BACKGROUND Living in this digital era requires widespread adoption of information technology in modern health care industry. OBJECTIVE The aim of the current research was to study key attributes and behaviors related to successful leaders need to achieve vision and successful IT adoption. METHODS A Delphi technique with three rounds was held and guided by structured questions. Part of the study conducted online due to COVID-19 guidelines on distancing norms and lockdown in some areas. The answers of the participants were evaluated on the five- point Likert scale. RESULTS The findings showed that leadership qualities in health care sector resemble those required in other sectors. For digital innovations in rapidly changing healthcare space, leaders need to play more proactive role, be visionary, more dynamic, and lead by example to take the organization to the next level. CONCLUSIONS Leaders need to come out of their ivory towers, understand the fast-evolving scenario where the outstanding leadership qualities are essential to prove one’s mettle; outshine others; and create strong foundation for adoption of modern efficient customized digital technology in the fast growing health care sectors.


We live in a digital world or digital era. Hence, People will argue that not only do information communication technologies (ICTs) make e-health possible but rather that it is an innovation advance whose time has come. Notwithstanding, e-health while hoping to create well needed improvement in health care, it is rife with certain challenges which are not limited to e-health literacy. However, this paper looks specifically at e-health literacy. The paper, in particular overviews e-health while addressing the impacts of key contextual factors that impacts e-health and e-health literacy regarding the propensity to adopt and use e-health in LEDCs.

Introduction: Creating an educational climate that engages the students in the digital era is crucial as it prepares them for the future.Objectives: The aim of this multiple case study is to highlight the impact of creative educational environment on the students’ awareness of digital era tools.Methods: In this study three activities were organized. Firstly, a brain storming seminar titled “Medical Practice in Artificial Intelligence Era” was held. The second event was E-poster competitions which challenged the students’ curiosity to address the health problems and to introduce innovative solutions to solve it. Medical and nursing students presented 32 posters. Third activity was MeDuino, a hands-on workshop to familiarize the students with arduino technology in medical practice.Results: Around 260 participants attended the seminar. In their feedback, 72% of students found the topics attractive and more than 60% found its theme relevant and beneficial. E-poster competition was evaluated using a modified rubric scale. The data was analysed by SPSS showed that only “creativity” and “practicality” merits scored little above the mean range. There was no statistically significant difference in the mean score of ‘creativity’ and ‘practicality’ between medical students and nursing students. However, in general medical students’ scores were higher compared to nursing students. 90% of students said that they improved cognitively and 85% found it fascinating. In Meduino workshop (Robotics), The 30 participants practiced mini projects. 86 % found it attractive, 81% expressed that it improve d their cognitive about technology as noted in comparing the pre and post- event questionnaires. The students’ concerns included the time constraints short time and lack of lecturers’ guidance during posters’ preparation.Conclusion(s): Transforming educational environment physically, emotionally and socially managed to address few aspects digital era. Allocating more time, facilities and training in the informal curriculum could enhance health-care students mastering of future tools.International Journal of Human and Health Sciences Supplementary Issue: 2019 Page: 31


The conventional model of the healthcare system has become obsolete now. With the evolution of the digital era, new advanced technologies and service platforms are highly in demand now. One such technology is the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) which is a sub division of Internet of Things. It allows rapid proliferation of the information from the various interconnected devices through the help of wifi or cloud. This technology is both patient centric and organisation driven. It has become a mandatory for the organisation to implement this technology as without this, the organisations would be facing great challenges to meet the demand of the industry. This technology allows optimal service production with minimal cost investment. In this paper we will try to find out the scope and opportunities of IoMT in Indian health care sector and the impact of IoMT on increasing efficiencies of healthcare management. As statistical tools, Multiple Regression and Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) have been used in this study.

A semi structured questions guided the conducted sessions with members of senior leaders and directors of health information technology departments across key hospitals three cities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from February 2020 to September 2020. RESULTS The findings showed that leadership qualities in health care sector resemble those required in other sectors. For digital innovations in rapidly changing healthcare space, leaders need to play more proactive role, be visionary, more dynamic, and lead by example to take the organization to the next level. Some digital leadership attributes required from today’s digital leaders expect them to be turnaround leaders, have strategic management capabilities, and outstanding interpersonal skills. CONCLUSIONS Leaders need to come out of their ivory towers, understand the fast-evolving scenario where the outstanding leadership qualities are essential to prove one’s mettle; outshine others; and create strong foundation for adoption of modern efficient customized digital technology in the fast growing health care sectors.

The digital era has arrived in healthcare. Health-care consumers, including neurosurgery patients, are increasingly using social media and other digital technologies to meet their health-care needs. In this work, we describe an illustrative case from Mayo Clinic where interlacing social media strategies are leveraged to educate and engage patients. These strategies not only provide a valuable service to patients but they also reinforce the brand and serve as a marketing tool. Other digital technologies such as health-care apps and telemedicine are also adaptations that help meet the needs of the current neurosurgical patient. Similar to consumer trends in other service industries, these technologies provide patients with greater autonomy, convenience, and personalization. The digital era in health care presents an exciting opportunity for health-care organizations and providers to innovate, evolve, and improve the health of our patients.
