<p>Becoming a challenge for every country and society, poverty is a problem that must be overcome. In Islam, it is also viewed as a disease that must be cured. One of the effective instruments of poverty alleviation is community empowerment. Community empowerment is methods used by individuals, groups and communities so they are able to manage the environment, achieve their own goals, work and help each other to maximize their quality of life. In the Qur'an there are many verses that speak about theme of community empowerment. This paper discusses community empowerment according to the Qur'anic perspective using thematic interpretation methods. The principles of community empowerment in the Qur'an are the principle of <em>ukhuwwah</em>, <em>ta'awun</em> principle, and the principle of equality. The steps of empowerment as mentioned in the Qur'an include continuous self-development, encouraging zakat and infaq programs, conducting training and skills education for the community, and avoiding economic behaviors prohibited by Islam such as hoarding and monopoly (<em>ihtikar</em>).</p><p>***</p><p>Kemiskinan merupakan masalah yang harus diatasi dan menjadi tantangan bagi setiap negara dan masyarakat. Islam juga memandang kemiskinan sebagai penyakit yang harus disembuhkan. Karena kemiskinan dekat dengan kekufuran. Salah satu instrumen pengentasan kemiskinan yang efektif adalah dengan melakukan pemberdayaan masyarakat. Yang dimaksud dengan pemberdayaan masyarakat adalah cara dan metode yang digunakan individu, kelompok dan komunitas sehingga mereka menjadi mampu mengelola lingkungan dan mencapai tujuan mereka sendiri, dan dengan demikian mampu bekerja dan membantu satu sama lain untuk memaksimalkan kualitas hidup mereka. Dalam Al Quran terdapat banyak ayat yang membicarakan tema pemberdayaan masyarakat. Tulisan ini membahas pemberdayaan masyarakat menurut perspektif Al Qur’an dengan menggunakan metode penafsiran tematik. Prinsip-prinsip pemberdayaan masyarakat dalam Al Quran yaitu prinsip <em>ukhuwwah</em>, prinsip <em>ta’awun, </em>dan prinsip persamaan derajat. Langkah-langkah pemberdayaan sebagaimana disebutkan Al Qur’an antara lain pengembangan diri yang kontinyu, mendorong program zakat dan infaq, melakukan pembinaan dan pendidikan ketrampilan bagi masyarakat, dan tidak melakukan perilaku ekonomi yang dilarang oleh agama seperti menimbun  harta (<em>hoarding</em>) dan monopoli (<em>ihtikar</em>)</p>

<p>This community empowerment activity is intended to improve people awareness in financial household management, especially in retirement planning.  By doing a good retirement planning, it is expected that people will have a good quality of life during their retirement.  This activity is also intended to increase households’ financial literacy.  This activity was done at Sunday, 3 November 2019 at 4-6pm, participated by 18 members of Komunitas Ibu RT 09 RW 03 Kelurahan Dukuh Kecamatan Kramat Jati Jakarta Timur.  Lecturing, true or fals, guided teaching, question &amp; answer, simulation and discusion were used along this activity.  All participants were actively following the all program, from the beginning to the end of session.  Questions and opinions from participants show their awareness on the importance of retirement planning.  At the end of session, the participants agreed that having a good retirement planning before entering the retirement period is important.   Retirement planning is needed to reach a good wealth during the retirement.  The problem is that they do not have an enough knowledge to make a good retirement planning.   Therefore, a guidance and help are needed to increase their financial literacy, especially in composing a retirement plan.  Some topics that could be delivered to them in the future are introducing investment instruments and selecting a Financial Institution Pension Fund.</p>

Household waste from approximately three million residents of the city of Bandung, every day reaches approximately 2000 tons or reaches 6195 cubic meters consisting of 65% organic waste, 10% paper, 2% plastic, 1% glass, 1% cloth, 8% metal and other 13%. In terms of waste management, each region has the potential that if managed and utilized properly will help improve their quality of life. Society has an important role in efforts to empower the community, because society is the subject of empowerment. The RT.04 RW 011 administrator at Kompleks Pasirjati Bandung was moved to empower the community in managing household waste through Takakura / composting training. This training aims to empower the community in reducing household waste and in maintaining environmental cleanliness through environmentally friendly waste management. The training participants were residents in the Kompleks Pasirjati neighborhood RT.04, RW. 011 Bandung City, 22 people.

ABSTRACTThis study aims to determine the extent of Direct Funding Assistance to Community (BLM) through National Program of Community Empowerment-Independent Urban (PNPMMandiri Perkotaan) affected to the increased well-being of poor families in the city of Surabaya, so the results of this study are expected to know whether this program can be continues as poverty alleviation programs in Indonesia in the future or not. The techniques of data collection used in this study was survey and questionnaire used as instrument given to the sample of the population which received BLM PNPMMP in Surabaya, and data were analyzed by descriptive method. The research finding showed that the Revolving funds have been distributed to the community through PNPM in Surabaya to revive economic activity through micro smallbusiness that has been very beneficial for economic activities so that they have no longer funding from money landers to fulfill the financial needs for funding their business progress, and they were able to increased their business until 20-30%, and it was impact on household well-being about 10 s/d 30%. This indicate that the Funding Assistance could resolved the families financial difficulties, and improved their own business, the quality of their family’s food, and there was also able to save money for their familiy purpose.ABSTRAKSIPenelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui besarnya pengaruh Bantuan Langsung Masyarakat (BLM) melalui Program  Nasional Pemberdayaan Masyarakat (PNPM) Mandiri bagi peningkatan kesejahteraan bagi masyarakat miskin di Surabaya. Di samping itu tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah program tersebut dapat dilanjutkan sebagai program mengentas kemiskinan di Indonesia di waktu yang akan datang. Teknik pengumpulan data melalui survey dengan menggunakan kuisioner digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Sampel dari populasi yang memperoleh BLM PNPM di Surabaya serta dianalisa dengan metode deskriptif. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa dana bergulir yang didistribusikan kepada komunitas untuk menghidupkan kembali aktivitas perekonomian melalui usaha mikro dan kecil sangat bermanfaat bagi kegiatan perekonomian, sehingga masyarakat tidak melakukan pinjaman ke rentenir. Di samping itu kegiatan usahanya meningkat sampai dengan 20-30% serta meningkatkan kesejahteraan rumah tangga 10-30%. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa Bantuan Langsung Masyarakat dapat menyelesaikan permasalahan kesulitan keuangan masyarakat, serta meningkatkan usaha mereka, kualitas makanan keluarga serta juga meningkatkan tabungan keluarga

Abstrak Sebagai lembaga yang berfungsi menyimpan dan menyebarluaskan informasi, perpustakaan juga mempunyai andil besar untuk turut serta meningkatkan kualitas hidup masyarakat. Dalam hal ini, perpustakaan diharapkan mampu menyelesaikan permasalahan yang ada di masyarakat tidak hanya dalam bidang pendidikan namun juga bidang lainnya seperti sosial dan ekonomi. Melalui penelitian ini diharapkan mampu mengkaji dan menganalisis peran Perpustakaan Umum Kabupaten Gunungkidul dalam meningkatkan kualitas hidup masyarakat pesisir Gunungkidul yang relatif masih rendah. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Peneliti melakukan wawancara kepada 4 (empat) informan; yaitu Kepala Perpustakaan Umum Kabupaten Gunungkidul, seorang pustakawan Perpustakaan Umum Kabupaten Gunungkidul, dan 2 (dua) orang anggota pelatihan membatik. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kondisi ekonomi masyarakat pesisir Gunungkidul Yogyakarta relatif masih memprihatinkan, karena mayoritas pekerjaannya sebagai nelayan yang hasilnya belum mencukupi kebutuhan kesehariannya. Selain itu, minimnya kesadaran akan pentingnya pendidikan di wilayah setempat mengakibatkan banyaknyaanak usia sekolahyang tidak melanjutkan pendidikan ke jenjang yang lebih tinggi, lalu memutuskan untuk merantau ke kota-kota besar untuk mendapatkan pekerjaan. Oleh karena itu, Perpustakaan Umum Kabupaten Gunungkidul telah melakukan beberapa program layanan berbasis pemberdayaan masyarakat; seperti perpustakaan keliling ke daerah-daerah terpencil, perpustakaan keliling pantai,One Home One Library, pelatihan membatik, dan pelatihan pemasaran produk secara online. Dengan kegiatan-kegiatan tersebut, Perpustakaan Umum Kabupaten Gunungkidul tidak hanya berhasil memenuhi kebutuhan informasi masyarakat setempat, namun juga mampu memperbaiki kualitas hidup terutama dalam bidang pendidikan dan ekonomi. Kegiatan yang telah berjalan tersebut mampu menjadi role model bagi perpustakaan umum lainnya agar turut membantu memperbaiki kualitas hidup masyarakat penggunanya melalui kegiatan pemberdayaan masyarakat.   Kata Kunci: Perpustakaan Umum, Pemberdayaan masyarakat, masyarakat pesisir   Abstract As an institution that functions and disseminates information, a library also has a big part to participate in improving the quality of life of community. In this case, the library is expected to be able to solve the problems that exist in society not only in the field of education but also other areas, such as social and economic areas. This research is expected to study and analyze the role of the Public Library of Gunungkidul Regency in improving the quality of life of Gunungkidul coastal communities which is still relatively low.This research uses qualitative method with case study approach. The researchers interviewed 4 (four) informants; namely the Head of Public Library of Gunungkidul Regency, the librarian of Public Library of Gunungkidul Regency, and 2 (two) members of the training of batik. The result of this research indicate that the economic condition of Gunungkidul coastal communities Yogyakarta is relatively still concerned, because the majority of their work as a fisherman does not meet the need of their daily needs. In addition, the lack of awareness of the importance of education in the local area resulted in the number of school-age children who did not continue their education to a higher level, then decided to urbanize to get job in big cities. Therefore, the Public Library of Gunungkidul Regency has undertaken some community empowerment based on service programs; such as mobile libraries to remote areas, coastal libraries, One Home One Library, batik training, and online product marketing training. With these activities, the Public Library of Gunungkidul Regency not only succeeds in meeting the information needs of the local community, but also is able to improve the quality of life, especially in education and economy areas. Activities that have been undertaken are able to become a role model for other public libraries to help improve the quality of community life through community empowerment activities.   Key Words: public library; community empowerment; coastal communities

The Impact

Purpose The primary purpose of this study was to determine whether progressive tinnitus management Level 3 skills education workshops conducted at the Bay Pines and Boston Veterans Affairs hospitals result in consistent use of the presented tinnitus management strategies by patients 1–5 years after completing the workshops. Method In fiscal year (FY) 2015, the tinnitus workshop follow-up form was mailed to all veterans who completed the Level 3 workshops between FY 2010 and FY 2014. Data were compiled to determine which, if any, of the skills taught in the workshops were being used 1–5 years after completion of the workshops and the impact on quality-of-life indicators. Results All self-management skills were being utilized up to 5 years postcompletion; therapeutic sound was utilized the most. The majority of patients reported an improved ability to manage reactions to tinnitus and improved quality-of-life indicators. Over 90% of patients from both sites recommended the program to others with tinnitus. Conclusion The self-management skills taught in the progressive tinnitus management Level 3 workshops are sustained over time even when limited resources prevent the full complement of workshops or the involvement of mental health services. Early trauma and failures in attachment attunement can affect future relational patterns, health and well-being. The processing of trauma, especially complex trauma, through adequate interventions may help integrate traumatic experiences, enhance health and quality of life. Despite years of clinical practice with Identity oriented psychotrauma therapy (IoPT), there is a lack of scientific research on the subject.Objective: The study's aim was to explore the experiences and value of IoPT for persons with experiences of IoPT, whether as a therapist, client, representative and/or observer.Methods: The study has an explorative, qualitative design. Data collection through individual in-depth interviews and focus groups with 20 participants and data analysis were inspired by grounded theory.Results: The results showed an exploratory process of self-discovery and self-development, Getting to know the inner self, to which all categories were interrelated through their contribution to the process. The findings shed light on the experiences and tangible value of IoPT for the participants from the perspectives of client, therapist, representative and observer. These perspectives were intertwined and illuminated in terms of their contribution to the process.Conclusion: IoPT seems to have transformative potential in terms of a self-exploratory journey from multiple perspectives. The need for effective treatments to enhance health and prevent further ill health in persons affected by complex trauma motivates the exploration of novel treatment approaches and formats to support clients toward health enhancing strategies. Further quantitative and qualitative research is motivated to enhance our understanding of the workings and value of IoPT for self-development, health and quality of life.

This paper describes the empowerment of marginal women through women's life skill education program. Lack of access to education, economy, employment, public policy, basic rights, gender equality, politics, and health are the causes of women getting marginalized. Empowering women through life skills education are an effort to empower women through various activities. The result of program “PKH-P (Pendidikan Kecakapan Hidup-Perempuan” is behavior change, that is the increasing of knowledge, skill, and attitude of self. So that marginal women can help themselves to be more empowered and out of the condition of their marginality towards the quality of life and higher level of living welfare.

Resumen: Se describe la conformación de organizaciones sociales en el territorio del Cerro de Albornoz, localizado en la ciudad de Cartagena de Indias, creados con la finalidad de jalonar esfuerzos para la mejora barrial, calidad de vida, bienestar y el deseo de fortalecer asociaciones para materializar cambios positivos en el sector. Se analizan relatos de los pobladores y se presentan propuestas conducentes a propiciar herramientas que faciliten y empoderen la organización social para la transformación individual y social. Se espera que estos cambios se traduzcan en fortalecimiento comunitario en dicho sector y confianza institucional para el desarrollo integral de su territorio. ___Palabras clave: organizaciones sociales, empoderamiento comunitario, desarrollo urbano. ___Abstract: It describes the formation of social organizations in the Albornoz hill, located in the city of Cartagena de Indias, created with the aim of enhancing efforts for neighborhood improvement, quality of life, wellbeing and the desire to strengthen partnerships to materialize changes positive in the sector. Population accounts are analyzed and proposals are presented that are conducive to providing tools that facilitate and empower social organization for individual and social transformation. As contas da população são analisadas e são apresentadas propostas que são propícias ao fornecimento de ferramentas que facilitam e capacita a organização social para a transformação individual e social.
