In the mountainous canton Grisons, much visited by tourists, the forest has always had an important role to play. New challenges are now presenting themselves. The article goes more closely into two themes on the Grisons forestry agenda dominating in the next few years: the increased use of timber and climate change. With the increased demand for logs and the new sawmill in Domat/Ems new opportunities are offered to the canton for more intensive use of the raw material, wood. This depends on a reduction in production costs and a positive attitude of the population towards the greater use of wood. A series of measures from the Grisons Forestry Department should be of help here. The risk of damage to infrastructure is particularly high in a mountainous canton. The cantonal government of the Grisons has commissioned the Forestry Department to define the situation concerning the possible consequences of global warming on natural hazards and to propose measures which may be taken. The setting up of extensive measurement and information systems, the elaboration of intervention maps, the estimation of the danger potential in exposed areas outside the building zone and the maintenance of existing protective constructions through the creation of a protective constructions register, all form part of the government programme for 2009 to 2012. In the Grisons, forest owners and visitors will have to become accustomed to the fact that their forests must again produce more wood and that, on account of global warming, protective forests will become even more important than they already are today.

Pulmonary tuberculosis is still a serious health problem that needs to be equipped with appropriate countermeasures and accurate. The increase in cases and deaths caused by pulmonary tuberculosis, among others, because it is not threated any of them do not understand have been infected with the TB bacillus so that the prevalence of tuberculosis is still quite high. Therefore, the necessary handling seriously through health education role that communication education with intensive use of media that will reduce the prevalence or at least remain. In general. The purpose of the study to evaluate the effectivesness oh the use of media in reducing the prevalence of tuberculosis. The study “evaluation of Effectiveness of Media in Reducing Prevalence Of Tuberculosis in The Central Eradication and Prevention of Lung Disease Pamekasan “ use purposive sampling with the snowball method. Sample research is pulmonary tuberculosis  patients treated in BP4 much as 3 respondents. The results showed three informants as respondents are all in the first 2 months visiting tuberculosis drug taking as much as 8 times visit support the availability of infrastructure, knowledge of personel. Strategy, advocacy, resoueces and funding are two inhibiting factors lack of education and knowledge of the patients, the lack of commitment oh health workers all of the prevalence of tuberculosis as well as visual media is the most effective in reducing the prevalence of tuberculosis. Sugestions for researchers to address the increasing prevalence of lung integration across every sector and cross-sectoral programs to develop internal networks and external networks.

Introduction: Some studies on academic half days (AHDs) suggest that learning in this context is associated with a lack of educational engagement. This challenge may be amplified in distributed campus settings, where geographical disadvantages demand reliance on videoconferencing or considerable time spent travelling to in-person learning events. Concerns about the educational effectiveness of AHDs by learners within our distributed campus setting led to the development and evaluation of the One Room Schoolhouse (ORS), a unique, evidence-informed, community-based curriculum that partially replaced the AHD sessions delivered at the main campus. It was hypothesized that creating an AHD experience that was clinically reflective of the community in which residents practiced and where residents were given the autonomy to implement novel pedagogical elements would result in better test scores and improved learner satisfaction among ORS learners. Methods: The ORS was implemented at McMaster University’s Waterloo Regional Campus in 2017. Residents across training cohorts (N = 9) engaged in co-learning based on scenarios co-developed from clinical experiences within the region. The learning approach relied on multiple, evidence-informed pedagogical strategies. A multi-method approach was used to evaluate the ORS curriculum. Between-subject analyses of variance were used to compare scores on practice exams (COPE and PRITE), in-training assessment reports (ITARs), and objective structured clinical exams (OSCEs) between learners who took part in the ORS and learners at the main campus. A semi-structured focus group probing residents’ experiences with the ORS was analyzed using interpretive description. Results: ORS learners significantly outperformed learners at the main campus on the November OSCE ( p = .02), but not on the COPE, PRITE, ITARs, or September OSCE ( p’s < .05). Qualitative themes suggested advantages of the ORS in inspiring learning, engaging learners, and improving self-confidence in knowledge acquisition. These findings are aligned with the broader literature on learner agency, social development, and communities of practice. Conclusion: While the quantitative data only showed a significant difference between the 2 curricula on 1 measure (ie, the November OSCE), the qualitative findings offered an opportunity for educators to reimagine what medical education might consist of beyond the confines of a “traditional” AHD. Creating opportunities to enhance personal agency when acquiring knowledge, inspiring engagement about patient-related problems, and incorporating interdisciplinary learning through community engagement were critical pedagogical elements that were attributed to the success of the ORS.

Abstract Background Multi-disciplinary engagement and education remain key measures for Antimicrobial Stewardship Programs (ASPs). Over 3 years, our ASP has undergone key changes to pre-authorization review, post-prescriptive activities, and core team members, coinciding with a 30% increase in stewardship interventions. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the familiarity of Nursing, Pharmacy and Prescribers at our academic medical center regarding ASP activities and services, as well as perceived impact on patient care and value. Secondary objectives were to determine what resources are currently utilized and areas for improvement. Methods Distinct surveys were distributed to three participant groups: Nurses, Pharmacists, and Prescribers (Housestaff, Advanced Practice Providers, and staff physicians). Questions were developed to assess familiarity, perceived value, and overall satisfaction with the ASP. Additional items included questions on the current use of ASP resources and educational engagement. Survey results were compared to a similar survey conducted 3 years amongst the same participant groups. Results The survey was delivered electronically to 3367 Prescribers, Nurses and Pharmacists. 403 responders completed the survey (208 Nurses, 181 Prescribers, and 18 Pharmacists). Familiarity was lowest amongst Nurses, but almost doubled compared to 2016 (Figure). Prescribers cited “restricted antibiotic approval”, “de-escalation”, and “alternative therapies relative to allergies” as the three most common interaction types, similar to 2016. ASP interactions continued to be rated “moderate” or “high” value (88.4% vs 89.15% in 2016), however, face-to-face interactions were preferred by only 4% of responders (unchanged compared to 2016). Prescribers also responded uncommon use of ASP online resources (20%) and clinical decision support tools (34%). 78% of responders expressed desire for increased ASP-related education. Conclusion As ASPs evolve, it is important to constantly evaluate impact and value, and identify areas for growth. Despite ASP familiarity being high and interactions valued, we need to further optimize ASP provided resources, clinical support tools, and educational offerings. Institutional habitus is a useful concept for analysing how schools adopt certain dispositions and influence students’ educational trajectories. The literature, however, reduces its source to collective social class mediated by an institution and only employs it to explain the reproduction of inequalities. Instead, I offer a relational framework that ties the concepts of institutional habitus, field and capital, and investigate how a secondary school improves the educational engagement of working-class, second-generation Turkish immigrant youth in Germany. The findings reveal that the school’s institutional habitus combines the communal values of the immigrant community and the middle-class academic practices; the former narrows the gap between home and school, and the latter modifies the classed feelings of students. The relational framework discloses that schools’ educational status in the educational field constitutes the source of institutional habitus, and that the institutional habitus can also explain the reduction of inequalities by schools.

Cassava makes an important contribution to improving food security and rural incomes in sub-Saharan Africa, as it is tolerant of drought and poor soil and its cultivation does not require much labour. However, the fresh roots are bulky and perishable and need to be processed before they can be marketed; processing also removes the cyanogens which make many varieties poisonous in their raw form. Cassava roots are turned into granules, flours, pastes and chips, with a wide range of flavours and appearances for different areas and markets. Many different processing techniques are used, some of which make intensive use of fuelwood while others require a plentiful water supply. These requirements, as well as the need for a good transport and marketing infrastructure, limit the expansion of cassava production in sub-Saharan Africa, but technical solutions are being found.

This study examines interrelations among students’ educational engagement, desired and actual school-year employment, substance use, and other problem behaviours. Cross-sectional findings from representative samples of 8th-, 10th-, and 12th-grade students in the United States, totalling over 300,000 respondents surveyed during the years 1992–1998, include the following: Large majorities of adolescents wish to work part-time during the school year, although most in earlier grades are not actually employed. Those who desire to work long hours tend to have low grades and low college aspirations; they are also more likely than average to use cigarettes, alcohol, and marijuana. Students’ preferences for part-time work emerge at younger ages (i.e., earlier grades) than actual work, and the preferences show equal or stronger correlations with educational disengagement and problem behaviours.
