<p><em>The development of social media has made the world like folded. The actual issues to be so fast and easy to synthetically discussed through a mailing list included in the polemic issue of Ahmadiyah. This paper discussed the genealogy and characteristics of CRCS UGM student mailing list in response to issues of Ahmadiyah in Indonesia and how far it reinforce the idea of archeology students in nurturing empathetic intelligence in internal conflicts of Islam. This study was a library research that relied on documents as objects of study then to do in contents analyzed. The conclusion is in polemics on Ahmadiyah in mailing CRCS indicate an attempt to find "objectivism" and "rationality" in the understanding that the issue be debated Ahmadiyah distintinkly and contextually. But among those showing different domination between objectivism and rationality that sometimes still have not found any common ground between the pro and anti Ahmadiyah although  they generally in inclusive way of life. However, the process of intense discussion through the mailing list is very helpful in understanding the sow intelligence building empathy among Muslims especially those who are experiencing conflict.</em></p><p><em>Perkembangan media sosial telah menjadikan dunia bagai dilipat. Isu-isu aktual menjadi begitu cepat dan mudah untuk didiskusikan melului sarana mailinglist (milis) termasuk dalam polemik isu Ahmadiyah. Paper ini mendiskusikan genealogi dan karakteristik milis mahasiswa crcs UGM Yogyakarta dalam merespon isu-isu Ahmadiyah di Indonesia dan sejauhmana hal itu memperteguh arkeologi pemikiran mahasiswa dalam menyemai kecerdasan empatik di tengak konflik intern umat Islam. Penelitian ini merupakan <em>library research </em>yang mengandalkan dokumen sebagai obyek kajiannya kemudian dilakukan analisis isi. Kesimpulannya adalah dalam berbagai polemik tentang Ahmadiyah di milis crcs menunjukkan upaya menemukan  “obyektivisme” dan “rasionalitas” dalam memahami polemik Ahmadiyah sehingga isunya menjadi distintif dan kontekstual. Namun diantara mereka menunjukkan dominasi yang berbeda antara obyektivisme dan rasionalitas sehingga terkadang masih dijumpai belum adanya titik temu antara yang pro maupun yang kontra meskipun secara umum nalarnya inklusif. Namun proses diskusi yang intens melalui milis tersebut sangat membantu dalam membangun kesepahaman dalam menyemai kecerdasan empati antar umat Islam terutama yang sedang mengalami konflik.</em></p>

I completed the manuscript for this book during the COVID-19 pandemic of Spring 2020. I happened to have been in Italy, where people spent almost three months in unusually restrictive “lockdown.” Connected with the outside through digital publications and social media, Italy and the world responded to the pandemic not only with recognition and empathy regarding the unfolding tragedy but also with pervasive and inventive humor. Immediately after rules for “social distancing” were promulgated, an Italian cartoon appeared in which a man and a woman are chatting each other up while an official kneels between them measuring the distance. When handshakes and hugs were discouraged, comic videos popped up on YouTube with individuals touching elbows or shoes in dance-like choreography; indeed, YouTube became loaded with hilarious skits, send-ups, and funny talk-show bits related to the pandemic. My old roommate from college, who kept an e-mailing list for social and political jokes, used it for the pandemic almost every day. Comedy, of course, cannot remove sickness and death, as Berowne acknowledges, but it can help us endure, and, even more, it can provide the shift in perspective that allows us to engage with something in a new way, to reimagine it, just as a joke can alter the momentum and possibilities of a casual conversation or a committee meeting. Shifting into the comic moment requires us to put our political, social, economic, religious, or other differences aside. We just might come back from it having changed our attitudes, and we might find ourselves, later, in the wake of the moment of comic enchantment, thinking more deeply still about matters....

The 2019 corruption perception index report attest to the fact that corruption is on the increase in Nigeria. With the level of widespread corruption in Nigeria, it needs to be tackled for the country to remain relevant among countries of the world. This work is structured to examine how social media have helped in the fight against corruption. The internet has helped the growth of social media in Nigeria because with Smartphone’s and handheld devices,  one  can  easily  connect to  the social  media  platform.  Technology  determinism  theory  and  Agenda-setting theory of communication were used for the study. Library research method was adopted for the study and relevant information about corruption and social media from journals, newspapers and books were analyzed. This study concludes among others that social media are effective in the fight against corruption. It exposes corrupt practices and persons and ensures that persons indicted are prosecuted. The study recommends, among others that government should effectively use social media handles and encourage whistle blowing to help fight corruption in Nigeria.

<p><em>The discourse of Sufism in contemporary period has been widely practiced. Even so, Sufism which is understood by Muslims there is disorientation in understanding it, especially as a result of the influence of Ibn Taimiyah and Ibn Khaldun. With a theological-rationalist approach, both have criticized and reconstructed Sufism teachings at a level that is acceptable to Muslims. Both also explain the meaning of Sufism as far as they can reach. This article examines the comparative discourse on the concept of Sufism between Ibn Taimiyah and Ibn Khaldun. This research is library research using descriptive-analytical and comparative methods. Their thoughts on Sufism were dissected in depth which was then compared to find common ground for similarities and differences. The Sufism paradigm put forward by Ibn Taimiyah and Ibn Khaldun provides an overview at the theoretical and practical levels that can be explained rationally. That way Muslims are not polarized in understanding Sufism which seems to love the afterlife and leave the world. Finally, this research shows that Sufism can be practiced by Muslims in their respective capacities. </em></p><p> </p><p>Wacana tasawuf pada masa kontemporer saat ini telah marak dilakukan. Meskipun begitu tasawuf yang dipahami oleh umat Islam terdapat disorientasi dalam memahaminya, terutama akibat dari pengaruh Ibn Taimiyah dan Ibn Khaldun. Dengan pendekatan teologis-rasionalis keduanya telah melakukan kritik dan rekonstruksi ajaran tasawuf dalam tataran yang dapat diterima oleh umat Islam. Keduanya juga menjelaskan makna tasawuf sejauh yang dapat mereka jangkau. Artikel ini mengkaji diskursus perbandingan konsep tasawuf antara Ibn Taimiyah dan Ibn Khaldun. Penelitian ini adalah studi pustaka (<em>library research</em>) dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif-analitis dan komparasi. Pemikiran keduanya atas tasawuf dibedah secara dalam yang kemudian dikomparasikan guna menemukan titik temu persamaan dan perbedaannya. Paradigma tasawuf yang dikemukakan oleh Ibn Taimiyah dan Ibn Khaldun memberikan gambaran dalam tataran teoritis dan praktis yang dapat dijelaskan secara rasional. Dengan begitu umat Islam tidak terpolarisasi dalam memahami tasawuf yang terkesan cinta akhirat dan meninggalkan dunia. Akhirnya penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa tasawuf pada dasarnya dapat dipraktikkan oleh umat Islam dalam kapasitasnya masing-masing.</p>

<p>Islam as a religion of da’wah has provided a lot of methods or ways to doing activities of da’wah to the people. One of interesting to discussed is about da’wah of Prophet Moses a.s to the most arrogant king at that time he is Fir’aun. The method did by Prophet Moses a.s is <em>qoulan layyinan</em> method. It is with a soft ways, even though he was facing the most arrogant people in the world. Then, how if the method of da’wah applied by a critical society now where the society more a critical attitude about situation and condition that are being now. This research used the library reseach. Because the sourch used in this research is books especially the previous boos of comentators in the al-Quran cause thematic studies in this research is al-Quran surah Ta ha verses 43-44. Analysis process of data in this research started by examining data that is available, it is some of comentators’s books and other supporting books. The process is reading and collecting data. After reading, the next is studied and examined. Then, the next step is making a reduksion of data that is done by way of making abstract and associated by phenomenon that happening at society this time. The results of this research shows that the study about phenomenon in the critical society that happening now must be matched with the da’wah <em>qoulan layyinan</em> method of Prophet Moses a.s. Because this time is the age of social media which continuous to grow. All complaints, criticisms and problems can be delivered everywhere and everytime, can be seen by anyone either by civil society and government, either by young and old. So it is unfortunate if the criticism that deliveried isn’t match with the based method of Islam. By knowing the various opinions of comentators of al-Quran about the method of dakwah <em>qoulan layyinan </em>with the soft attitude and words from Prophet Moses a.s in the al-Quran surah Ta ha verses 43-44, so the deliveried criticism by someone will be right on target and enter to heart of anyone who are given criticism.</p><p><strong> Abstrak</strong></p><p>Islam sebagai agama dakwah telah memberikan berbagai metode atau cara dalam melakukan kegiatan dakwah kepada ummat manusia. Salah satu yang menarik untuk dibahas tentang metode dakwah Nabi Musa a.s ketika menghadapi seorang Raja yang paling sombong pada waktu itu yaitu Fir’aun. Metode yang dilakukan Nabi Musa a.s adalah metode <em>qoulan layyinan</em> yaitu dengan cara yang lemah lembut, padahal ia tengah menghadapi seseorang yang paling sombong di muka bumi. Maka bagaimana jika metode dakwah itu diterapkan pada saat ini dimana masyarakat semakin kritis terhadap situasi dan kondisi yang terjadi dihadapannya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kepustakaan atau <em>library research.</em> Sebab sumber yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah buku-buku baik terutama kitab-kitab Tafsir para Ulama Ahli Tafsir karna kajian tematis pada penelitian ini adalah al-Qur’an surat Thaha ayat 43-44.<em> </em>Proses  analisis  data  pada  penelitian  ini  dimulai dengan  menela’ah data yang tersedia yaitu, beberapa kitab Tafasir para Ulama Tafsir dan buku-buku pendukung lainnya. Prosesnya adalah membaca, mengumpulkan data. Setelah dibaca, dipelajari, dan ditelaah, maka langkah berikutnya  adalah  mengadakan  reduksi  data  yang  dilakukan  dengan  jalan membuat  abstraksi serta mengaitkannya dengan fenomena yang terjadi pada masyarakat saat ini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kajian tentang fenomena masyarakat kritis yang terjadi saat ini haruslah sesuai dengan metode dakwah <em>qoulan layyinan</em> Nabi Musa a.s. Sebab saat ini merupakan zaman sosial media yang semakin berkembang. Semua keluhan, kritikan, dan permasalahan bisa disampaikan dimanapun dan kapanpun, dapat dilihat oleh siapapun baik dari kalangan masyarakat sipil maupun pemerintahan, baik muda maupun tua. Sehingga amat disayangkan jika kritik yang disampaikan tidak sesuai dengan metode yang sesuai dengan ajaran Islam. Dengan mengetahui berbagai pendapat para ahli tafsir tentang metode dakwah <em>qaulan layyinan </em>yaitu dengan sikap dan perkataan yang lemah lembut Nabi Musa pada al-Qur’an Surat Thaha ayat 43-44, maka kritik yang disampaikan seseorang akan tepat sasaran dan mengena ke hati orang yang diberikan kritik.</p>

The article considers business practices of Moscow small industry in the XIX century, basing upon physiological sketches of N. Polevoy and I. Kokorev, statistical data and the classification of professions are also presented. The author claims that the heroes of the analyzed sketches are the forefathers of Moscow small businesses and shows what a deep similarity their occupations and a way of life bear to the present-day routine existence of small enterprises.

Majority of the indigenous people who are the original inhabitants in Malaysia inhibit the remote area of tropical forest which is rich in natural resources. Their lives are separated from the outside community due to several factors such as geography, low literacy, negative perceptions of the surrounding community, and the closed-door attitude of the indigenous people. Consistent preaching activities have changed the faith of the indigenous people from animism orientation towards believing in the Oneness of God. The practice of Islam as a way of life in the lives of indigenous peoples is found to be difficult to practice because the fiqh approach presented to them does not celebrate their local condition. In this regard, this study will examine the socio-cultural isolation of indigenous peoples and their impact on the interpretation of Islamic law. To achieve this objective, the researchers have applied the library research method by referring to the literatures related to the discussion of Islamic scholars in various disciplines of fiqh and usūl al-fiqh. The research found that there is rukhsah and taysir approach given to isolated people as well as with local background to facilitate the religious affairs of the indigenous people. Abstrak Majoriti masyarakat Orang Asli yang merupakan penduduk asal di semenanjung Malaysia mendiami kawasan pedalaman di hutan hujan tropika yang kaya dengan khazanah alam. Kehidupan mereka terasing daripada masyarakat luar disebabkan beberapa faktor seperti geografi, kadar literasi yang rendah, pandangan negatif masyarakat sekitar dan sikap tertutup masyarakat Orang Asli. Gerakan dakwah yang dijalankan secara konsisten telah membawa perubahan kepercayaan sebahagian masyarakat Orang Asli daripada berorientasikan animisme kepada mempercayai Tuhan yang Esa. Pengamalan Islam sebagai cara hidup dalam kehidupan masyarakat Orang Asli didapati agak sukar untuk dipraktikkan lantaran pendekatan fiqh yang disampaikan kepada mereka tidak meraikan suasana setempat mereka. Sehubungan itu, kajian ini akan meneliti keadaan isolasi sosio-budaya masyarakat Orang Asli dan kesannya terhadap pentafsiran hukum Islam. Bagi mencapai objektif tersebut, pengkaji menggunakan kajian kepustakaan sepenuhnya dengan menelusuri literatur berkaitan dengan perbincangan sarjana Islam dalam pelbagai disiplin ilmu fiqh dan usul fiqh. Hasil kajian mendapati terdapat rukhsah dan pendekatan taysir diberikan kepada mereka yang hidup terasing serta berlatar belakang budaya setempat bagi memudahkan urusan keagamaan masyarakat Orang Asli.

As more and more people become part of the social networks like Twitter, Facebook, information which flows through the social network, can potentially give us good understanding about what is happening around in our locality, state, nation or even in the world. The conceptual motive behind the project is to develop a system which analyses about a topic searched on Twitter. It is designed to assist Information Analysts in understanding and exploring complex events as they unfold in the world. The system tracks changes in emotions over events, signalling possible flashpoints or abatement. For each trending topic, the system also shows a sentiment graph showing how positive and negative sentiments are trending as the topic is getting trended.
