The existence of COVID-19 pandemic brought extraordinary challenges to the stakeholders, teachers, parents, and students. Thus, the researcher believed that there is an effect of teaching-learning process in new normal education to students’ performance most especially using modular type of learning in Mathematics. With this, the study sought to determine the perception of the students regarding modular distance learning approach (MDLA) in Mathematics, identify the challenges of the students, examine the effect of MDLA to academic performance of students in Mathematics, determine the level of academic performance of students, determine the significant difference on perceptions when they grouped according to their gender and age, and determine the relationship of students’ perceptions regarding MDLA to their academic performance in Mathematics. The descriptive research design was utilized in this study. The researcher gathered one hundred seventy eight (178) grade 11 STEM students currently enrolled in MSU-Sulu Senior High School through the use of purposive random sampling. The survey questionnaire was applied in the study. Mean, frequency counts and percentage, t-test for independent samples, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), and person product-moment correlation were used to analyze and interpret the data. Based on the result, the study revealed that students’ perceptions agreed on using modular distance learning approach (MDLA). It means the students had positive perceptions regarding MDLA in Mathematics. The study also revealed that students agreed on using modular distance learning approach (MDLA) in Math have little challenges. It had also a positive effect to students’ performance in which students performed very satisfactory in Mathematics which means they had good quality performance. However, the study also revealed that it has no significant difference on their perceptions when they are grouped by gender and age which means the students had the same perceptions. Moreover, the findings revealed that there is no enough evidence to conclude that there is significant relationship of the students’ perceptions to the academic performance of the STEM grade 11 students using the new method of teaching modular distance learning approach (MDLA) amid COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, the researcher concluded that the academic performances of STEM students were not affected by their perceptions in MDLA. This means that the quality of performance did not depend on their perceptions. And the researcher also concluded that this approach helped students to improve their math performance. Since it proved that this approach improved the mathematical understanding and helped the students to have good performance then the researcher recommended that MDLA must be continued in face-to-face instruction and highly recommended to use modules. Teachers guided those who need special attention and need to prepare easy type of modules in Mathematics to understand well. Any member of the family can help to guide and serve as para-teachers. Trainings, workshops, and seminars should be provided to the teachers to improve themselves and academic performances of the students.

In a preliminary empirical study of social-science and humanities students enrolled in teacher-training programs at two German universities, the authors have found a disparaging view of technology and science among said students. Their material knowledge of technology and science is the result of content they learned in high-school themselves. After having graduated, they chose social-sciences or humanities as their subjects. There is little or no overlap between science and engineering subjects and social-science and humanities subjects in teacher training programs. Apart from the students choices, this is also the consequence of an institutionally established and strict segregation of the academic fields that does not, unlike in other university systems, require the students to enroll in at least basic interdisciplinary courses. The result for science and technology awareness among the students is problematic, to say the least. While their knowledge of science and technology -being the product of high-school education - is often not up to date and also lacking in current developments, their moral and ethical judgement about the implications of scientific research and use of technology is strong. The preliminary study also showed that the students are interested in new technological and scientific developments, they just lack the ability to include this into their worldview, which is very strongly influenced by their choice of subjects in the humanities and social-sciences. Teaching these students has convinced the authors that their lack of technology and science knowledge combined with their inherent tendency to judge science and technology from the point of view of their respective field, impairs their ability to take an adequate part in science and technology discourse. Their awareness, and thus, their competence to rationally engage with science and technology is lacking. That is in part due to the depiction of science and technology in humanities and social-science courses, and on the other hand due to a lack of current science and technology education as part of a humanities and social-sciences program. The result becomes even more alarming if we assume that the future teachers will continue to relay their heavily biased opinions on science and technology in general, as well as their deficient knowledge of specific technologies to their future students, thus generating a vicious cycle of inadequate technology and science awareness. As the authors’ study has shown, these students are really interested in science and technology, they just lack key competencies to make an analytical connec- tion between their field of choice (humanities and social sciences) and technology and science, without resorting to moral and ethical judgement.

The  objective  of  this  study  was  to  determine  the  correlation between  the   students‟  motivation  and   their   speaking  competence at grade 11 of Senior High School 4 Kendari. The design of this study was quantitative research and the population was all grade 11 students at Senior High School 4 Kendari with the total numbers of students was 620  students.  The  sample  of  this  study  was  class  XI  MIA  7  (36 students). The instrument of this study were questionnaire and students‟  speaking  score. The researcher collected the data by using questionnaire adapted from Sun (2009) as the data of students‟ motivation  and  final  speaking  score  to  get   data   about   students‟ speaking achievement. To analyze the data, the researcher used descriptive  statistic  to   view  the   students‟ speaking  achievement and their motivation based on five categories are; very low, low, medium, high, and very high. The   result of  this   study  showed  that  students‟ speaking achievement was mostly categorized in good criteria. It also showed that the students were highly motivated to learn speaking English by using video blog. The result of inferential statistics analysis showed that there was  a significant  correlation between students‟ motivation and their speaking achievement at grade 11 of Senior High School 4 Kendari. It was proved by the result of product moment correlation (rxy = 0.487), which was higher than r-table = 0.329.It means that motivation and achievement had a positive correlation.

As one of the scientific disciplines in the sociolinguistic field, Arabic is often only fixated on the concept of language without involving other scientific studies, thus giving birth to Arabic learners who are less responsive to the times. This study aims to analyze the values of integration-interconnection contained in the material in the Arabic textbook class XII Islamic Senior High School published by the Indonesian Ministry of Religion, supported by other relevant documents using a literature study. The data collected in the field were analyzed using descriptive-qualitative. This study indicated that the five chapters has already contained the value of integration-interconnection between religious, scientific, and social sciences. However, there were no value in scientific knowledge found in Chapter II and III. Also, the result of this study needed to be emphasized the application of the value of integration-interconnection in Arabic learning. It is not enough to rely only on textbooks alone, but it also requires the presence of teachers who participate in extracting other scientific values. The results are expected to contribute to improving the concept of Arabic textbooks, which contain the value of integration-interconnection. Further research is expected to explore the value of integration-interconnection at every level of education.  It is highly expected that this will create Arabic language learning that can meet other scientific disciplines.

Ang pag-aaral na ito ay layuning kilalanin, ilarawan, ipangkat at suriin ang mga karaniwang gramatikang pagkakamali ng mga Senior High School sa pagsulat at kaalaman sa linggwistikong kasanayan. Ang mananaliksik ay gumamit ng pamamaraan ng deskriptibong pananaliksik kasama ng pag-aanalisa ng datos. Binigyang pansin ng pananaliksik na ito ang mga salik na nakakaapekto sa paggawa ng mali sa gramatika ng Senior High School sa Technical-Vocational-Livelihood Industrial Arts Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Technical-Vocational-Livelihood Home Economics Caregiving at Academic-Humanities and Social Sciences ng Buenavista Integrated National High School para sa taong 2020-2021 at ginamitan ng istatistikal na pamamaraang weighted mean at standard deviation na pagsulat. Mga tanong ang ginamit upang makalap ang mga salik na nakakaapekto sa mga mag-aaral sa paggawa ng mali sa gramatika sa pagsulat ng Filipino. Ang ginamit na istatistikal na pamamaraan at statistically treatment para malaman ang porsyento at karaniwang pagkakamali sa gramatika. Ang kabisaan sa pagkatuto ng mga mag-aaral sa pagsulat ng sanaysay sa Filipino ay naging positibo at tinanggap ng mananaliksik batay sa mga naging sa mga tanong at pagsusulit na ginawa. Ayon sa mga krayteryang inilahad sa pagtatanong at pagtataya ay naging resulta na may kabuuang interpretasyong mataas. Ang antas ng kaalaman na ipinakita ng mga mag-aaral sa lingguwistikong kasanayan sa pagtataya na may kinalaman sa istruktura ng salita, pagbuo ng pangungusap, at bokabularyo / pangkahulugan ng salita ang naging resulta ay may kabuuang interpretasyon na kasiya-siya. Ang antas ng kaalaman ng mga mag-aaral na ipinamalas sa pagsulat ng sanaysay sa antas ng kaalaman sa lingguwistikong kasanayan, ay ipinakita din ng datos na nakalap na walang bisang palagay na “walang makabuluhang kaugnayan ng mga salik panghikayat sa pagsulat ng sanaysay sa antas ng kaalamang lingguwistikong kasanayan ng mga tagatugon”, sa pagkatuto ng mga mag-aaral batay sa pagsulat ng sanaysay ay nakakuha ng “May makabuluhang” Kaugnayan sa pagitan nila. Sa mga guro, sa Junior High School at Senior High School sa asignaturang Filipino, Ipagpatuloy natin ang magandang simulain at pagbuo ng mga kagamitang pagtuturo na maaaring makatulong at mahikayat ang mga mag-kasanayan upang makabuo ng iba’t ibang Estratehiya sa pagtuturo ng tamang pagsulat ng sanaysay at huwag mapagod sa pagwawasto ng mga sulatin ng mag-aaral at iyon ng sa gayon ay gawin nang maging magaling ang mga mag-aaral sa pagsulat ng iba’t ibang sulatin. Sa mga mag-aaral, mahalin, igalang ang mga guro na walang sawa sa pagbibigay ng kaalaman at seryosohin at sikaping mapahalagahan ang mga kagamitang pagtuturo na inihahanda ng guro. Sikaping makakuha ng magandang marka sa mga pagsusulit na ibinibigay ng guro, ito man ay pasalita o pasulat. Sa susunod na mananaliksik, iminumungkahing irebisa pa ng husto ang ginawang pag-aaral hinggil sa Karaniwang Gramatikang Pagkakamali sa Pagsulat ng Sanaysay Tungo sa Lingguwistikong Kasanayan.
