In order to describe the development and status of couples of any region, the historic, psychological and socio-cultural ecosystem in which they unfold must be specified. For this paper, the roots of Mesoamerican-Hispanic couples are described with emphasis on the norms and values that underlie the beliefs and behavioral patterns of contemporary males and females of this vast region. In a second section, the effects of modernization and female and child empowerment on traditional roles and couple relationships is covered. A third section is devoted to the analysis of the impact on family function and structure due to migration and acculturation of Mexicans and Central Americans who move north. As a corollary, an extensive description of research on the variables conducive to relationship maintenance with Mexican males and females is presented.

Objective The study aim was to analyse the effect of participatory continuous nursing using the WeChat platform on the complications, family function and compliance of patients with spinal cord injuries. Methods This was a randomized controlled trial. Seventy-eight patients with stable disease treated by internal fixation were enrolled in the study from August 2017 to August 2019 and assigned equally to an observation group and a control group. The control group received regular care from the time of discharge. The observation group used the WeChat platform to participate in continuous care. Results Six months after discharge, the continuous nursing group had a significantly lower incidence of pressure ulcers, urinary tract infections, joint contractures and muscle atrophy than the control group. The continuous nursing group showed a significant improvement in family function level and compliance behaviour at 3 and 6 months after discharge. Conclusion A participation-based continuous nursing intervention using the WeChat platform can reduce the incidence of pressure ulcers, urinary tract infections, joint contracture and muscle atrophy; improve patient family function; and promote healthy compliance behaviour.

The present study was an attempt to identify the most prevailing means of digital devices and its impact as digital pollution on family and social interactions. Despite the obvious benefits of digital devices, in recent years researchers have taken more concern about its potential negative effect on human attitude and behavior, which in turn affects our society. A total of 613 usable responses were collected from Bangalore, India of excessive users of digital devices, such as a smartphone, computer/laptop, and television. All statistical analyses were performed using SPSS 23.0, AMOS 23.0, and SmartPLS 3.0. The results indicated that as the use of smartphone and computer/laptop increases, levels of digital pollution also increase, which in turn significantly triggers unfavorable impact on family and social interactions. The study indicated that digital pollution appears as an important predictor, which significantly affects social interaction unfavorably. The present study explored the various critical dimensions within this domain and delineated gaps in our knowledge of digital pollution. It was found that smartphones are more responsible for digital pollution among all the identified digital devices, followed by computer/laptop.
