A polycrystalline CdSe thin films doped with (5wt%) of Cu was fabricated using vacuum evaporation technique in the substrate temperature range(Ts=RT-250)oC on glass substrates of the thickness(0.8?m). The structure of these films are determined by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The X-ray diffraction studies shows that the structure is polycrystalline with hexagonal structure, and there are strong peaks at the direction (200) at (Ts=RT-150) oC, while at higher substrate temperature(Ts=150-250) oC the structure is single crystal. The optical properties as a function of Ts were studied. The absorption, transmission, and reflection has been studied, The optical energy gap (Eg)increases with increase of substrate temperature from (1.65-1.84)eV due to improvement in the structure. The amorphousity of the films decreases with increasing Ts. The films have direct energy gap and the absorption edge was shift slightly towards smaller wavelength for CdSe:Cu thin film with increase of substrate temperature.it was found that the absorption coefficient was decreased with increasing of substrate temperature due to increases the value of(Eg). The CdSe:Cu films showed absorption coefficient in the range (0.94 x104-0.42x104)cm-1at Ts=RT-250 oC. Also the density of state decreases with increasing of substrate temperatures from (0.20-0.07)eV, it is possibly due to the recrystallization by the heating substrate temperatures.. Also the extinction coefficient, refractive index and dielectric constant have been studied.

In this work, SnO2 and (SnO2)1-x(ZnO)x composite thin films with different ZnO atomic ratios (x=0, 5, 10, 15 and 20%) were prepared by pulsed laser deposition technique on clean glass substrates at room temperature without any treatment. The deposited thin films were characterized by x-ray diffraction atomic force microscope  and UV-visible spectrophotometer to study the effect of the ZnO atomic ratio on their structural, morphological and optical properties. It was found that the crystallinety and the crystalline size vary according to ZnO atomic ratio. The surface appeared as longitudinal structures which was convert to spherical shapes with increasing ZnO atomic ratio. The optical transmission and energy gap increased with increasing ZnO atomic ratio.

In this work, the effect of substrate temperature on structural and optical properties of V2O5 thin films has been characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD); SEM and transmission. The films mince has been prepared by Reactive Chemical Spraying technology in Liquid Phase (RCSLP) on glass substrates preheated at (350, 400, 450 and 500 °C). The X-ray diffraction analysis confirms that all layers are polycrystalline, and the preferred orientation of V2O5 is the (001) plane. The morphology of V2O5 thin films are porous nature and their particle’s shape is three-dimensional. The transmittance and absorbance of thin film were measured from which the optical constants (Energy gap, Refractive index, Absorption coefficient, Extinction coefficient and Optical dielectric constant) were determined.

The deposition of composites with tailored optical properties is investigated. This would employ structures consisting of combined metallic and oxides nature. A thin layer of TiNi is obtained by using RF magnetron sputtering on a stainless-steel substrate, followed by oxidation at 400°C and 800°C for four and one hours, respectively. The optical properties of the thin films were characterized by optical spectrophotometer, and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). The morphology, topography, and structure were studied by scanning electron microscope (SEM), atomic force microscope (AFM), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The results show that TiO2 has been produced through the oxidation process of the sputter-deposited TiNi thin film at high oxidation temperature. The TiNi thin films showed a significant improvement in optical properties after oxidation, as the absorbance increased, and the emittance was reduced. This work introduces oxidized TiNi thin films as candidates for solar selective absorber.

In this paper optical properties of microcrystalline HfO2 powder are investigated. X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy were used to determine that the studied samples are in monoclinic phase. Based on the analysis of the diffuse reflectance spectra and applying Kubelka-Munk formalism we evaluated the indirect bandgap value Eg = 5.34 ± 0.05 eV. The calculated value is in agreement with independent data for HfO2 thin films synthesized by various methods. The paper is based on the materials of the report presented at the first Russian scientific confererence with the participation of the international community "YENISEI PHOTONICS – 2020"

Abstract: CdS thin films were synthesized on a glass substrate using spin coating method. The effects of annealing temperature on the optical properties of the prepared CdS films were investigated for different annealing temperatures of 200, 300 and 400 °C. Cadmium acetate, thiourea and ammonia were used as the source materials for the preparation of the thin films. The elemental composition, morphological, optical and structural properties of the films obtained by spin coating were investigated using Energy Dispersive X- ray Spectroscopy (EDAX), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), UV Spectrophotometry and X-ray diffraction (XRD) respectively. The SEM image of the unannealed film shows a spherical morphology and an irregular pattern without any void. It also shows that the film covers the substrate well. Annealing leads to an increase in transmittance with the highest transmission of 87% observed for the film annealed at 400oC. With increase in annealing temperature, optical parameters like extinction coefficient and dielectric constants show a reduction, while refractive index and skin depth exhibit an improvement. The absorption coefficient increases with increasing photon energy in the range 3.6 to 4.0 eV. The band gap values of the CdS thin film samples were found to be in the range between 3.14 eV and 3.63 eV. The bandgap is somewhat greater than the value of bulk CdS due to quantum size effect. EDX image confirmed the presence of Cadmium and Sulphur in the prepared CdS films. Annealing did not significantly change the extinction coefficient. The X-ray diffraction confirms the cubic structure of CdS deposited on glass substrate, where reflections from (111), (200), (220) and (311) planes are clearly shown with a preferential orientation along (111) plane. Debye-Scherer equation was used to determine the crystallite size of the most intense plane (111) and the value was found to be 8.4 nm. Keywords: SEM image, Spin coating, Surface morphology, Optical properties, Annealing.

CdS films were prepared by R.F. magnetron sputtering method. The effects of vapor CdCl2treatment on the properties of CdS films were studied. The vapor CdCl2thermal treatment at different temperature was employed in a CSS device, using CdCl2powder as evaporant. The structural and optical properties of CdS films were investigated by x-ray diffraction (XRD), PL spectra, and transmittance spectra, respectively. The results revealed that the CdS films had a structure of hexagonal wurtzite with a preferential orientation of the (002) plane. A better crystal quality and larger grain size, which are good for the solar cell application, were observed in the CdS samples annealed with CdCl2Subscript text.
