The experiment was conducted to study the effect of leaves extract of Salvia sclarea , Rosmarinus officinalis and Thymus vulgaris with 10% and 30% concentration on germination of seeds and growth of seedlings . The effect of these extracts on infection percentage of seeds decay and surface growth of Rhizoctonia solani . The results showed that the three extracts effected significantly to reduced percentage of seeds germination, acceleration of germination , promoter indicator , infection percentage of seeds decay and surface growth of R. solani especially in 30% concentration .

Recentemente, em plantas medicinais da família Labiatae (Rosmarinus officinalis, Lavandula sp., Salvia officinalis e Thymus vulgaris), constatou-se tombamento de mudas em pós-emergência e queima foliar ascendente. Em isolamentos efetuados a partir de tecidos doentes, observou-se o desenvolvimento de um fungo com hifas ramificadas em ângulo de aproximadamente 90º, constrição na base da ramificação, septo próximo à inserção da hifa lateral e outras características típicas do gênero Rhizoctonia. Inoculou-se o fungo em plantas sadias cultivadas em vasos plásticos. Naquelas inoculadas por pincelamento de inóculo, ocorreu queima foliar de forma generalizada aos quatro dias da inoculação, enquanto nas inoculadas pela deposição de inóculo na superfície dos vasos, houve queima foliar ascendente, como observado em condições naturais, aos dez dias da inoculação. Com base na morfologia da colônia, crescimento micelial, número de núcleos, identificação do grupo e subgrupo de anastomose e da fase teleomórfica, o patógeno foi caracterizado como Rhizoctonia solani (fase anamórfica de Thanatephorus cucumeris). Com a reprodução dos sintomas da doença por inoculação artificial nas mudas e o reisolamento, em meio de batata dextrose ágar (BDA), do mesmo fungo a partir de tecidos doentes confirmou-se R. solani como o agente etiológico da doença.

The antifungal activity of aqueous extracts of nine plants viz, Azadirachta indica, Parthenium hysterophorus, Momordica charantia, Allium sativum, Eucalyptus globules, Calotropis procera, Aloe vera, Beta vulgaris and Datura stramonium were assessed in vitro against Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. melongenae, Rhizoctonia solani and Macrophomina phaseolina, the soil borne phytopathogens. The assessment of fungitoxic effect was carried out by using three different concentrations i.e., 5, 10 and 20% against the test fungi, in terms of percentage of mycelial growth inhibition. The extract of A. sativum completely inhibited the mycelial growth of M. phaseolina at all the concentrations. The extracts of D. stramonium and E. globulus inhibited the mycelial growth of R. solani of 72%, and 70.7% respectively at 20% concentration, that of A. sativum, E. globulus and D. stramonium exhibited inhibition percentage of 63.3%, 61.8% and 61.1% respectively at 20% concentration on Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. melongenae. The application of plant extracts for disease management could be less expensive, easily available, non-polluting and eco-friendly.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the in vitro antimicrobial activity of medicinal Methanolic plant extracts against multidrug-resistant bacteria to determine the cytotoxicity of these extracts on eukaryotic cells, and to confirm their efficacy against Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in experimental animals. The effects of the methanol extract of sixty folk plants were investigated on; MRSA, Extended Spectrum Beta-Lactamase E. coli and MDR Pseudomonas aeruginosa by disc diffusion and MIC assay. Cytotoxicity was determined using MTT and hemolysis of human erythrocytes. Three plant extracts with the highest antimicrobial activities were tested using a challenge experiment on mice. Systemic infection was performed by intraperitoneal inoculation of (5 × 106 CFU/mL) of MRSA isolate. Then mice received 300 mg/kg body weight of the plant extracts daily for seven days. The efficacy of plant extracts was evaluated by general health, mortality rate, gross lesion, and histopathology study of inoculated mice. Only ten plants showed activities against different MDR bacteria with inhibitory zones ranging from (8 to 22 mm) in diameter. Of the ten medicinal plant extracts, and Aloysia citrodora showed the highest activities against MRSA and Camellia sinensis MSSA isolates, with MIC values ranging from 0.5 to 1.5 mg/mL, followed by Hibiscus sabdariffa, Thymus vulgaris, and Glycyrrhiza glabra. Furthermore, the extract of the effective plants showed low toxicity against Vero and fibroblasts cell lines, along with inhibitory activities to erythrocytes membrane disruption. The in vivo study demonstrated that Camellia sinensis showed significant activity against MRSA infections in mice. The results validate that these plants are effective and safe antibacterial agents against multidrug-resistance bacteria, and have the potential to be utilized as an alternative to antibiotics for the treatment of bacterial infections.

Research was conducted to study the effect of proline and aspirin with 10 and 20 ppm on seed germination and seedling growth of Lycopersicon esculentum and the effect of surface growth of Fusarium oxysporum. The results showed that the proline and aspirin effected significantly to decreased percentage of seed germination, acceleration of germination, promoter indicator, elongation speed of radical and plumule and also the infection percentage of seed decay and surface growth of Fusarium oxysporum was reduced significantly.

Abstract A green efficient and facile synthesis of pyrazoles is reported via condensation reaction between substituted aldehydes (1a-1i), malononitrile (2) and 2,4-dinitrophenyl hydrazine (3) in presence of acylated Guar-gum as biocatalyst under solvent-free conditions. The progress of reaction was checked by thin layer chromatography and melting points reported are uncorrected. All synthesized compounds (4a-4i) were characterized by using 1HNMR and FTIR spectral techniques and evaluated for in vitro herbicidal activity against Raphanus sativus L. (Radish seeds). All compounds (4a-4i) were also evaluated for their antifungal activity against Rhizoctonia solani and Aspergillus niger by poisoned food techniques method. Antioxidant activity of synthesized compound was also determined. From activity results, it was found that compound 4f was most active against both Raphanus sativus L. (root) and Raphanus sativus L. (shoot) respectively. Compounds 4e and 4h were found most active against Rhizoctonia solani and Aspergillus niger fungus respectively at highest concentration. Compound 4e has shown maximum percentage DPPH free radical scavenging activity 1.e. 61.47% at 100 µg/mL concentration. Less reaction time, excellent yield of products, mild reaction conditions and simple work-up are some merits of present methodology.

Several diluting–protecting media and different methods have been used for storage of ram semen in liquid and frozen state (Salamonand Maxwel, 2000). Addition of preservatives media for increasing storage of sperm are very important for successful artificial insemination in rams. This study was conducted on evaluate the effect of 3 plant extract. Ejaculates were collected using an electro-ejaculator twice a week during there productive season. After pooling, each pooled ejaculate was split into four equal aliquots and diluted with based Tris, Citric acid, Egg yolk, glicerol extender containing plant extracts (0.02% and % 0.04 Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) (Rosemary extract -oil-soluble)); Echinacea (Echinacea purpurea) (0.5 mg/mL and 1 mg/ml) and St. John’s wort (Herba Hyperici) (0.5 mg/mL and 1 mg/mL) at a final concentration of approximately 2x108 motil spermatozoa per straw. These results indicate that that the addition of Echinaceaand Rosemary as antioxidants have more positive effects for Awassi rams on spermatological parameters.
