Abstract BackgroundBreast cancer is one of the most common cancers in Iranian women. They will experience a mental health problem such as depression before, during or after treatment. The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of group metacognitive therapy on depression, cognitive emotional regulation, and meta-cognitive beliefs in women with breast cancer.Methodsin this randomized controlled clinical trial, a total of 24 depressed patients with breast cancer were randomly allocated to experimental and control groups. The experimental group received meta-cognitive therapy in 8 weekly sessions but control group received treatment as usual. Beck's Depression Inventory, cognitive emotion regulation questionnaire, and meta-cognitions questionnaire were completed before, after and one month after intervention. Data were analyzed using Wilcoxon and Chi-square tests.ResultsThe mean score of depression in experimental group was reduced from 21.6 ± 4.83 in the pre-test to 13.83 ± 8.12 in one month follow-up (P = 0.16) but there was no significant difference in control group. The mean score of cognitive emotion regulation did not show a significant change in the two groups during the study and follow up period. The mean score of meta-cognitive beliefs was reached 68.75 ± 15.74 from 79.51 ± 10.72 in the experimental group during the follow-up period (P = 0.006), but there was no significant difference in control group in the score of metacognitive beliefs.ConclusionThese findings support the efficacy of meta-cognitive therapy as a viable psychosocial intervention in depressed patients with breast cancer.Trial registrationIRCT201606288473N5. Aims: Most people in the community believe that substance abuse is masculine, while women are progressing alongside men in this area, with statistics indicating an increasing number of infected women. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of enriching couples relationships on tolerance of distressed women who were drug abusers Methods & Materials: This is a quasi-experimental study with pre-test, post-test and follow-up test with control group. Initially, 40 women were selected from the study and 20 were randomly assigned to the experimental group and 20 to the control group. Subjects were then assessed using a distress tolerance test (Simmons & Gahr, 2005). Experimental group participants participated in enrichment sessions based on Doba, Graham, Britz and Minatra (2009) choice theory and control group subjects remained on the waiting list. A follow-up test was taken after three months. Multivariate analysis of variance with repeated measures was used to analyze the data. The above analyzes were performed with SPSS V. 24 software Findings: The results indicated that there was a significant difference between the mean of pre-test, posttest and follow-up scores of distress tolerance scales in the experimental and control groups. (P<0.05). The mean distress tolerance in the experimental group increased from 34.533 to 42.80 in the pre-test phase and reached 42.533 in the follow-up phase. Also, the significant interaction between the stages with the experimental group in the mentioned variable indicates that in the post-test and follow-up stages, the mean of the experimental groups was significantly higher than the control group. Conclusion: Due to the increasing trend of addiction in women, proper education is one of the essentials. Therefore, it is recommended to take effective steps to improve couple distress tolerance training by enriching couple relationships

AbstractIntroduction: Children are vulnerable to damage. Health problems in children, especially ifnecessitate hospitalization, can cause stress in their parents that may persist even long afterdischarge. This study aimed to investigate the effect of implementing follow-up care plans onstress in mothers of children discharged from pediatric surgical units. Methods: A quasi-experimental study was conducted on 64 mothers whose children were hospitalized in the surgical wards of two educational hospitals affiliated to Isfahan Universityof Medical Sciences, Iran. The participants were randomly assigned into two groups of controland experimental. The data collection tools included a demographic data questionnaire andstress response inventory (SRI). The interventions were performed using a four-stage follow-upcare plan. The data were analyzed using SPSS software version 13 and descriptive statistics, independent t-test, repeated measures analysis of variance (ANOVA), and least significant difference (LSD) test. Results: The mean (SD) stress scores of the experimental group were 64.1 (28.8), 20.4 (12.4),and 11.6 (7.5) before, one week, and one month after the intervention, respectively. In the control group, these scores were 61.2 (29.2), 59.9 (25.5), and 46.7 (19.1), respectively. The results showed the mean score was significantly lower than that of the control group at oneweek and one month after the intervention in the experimental group. Conclusion: Our results demonstrated that a follow-up care plan can decrease the stress levelsof mothers as a continuity of patient care even after discharge.

Introduction: Kangaroo Mother Care is a simple and feasible intervention; acceptable to most mothers admitted in hospitals. There may be benefits in terms of reducing the incidence of hypothermia with no adverse effects of Kangaroo Mother Care. Kangaroo Care infants showed improvement in regular breathing patterns and virtually no periodic breathing, weight gain in low birth babies, suggesting  that Kangaroo Mother Care is safe for these infants. Materials and Methods: Randomized control trai, l  experimental and control group design was used in study this study was conducted in post natal wards of AVBR Hospital. In this study samples were newborns that were fulfilling the inclusion and exclusion criteria. 500 newborns were selected and it was equally divided into two groups as control 250 and experimental 250. Random sampling technique was used in this study. A checklist regarding the frequency and duration of KMC was prepared for the experimental group.  Results: The mean weight gain in the control group at birth is 2.71, on discharge it is 2.53 and on follow up it is 3.07. The mean weight gain in the experimental group at birth is 2.74, on discharge it is 2.67 and on follow up it is 3.31.  Conclusion: Significant difference was found in the mean weight gain between experimental and control group. Thus it is concluded that KMC is effective in increasing the weight of the newborn babies.

AbstractThis quasi-experimental study investigated the effect of teaching aesthetic skills to faculty members on development of their effective teaching performance through a two-group pretest-posttest design. The sample included 32 faculty members at a major Iranian university who were divided into the experimental (11 participants) and control groups (21 participants). The experimental group was taught to use aesthetic skills in the teaching and learning processes; however, no intervention was applied to the control group. To evaluate the effective teaching performance of the faculty members, a tailor-made questionnaire was used in two pretest and posttest stages, where randomly chosen students were asked to express their opinions about the faculty membersí performance. The sample size of the students was 1096 in the pretest stage and 935 in the posttest stage. Paired t-test results showed that there was no significant difference between the mean effective teaching scores of the faculty members in the control group in the pretest stage and in the posttest stage. However, the mean effective teaching scores of the faculty members in the experimental group were found to be significantly higher in the posttest. In addition, although there was no significant difference between the mean effective teaching scores of the two faculty groups in the pretest, faculty members in the experimental group outperformed their counterparts in the control group. Based on the findings, applying aesthetic skills by faculty members in the teaching and learning processes can pave the way for sustainable development of their effective teaching performance. Therefore, faculty members are recommended to acquire the required knowledge and skills to better use aesthetic skills in the teaching process.

Making connections between the representations of trigonometric functions and an interpretation of graphs of the functions are major challenges to many students. This study explores the effectiveness of the GeoGebra on grade 12 students’ success in making connections between the representations of trigonometric functions and the interpretation of graphs. A non-equivalent control-group pre-test post-test quasi-experimental design was used. The sample of the study consisted of sixty-one grade 12 students from two schools. The results showed that there was a statistically significant difference between the mean achievements of the experimental group and the control group on making connections between representations of trigonometric functions, and on analyses and interpretations of representations of trigonometric functions, in favour of the experimental group. This study extends the findings of previous studies on the effectiveness of dynamic mathematics software on students’ learning of representations and interpretation of graphs of trigonometric functions.            Keywords: GeoGebra, functions graphs, Trigonometric functions

This quasi-experimental study involves the experimental and control group which consist of 60 students in first year of SMA Muhammadiyah Sidenreng Rappang   2019/2020 academic year.  The reading test is used to collect data to find out do the students can achieve significant result in reading test using Text-based Character. Based on the result the mean score of the experimental group pre-test was 72.67 and classified into good classification, while the control group was 69.63 classified into good. The mean score of the post-test after treatment for the experimental group was 82.43 (very good) while the control group was 76.53, (good) classification still.  The researcher found that the T-table is higher than the t-test (α) (1.659<2.021). It means that there is a significant difference in the pre-test of the control and experimental group, while in post-test of an experimental and control group, the researcher finds that the T-test is higher than the alpha and previous score in the the pre-test (α) (3.089>2.021). The degree of freedom is 58. This study reveals that the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted, and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. This is means that the use of Text-based Characters can improves students' reading skills in significant way.

    The present study aimed at uncovering the effectiveness of employing the enrichment activities for mental thinking on the development of mathematical thinking and achievement among Grade 7 students. To achieve the research objectives, the researcher used the semi experimental design known as the design of the control group with the tribal and remote tests. In light of the experimental design, the average Grade 7 students tested the sample of the study in the second semester of 30 students who were divided into 15 students for the experimental group and 15 students for the control group after checking the validity and stability of the tools. The results showed that there was a statistically significant difference at (0.05) between the mean scores of the experimental and control groups in the cognitive achievement test related to the unit of Engineering in the second semester and the mathematical thinking test for the average of the experimental group. The results also showed a statistically significant difference) between the average scores of the experimental group students in the tribal and remote applications in the cognitive achievement test and the mathematical thinking test, and in favor of the average post-implementation. In the light of these results, the study presented a number of recommendations and suggestions.   ، ، ، ،

Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) is one of the most common anxiety disorders. It has been reported that psychological treatments like Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is effective for patients with GAD. The purpose of the present research was to investigate the effectiveness of CBT on Quality of Life (QOL) and worry in patients with GAD. A sample of 30 patients with GAD who had been referred to psychiatry offices in Isfahan, Iran were selected and assigned into an experimental group (n=15) and a control group (n=15) randomly.  The experimental group received CBT in 8 weekly sessions. All participants completed the World Health Organization Quality Of Life-Brief (WHOQOL-BREF) questionnaire and the Penn State Worry Questionnaire (PSWQ) at pretest, posttest and follow up. The results of MANCOVA showed that the mean scores of QOL in the experimental group was significantly higher than the control group at the posttest and follow up (P<0.05) and the mean scores of worry in the experimental group was significantly lower than the control group at the posttest and follow up (P<0.05) It is concluded that CBT can be applied for the patients with GAD as a useful psychological treatment. In general, CBT can improve QOL and decrease worry in patients with GAD.

Introduction The incidence of gastric ulcers in patients with abdominal stoma is high and affects the quality of patients’ life. Aim To evaluate the effect of Adib herbal ointment containing chamomile rose, black nightshade origin versus Comfeel and Conveen ointments on the skin of abdominal stoma. Material and methods This is a clinical study in which the volunteers were stoma patients. Study group consisted of 52 qualified subjects, 26 were included in the experimental group and 26 in the control group. A 2-part questionnaire was used for the data collection. The 1st part was demographic information. The 2nd part of the data collection was evaluated according to the pressure ulcer scale for healing (PUSH) tool, which used for examining skin ulcers around the stoma. P ≤ 0.05 was considered as a significant. Results and discussion The results of the Mann–Whitney test showed that between the mean score of the total score of the wound before intervention (P = 0.92) and on the 3rd day (P = 0.476), 6th (P = 0.222), 9th (P = 0.11) and 12th (P = 0.418), there was no significant difference between the control and test groups. Also, the Friedman test (intra-group) also showed that between the mean score of the total score of the wound before the intervention and the 3rd, 6th, 9th and 12th days in the control group (P = 0.0001) and in the experimental group (P = 0.0001) There was a significant statistical difference. Conclusions Based on the study, Adib herbal ointment could be recommended for the treatment of stoma to the skin as an herbal product as other common treatments.
