Abstract This paper solved a propulsion power minimization problem subject to a total data-bits constraint of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) enabled full-duplex mobile relaying system, where a full-duplex UAV relay is dispatched as a mobile relay to assist data transfer from a source to a destination by using three trajectory flying modes, namely, the UAV first flies in a circle above the source, next flies to the destination in a straight line, and finally flies in a circle above the destination until all the data bits has been transferred. Since the propulsion power minimization problem is a non-convex mixed integer programming problem and its closed-form solution is hard to obtain, it is transformed to three sub-problems so as to simplify its solution. After solving the three sub-problems, an iterative algorithm is proposed to achieve a sub-optimal solution to the propulsion power minimization problem, leading to a new hybrid circular/straight trajectory (HCST) design. Computer simulations are conducted and the results validated the proposed HCST design. It is shown that compared to the straight or circular flight trajectory design, the HCST performs well in terms of energy saving for the long distance and big data communication cases.

In this paper, we explore a joint subcarrier assignment and power allocation with statistical delay QoS guarantees for full-duplex OFDMA systems. Effective capacity theory which evaluates wireless channel capacity from a novel view of link layer provides a theory basis for modeling the system capacity under the conditions of delay QoS constrains. After modeling the aggregate effective capacity of the system, we formulate joint subcarrier assignment and power allocation problem as a mixed integer programming problem, whose target is to maximize the aggregate effective capacity. To solve this integer programming problem, we allocate initial power on each subcarrier and decompose it into two subproblems, which are subcarrier allocation problem and power allocation problem respectively. Further, we propose an alternative algorithm to achieve joint subcarrier assignment and power allocation, which can meet the “subcarrier continuity” constraint of uplink resource allocation. Simulations have shown that the performance of our proposed scheme is favorite. Additionally, we investigate the effect of the residual selfinterference, inter-node interference (INI) and statistical delay QoS exponent on the performance of systems.

In this paper, we study the transmit power minimization problem with optimal energy beamforming in a multi-antenna wireless powered communication network (WPCN). The considered network consists of one hybrid access point (H-AP) with multiple antennae and multiple users with a single antenna each. The H-AP broadcasts an energy signal on the downlink, using energy beamforming to enhance the efficiency of the transmit energy. In this paper, we jointly optimize the downlink time allocation for wireless energy transfer (WET), the uplink time allocation for each user to send a wireless information signal to the H-AP, the power allocation to each user on the uplink, and the downlink energy beamforming vectors while controlling the transmit power at the H-AP. It is challenging to solve this non-convex complex optimization problem because it is numerically intractable and involves high computational complexity. We exploit a sequential parametric convex approximation (SPCA)-based iterative method, and propose optimal and sub-optimal solutions for the transmit power minimization problem. All the proposed schemes are verified by numerical simulations. Through the simulation results, we present the performance of the proposed schemes based on the effect of the number of transmit antennae and the number of users in the proposed WPCN. Through the performance evaluation, we show that the SPCA-based joint optimization solution performance is superior to other solutions.

The integrated allocation and scheduling of handling resources are crucial problems in the railway container terminal (RCT). We investigate the integrated optimization problem for handling resources of the crane area, dual-gantry crane (GC), and internal trucks (ITs). A creative handling scheme is proposed to reduce the long-distance, full-loaded movement of GCs by making use of the advantages of ITs. Based on this scheme, we propose a flexible crossing crane area to balance the workload of dual-GC. Decomposing the integrated problem into four sub-problems, a multi-objective mixed-integer programming model (MIP) is developed. By analyzing the characteristic of the integrated problem, a three-layer hybrid heuristic algorithm (TLHHA) incorporating heuristic rule (HR), elite co-evolution genetic algorithm (ECEGA), greedy rule (GR), and simulated annealing (SA) is designed for solving the problem. Numerical experiments were conducted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed model and algorithm. The results show that the proposed algorithm has excellent searching ability, and the simultaneous optimization scheme could ensure the requirements for efficiency, effectiveness, and energy-saving, as well as the balance rate of dual-GC.

In this paper, a feed ration problem is presented as a mixed integer programming problem. An attempt to find the optimal quantities of Moringa oleifera inclusion into the poultry feed ration was done and the problem was solved using the Bat algorithm and the Cplex solver. The study used findings of previous research to investigate the effects of Moringa oleifera inclusion in poultry feed ration. The results show that the farmer is likely to gain US$0.89 more if Moringa oleifera is included in the feed ration. Results also show superiority of the Bat algorithm in terms of execution time and number of iterations required to find the optimum solution as compared with the results obtained by the Cplex solver. Results revealed that there is a significant economic benefit of Moringa oleifera inclusion into the poultry feed ration.

This paper solves an optimal reactive power scheduling problem in the deregulated power system using the evolutionary based Cuckoo Search Algorithm (CSA). Reactive power scheduling is a very important problem in the power system operation, which is a nonlinear and mixed integer programming problem. It optimizes a specific objective function while satisfying all the equality and inequality constraints. In this paper, CSA is used to determine the optimal settings of control variables such as generator voltages, transformer tap positions and the amount of reactive compensation required to optimize the certain objective functions. The CSA algorithm has been developed from the inspiration that the obligate brood parasitism of some Cuckoo species lay their eggs in nests of other host birds which are of other species. The performance of CSA for solving the proposed optimal reactive power scheduling problem is examined on standard Ward Hale 6 bus, IEEE 30 bus, 57 bus, 118 bus and 300 bus test systems. The simulation results show that the proposed approach is more suitable, effective and efficient compared to other optimization techniques presented in the literature.

As China proposes to achieve carbon peak by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060, as well as the huge pressure on the power grid caused by the load demand of the energy supply stations of electric vehicles (EVs), there is an urgent need to carry out comprehensive energy management and coordinated control for EVs’ energy supply stations. Therefore, this paper proposed a two-step intelligent control method known as ISOM-SAIA to solve the problem of the 24 h control and regulation of green/flexible EV energy supply stations, including four subsystems such as a photovoltaic subsystem, an energy storage subsystem, an EV charging subsystem and an EV battery changing subsystem. The proposed control method has two main innovations and contributions. One is that it reduces the computational burden by dividing the multi-dimensional mixed-integer programming problem of simultaneously optimizing the 24 h operation modes and outputs of four subsystems into two sequential tasks: the classification of data-driven operation modes and the rolling optimization of operational outputs. The other is that proper carbon transaction costs and carbon emission constraints are considered to help save costs and reduce carbon emissions. The simulation analysis conducted in this paper indicates that the proposed two-step intelligent control method can help green/flexible EV energy supply stations to optimally allocate energy flows between four subsystems, effectively respond to peak shaving and valley filling of power grid, save energy costs and reduce carbon emissions.
