 104 students, two incomplete questionnaires were excluded and remaining 102 were analyzed. The most common ailment for seeking self-medication was common cold and cough (44.11%), sore throat (24.50%), fever (12.74%), pain abdomen, heartburn, diarrhoea, menstrual cramps, gynecological infections (18.62%) are the main factors attributed to predominant ailment which leads them to self medicate. The commonly/frequently used drugs or combination drug therapy included were antipyretics including paracetamol (32.35%), NSAIDs including aspirin(23.52%), antibiotics including antimicrobials(15.68%), Antihistaminics (9.5%), Antifungals including topical ointments/lotions(10.78%%), and other miscellaneous accounting for 7.84%.According to our documented results cost effectiveness (65.68%) has emerged as the prominent reason for self medication, followed by time saving (13.72%), further ease (12.74%) for reaching the drug/medicine as considered by participants as the valid point through pharmacy or leftovers. and last but not least learning opportunities (07.84%) were also accounting as the interesting reason for this pattern of self medication. Conclusions: Our study concludes that self-medication pattern is widely practiced among second year MBBS students of this institute. As the pattern of self medication is very high as documented in this study thus, there is affirm need to make them aware about the advantages and disadvantages of self-medication in order to ensure optimistic usage of pattern of self medication with reduced errors and wholesome advantages.

Introduction: Self-medication is common among medical students. Medical and dental students can also educate the population about the use of medicines. The aim of the study was to find the mean knowledge score of self-medication among first and second year medical and dental students at a medical college in Nepal. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out in a medical college from 1st to 28th February 2021 using a structured online questionnaire after obtaining approval from the Institutional Review Committee (approval number 077/78/32). Convenience sampling method was undertaken. The responses were analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences version 26. Results: Out of 173 students the mean±SD knowledge score was 79.47±6.76. The mean knowledge score of the participants of age group 17-18, 19-20 and 21-22 years were 83.8, 79 and 79.1 respectively. The mean knowledge scores of the male and female participants were 80.2 and 78.6 respectively. Similarly, the knowledge scores of respondents from undergraduate medical and dental backgrounds were 80.1 and 77.7 respectively. Conclusions: Knowledge of self-medication was high among the students. However, educational sessions to further improve and strengthen knowledge can be carried out to improve the knowledge.

INTRODUCTION: Alexithymia is a cognitive-affective style and a personality construct that is associated with various physical and psychological disorders. It refers to a personality trait associated with difficulties with identifying or describing feelings, mental imaging and fantasy, and external cognitive orientation AIM: To access the problem of alexithymia among the Academic (Dental and Ayurvedic) students of an Institution in North India. MATERIALS AND METHOD: A questionnaire based cross-sectional survey was carried out among the medical students of D.J. Group of Institutions, Modinagar, Ghaziabad district, Uttar Pradesh, India. Ethical approval was obtained from the Institutional Review Board, Modinagar and informed consent was obtained from all the study participants prior to the study. RESULTS: The questionnaire based study was carried out among 252 medical students of D.J. Group of Institutions, Modinagar, Ghaziabad district, Uttar Pradesh, India. Out of which 113 students were of Ayurveda and 139 were dental students. The inter group comparison of respondents according to course of study in which majority of the Ayurveda students were having significant result for the alexithymia problem. CONCLUSION: This study demonstrates that alexithymia plays significant role in decreasing self-efficacy in academic students. As alexithymia is high in college students and affects self-regulation, goal orientation, and academic function, we suggest that mental physicians routinely evaluate medical college students for alexithymia.
