The aim of this paper is to investigate how inertia affects users' willingness to explore the use of sports and fitness apps under the influence of status quo bias, and to explore the role of health goals in the process of exploring use based on goal setting theory. The population in this research is Chinese users who have already installed or used a sports and fitness app on their mobile device. Through an online survey technique, we collected 449 valid questionnaires by convenience sampling method. The results confirm that inertia negatively influences the users’ willingness to explore the use of sports and fitness apps and that inertia negatively influences perceived need, which, in turn, reduces the willingness to explore the use of sports and fitness apps; Furthermore, this study also verified health goal positive moderate the relationship between inertia and perceived need, as well as the relationship inertia and users’ willingness to explore the use of sports and fitness apps, revealing that health goals can effectively adjust for the effects of status quo bias in mobile fitness exercise. This study provides useful suggestions for the development and operation of sports and fitness app enterprises to help them make suitable marketing strategies according to users' needs, thus promoting the long-term development of sports and fitness app enterprises.

The article examines the specifics of the Russian Twitter communication space from the perspective of the agenda-setting theory by Maxwell McCombs and Donald Shaw. Various topics’ blogs are analyzed to identify the communication features of Twitter interaction with external communication channels and information platforms. The authors apply semantic and event analysis to consider the main methods of Twitter influence on the external communication environment, and provide the interpretation of the events in the external environment within social network community. Based on this analysis the authors conclude concludes about the role of Twitter as one of the news feeds interpretive aggregators from the external communication space, which transforms meanings and creates its own in the framework of influencing the audience, and consider further prospects for researching the Twitter media environment to identify its interrelations with the communication environment.

One of the news that has caught the attention of the Indonesian people since 2019 until now is the news about Covid-19. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of exposure to 41 TNI reports that were positive for Covid-19 in online media on people's attitudes in Bajawa City. The approach in this research is quantitative with a survey method. The sampling technique used is the purposive sampling technique and the sample obtained is 100 people. The theory used in this research is the Agenda setting theory. The study results found that there was an influence between news exposure of 41 soldiers with positive Covid-19 in online media towards people's attitudes in Bajawa City. This is evidenced by the presence of some respondents who are more afraid of news of death due to Covid-19 and do not understand how to prevent Covid-19.

Social Media Agendas of Political Parties Versus Social Media Agendas of TV News Services in the Parliamentary Election Campaign in 2019 The presented article concerns the convergence of symbolic political agendas of selected political entities (coalitions) (PiS-ZP, PO-KO) and agendas of selected broadcasters (Wiadomości TVP, Fakty TVN), in social media, in the parliamentary campaign in 2019. Theses concerning the overlapping of the media and political agendas of PiS-ZP and TVP and PO-KO and TVN in the thematic aspect were formulated, as well as the thesis about the affective orientation of media agendas towards specific political entities: TVN towards PiS-ZP and TVN towards PO-KO. The theoretical framework of the research was the agenda-setting theory, the concept of mediatization of politics and the evolution of the roles of political and media actors. The work also presents empirical research on the agendas of the above-mentioned entities on Twitter. The hypotheses were verified on the basis of quantitative and qualitative analysis.

The aim of this article is to scrutinise the way in which the concepts of land and land redistribution were discussed in the private media in Zimbabwe during the Zimbabwe land reform exercise – dubbed the “third Chimurenga” – that took place in the period 2000–2008. This study makes use of the framing theory. The framing theory is an adaptation of the agenda-setting theory and it talks about the way in which the media diverts the attention of audiences from the importance of an issue to what it wants to project; it places the issue in a field of meaning. This article firstly argues that although the ZANU-PF-led government stated that land was going to be redistributed to the landless black majority, the private media in general and the Daily News in particular reported that it was the black minority (the elite class) who obtained most of the land at the expense of the poor and middle-class black majority. Secondly, it argues that the land redistribution exercise was not meant to correct colonial land imbalances but was instead used by the ZANU-PF-led government as a means to avenge the referendum which they had lost in February 2000. The referendum was perceived as intending to change the Constitution in favour of the ZANU-PF. Lastly, this article argues that land, according to the Daily News, was supposed to be given to people (regardless of their race) who were making or going to make the land productive and not the poor, landless black majority. In order to authenticate the above claims and arguments, a number of the Daily News stories – purposively sampled during the period – will be used as examples.

This paper examines the setting construction in the ethnographic fiction of Orang-Orang Oetimu by Felix K. Nesi. Analytical descriptive methods, oral tradition, narratology, and setting theory were used to answer questions about: colonial and decolonial settings, socio-educational, ethnographic, and military violence setting. The results depict that the colonial and decolonial grounds left scars on the nation, which experienced previous neglect and alienation in their land. This long-experienced trauma affects massive social, education, and military violence behaviors. In addition, colonial and decolonial history also intersects with ethnographic, mainly traditional beliefs about local history and myths about “sifon,” which is a tradition of having sex after circumcision. Unpredictable and irreversible patterns of colonial, decolonial, and ethnographic settings are also shockingly strengthening the plot, proofing that the well-constructed set produces quality and innovative story, narrative, and narrating.

While extraordinary events like pandemics may prompt an increase in information-seeking behaviour, such trends are unlikely to be sustainable. Over time, issue fatigue/overdose is expected to set in. This study employed generalised additive mixed models (GAMMs) to determine whether attention to TV news corresponded with real-world developments. We sought to predict news use in Germany during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic based on disease occurrence next to two well-established predictors of news use (total TV use and day of the week). The association of key events with news use was also assessed. Initially, news use increased with disease occurrence. However, as the pandemic progressed, the linkage between the two variables weakened considerably, suggesting the onset of a habituation effect. Some support emerged for the idea that key events increased news use. Overall, our results are more in line with the explanation provided by agenda-setting theory and various information-seeking models than with the notion of coping through information avoidance. Thus, how the pandemic progresses appears to be a good predictor of news use at the aggregate level, although its predictive power decreases over time.

Abstract Background: COVID-19 Vaccine hesitancy is increasing globally, and this threatens the world ability to bring the pandemic under control. The way the media reports on the vaccine may influence or affect how the population perceive the safety and efficacy of the vaccine. Methods: The aim of this study was to determine how newspapers in Nigeria report stories about the vaccine and the side effects of the vaccine amidst the growing fear on the safety of the vaccine. A total of 4 national daily newspapers were randomly selected for the study. These are Leadership, Guardian, Nation and Punch newspapers. The study was anchored on agenda setting theory. Quantitative content analysis research was used for the study. The duration of the study was the day the vaccine was introduced in Nigeria: March 1st,2021 to July 31st, 2021. An Excel sheet served as the instrument for data collection and analysis done using SPSS version 25 with the level of significance predetermined at a p-value less than 0.05. Results: Key findings from this research were: Government officials and technical experts were predominantly used by the newspapers as the source of their information. There was a mixed reporting of vaccine side effects with a significant difference between those newspaper publications that reported vaccine side effects and those that did not. Amongst those that reported side effects, there was also a significant difference between those that communicated how and where to report the side effects as against those that did not. Conclusion: As part of the effort to curtail vaccine hesitancy, a continuous improvement in communicating the vaccine efficacy and safety is needed. The issue of child violence has continued to plague Nigerian society and if care is not taken, the future of Nigerian society will be in serious jeopardy. To this end, this study investigated radio programmes and the fight against child violence in Imo State. The agenda setting theory served as the theoretical foundation of the study. The survey research method was used with a population of 555,500 of Owerri metropolis residents. The Survey Monkey online sample size calculator was used to arrive at 384 as the sample size. The Multistage sampling technique was adopted with a questionnaire as the instrument of data collection. The percentage method was used for data analysis. Findings revealed that 52% of the respondents confirmed that they were exposed to radio programmes on the issue of child violence at a moderate level. Also, at an average of 53% of respondents are of the view that the programmes have enhanced their knowledge of the issues of child violence at a moderate level. Further findings showed that an average of 53% of respondents confirmed that Because I am Happy on Groove 98.1 FM and the Mega Kid hour on Megaband 97.3 FM are effective in the fight against child violence in Imo State. It was recommended that radio stations should step up their efforts to raise awareness of programmes dealing with child violence and other child-related issues, so that the level of exposure increases significantly and contributes to the fight against child violence. To improve the knowledge of people about child violence and other child-related issues. Radio stations should do well by constantly educating and enlightening people through their programmes designed to treat issues of child violence and other child-related issues. Radio stations, through their programmes, should endeavour to sustain their efforts to continue being effective in the fight against child violence, so that in no distant time, the issue of child violence and other child-related issues will be reduced drastically in society.
