Abstract The stressed environment of the inclined coal seam roadway is complex and changeable, and the damage degree of surrounding rock increases, threatening the safe mining of coal mines. To improve the effectiveness of stability control of surrounding rock of this kind of roadway, the deformation and failure law of the inclined coal seam roadway is analyzed based on the complex function theory. It optimizes the solution process and accuracy of the mapping function coefficient and deduces the analytical solution of surrounding rock stress and deformation inclined coal seam roadway. The deformation and failure mechanism of surrounding rock in inclined coal seam roadway is revealed theoretically and verified by numerical simulation and physical simulation test. The results show that the stress and deformation of roadway surrounding rock in inclined coal seam show obvious asymmetric distribution characteristics. The stress and deformation of roadway surrounding rock on the right side are greater than on the left side. The two sides of the roadway, the right side of the roof and the roof angle of the right side, are the key positions of roadway stress concentration and deformation. According to the variation law of stress and deformation distribution of roadway surrounding rock, roadway cyclic deformation and failure theory is put forward. The numerical simulation and physical simulation test show that the deformation and failure law of roadway is consistent with the theoretical analysis results, and the cyclic deformation and failure mechanism of roadway in inclined coal seam is verified.

Deformation and failure mechanism of the surrounding rock of the floor roadway under the influence of working face mining is complicated, and roadway control is difficult. The floor roadway of the 11123 working face in Pan’er Mine is taken as the research object of this study based on semi-infinite body theory of elastic mechanics to establish a mechanical model along the advancing direction of the working face and derive the stress expression of any point in the affected area of floor mining. According to the theoretical results, effective reinforcement and support schemes are then proposed. FLAC3D numerical simulation analyzes the stress and deformation of the surrounding rock of the floor roadway before and after the reinforcement. The numerical simulation results showed that (1) mining abutment pressure of the overlying working face forms a certain range of stress concentration on the roof and two sides of the roadway and will cause deformation and damage to the floor roadway and (2) overall bearing capacity of the surrounding rock of the roadway is significantly improved, and surface displacement of the floor roadway is reduced by 64 mm through the reinforcement and support of the floor roadway. On-site monitoring data of the floor roadway in the 11123 working face of Pan’er Mine showed that the maximum displacement of the roadway roof and two sides is controlled at approximately 80 mm, and the surrounding rock deformation of the roadway is appropriately controlled to meet the needs of safe production.

To study the occurrence process, as well as the temporal and spatial evolution laws, of rockburst disasters, the roof deformation of continuous heading roadways during rockburst was studied through a physical similarity simulation test with a high similarity ratio and low strength. The deformation and failure evolution law of the roadway roof in the process of rockburst were analyzed by using detection systems, including a strain acquisition system and a high-power digital micro-imaging system. The results show that the rockburst of the roadway roof can be divided into four stages: equilibrium, debris ejection, stable failure, and complete failure stage. According to the stress state of a I–II composite crack, the theoretical buckling failure strength of the surrounding rock is determined as 1.43 times the tensile strength. The flexural failure strength of a vanadium-bearing shale is 1.29–1.76 times its compressive strength. With continuous advancement in the mining time, the internal expansion energy of the roadway roof-surrounding rock in the equilibrium stage continuously accumulates. The fracture network continuously increases, developing to the stable failure stage, with bending deformation, accompanied by continuous particle ejection until the cumulative stress in the failure stage increases, and the tensile state of the rock surrounding the roof expands radially into deep rock. A microscopic damage study in similar material demonstrated that the deformation of the roadway roof is non-uniform and uncoordinated. In the four stages, the storage deformation of the rock surrounding the roadway roof changes from small accumulation to continuous deformation, to the left (or deep rock). Finally, the roadway roof-surrounding rock becomes completely tensioned. The research results presented in this study provide a reference for the prediction and control of rockburst in practical engineering.

Abstract In order to study the deformation and failure mechanism of surrounding rock of roadway in inclined coal seam, the physical similarity model of right-angle trapezoidal roadway in inclined coal seam, in which the non-contact digital image correlation (DIC) technology and the stress sensor is employed to provide full-field displacement and stress measurements. The deformation control technology of the roadway surrounding rock was proposed and applied to engineering practice. The research results show that the stress and deformation failure of surrounding rock in low sidewall of roadway are greater than those in high sidewall, showing asymmetric characteristics, and the maximum stress concentration coefficients of roadway sidewall, roof and floor are 4.1, 3.4 and 2.8, respectively. A concept of roadway "cyclic failure" mechanism is proposed that is, the cyclic interaction of the two sidewalls, the sharp angles and roof aggravated the failure of roadway, resulting in the overall instability of roadway. The roadway sidewall is serious rib spalling, the roof is asymmetric "Beret" type caving arch failure, and the floor is slightly bulging. On this basis, the principle of roadway deformation control is revealed and asymmetric support design is adopted, and the deformation of roadway is controlled, which support scheme is effective.

Based on the geological conditions of 6# coal seam and 8# coal seam in Xieqiao Coal Mine, to determine reasonable entry layout of lower seam in multi-seam mining, alternate internal entry layout, alternate exterior entry layout and overlapping entry layout were put forward and simulated by FLAC3D. Then stress distribution and displacement characteristics of surrounding rock were analyzed in the three ways of entry layout, leading to the conclusion that alternate internal entry layout is a better choice for multi-seam mining, for which makes the entry located in stress reduce zone and reduces the influence of abutment pressure of upper coal seam mining to a certain extent,. And the mining practice of Xieqiao Coal Mine tested the results, which will offer a beneficial reference for entry layout with similar geological conditions in multi-seam mining.

The movement of the overlying strata in steeply dipping coal seams is complex, and the deformation of roof rock beam is obvious. In general, the backfill mining method can improve the stability of the surrounding rock effectively. In this study, the 645 working face of the tested mine is used as a prototype to establish the mechanical model of the inclined roof beam using the sloping flexible shield support backfilling method in a steeply dipping coal seam, and the deflection equation is derived to obtain the roof damage structure and the maximum deflection position of the roof beam. Finally, numerical simulation and physical similarity simulation experiments are carried out to study the stability of the surrounding rock structure under backfilling mining in steeply dipping coal seams. The results show the following: (1) With the support of the gangue filling body, the inclined roof beam has smaller roof subsidence, and the maximum deflection position moves to the upper part of working face. (2) With the increase of the stope height, the stress and displacement field of the surrounding rock using the backfilling method show an asymmetrical distribution, the movement, deformation, and failure increase slowly, and the increase of the strain is relatively stable. Compared with the caving method, the range and degree of the surrounding rock disturbed by the mining stress are lower. The results of numerical simulation and physical similarity simulation experiment are generally consistent with the theoretically derived results. Overall, this study can provide theoretical basis for the safe and efficient production of steeply dipping coal seams.

Taking +150 inclined shaft going through the soft rock strata at Muchengjian mine as the background, and based on the analysis of the deformation and failure feature of the roadway surrounding rock in the soft rock strata, this paper makes X-Ray Differaction (XRD) phase analysis of the soft rock; using finite difference numerical software FLAC3D, it stimulates and makes comparative analysis of the stress and deformation distribution characteristics of the roadway surrounding rock with bolt support with different intervals, and the support of the high-strength bolt with high pre-tension stress in the inclined shaft through the soft rock strata. The results show that the roadway surrounding rock in the +150 inclined shaft at Muchengjian mine is swelling soft rock prone to softening, degradation and swelling in water, which is bad for the roadway support; different types of rock strata have significant different impact on the stress and deformation of the roadway surrounding rock; for the soft rock roadway, the increased pre-tension stress of the bolt can cause higher compressive stress in the roadway surrounding rock and reduce the tension failure of the surrounding rock;compared with the end anchorage, the full-size anchorage with high pre-tension stress can cause the overlap of the conical compressive stress zone and enhance the roadway overall support.

Aiming at the problem of surrounding rock deformation and failure of mining roadway and its control, a mechanical model of the circular roadway under the mining environment is established, and the implicit equation of the plastic zone boundary is derived. By analyzing the morphologic evolution law of the surrounding rock plastic zone in the mining roadway, the key factors affecting the morphologic change of the plastic zone are obtained, that is, the magnitude and direction of principal stress. The influence law of the magnitude and direction of principal stress on the plastic zone of the mining roadway is analyzed by using numerical simulation software, and the deformation and failure mechanism of surrounding rock of the mining roadway is revealed. The results showed that the size and morphology of the plastic zone were closely related to the confining pressure ratio (η). Taking the boundary of η valuing 1, the larger or smaller η value was, the more serious the deformation and failure of surrounding rock would be; the morphology of the plastic zone changed with the deflection of the principal stress, with the location of the maximum plastic zone influenced by the principal stress direction. For the surrounding rock control in the mining-influenced roadway, it is advised to take the following methods: firstly, it is necessary to consider how to reduce or remove the influence of mining on surrounding rock, improve the stress environment of surrounding rock, and reduce the failure depth of the plastic zone, so as to better maintain the roadway. Secondly, in view of the deformation and failure characteristics of the mining roadway, the fractional support method of “yielding first and then resisting” should be adopted, which applies the cable supplement support after mining instead of the one-off high-strength support during roadway excavation, so as to control the malignant expansion of the surrounding rock plastic zone and prevent roof falling accidents.

There are many effective researches about tunnel at home and abroad, because the complexity of design and construction for Y-shape tunnel, in public there is no research about it yet, with the background of nanliang-tunnel which merge two single-beam into a two-lane tunnel as Y-shape. This paper obtains the rock mass mechanics parameters on the basis of nonlinear Hoek-Brown criterion first, and has a numerical simulation according the tunnel construction with FLAC-3D. we arrange many monitor sections in this model and discuss the law of deformation and failure in different section, at last have a comprehensive analysis of displacement, stress, plastic zone of different sites which caused by tunnel construction and discover that: with the distance of two single tunnels decreased, the interaction caused by the merging increase together with the compressive stress, tensile stress. The displacements of surrounding rock increase corresponding, the amplitude of variation is up to 44.8%, After the two-lane tunnel is 15m long, the stress and displacements redistribution of surrounding rock become stable.

For the support problem of set-up room to be 7.8m wide with thick and broken coal roof in Pangpangta coal mine, the truss cable support system is adopted to control the set-up room surrounding rock. The main support parameters, such as cable length, cable angle and distance between orifice and side of the truss cable support system are simulated and optimally designed by using numerical simulation software FLAC3D, by which the support scheme is designed reasonably. The support scheme is successfully tested at set-up room No. 10101 in Pangpangta mine. The set-up room deformation is small, and the support system is safe and reliable. This kind of support technology can be widely used in the similar set-up rooms.
