The problem of determining the repair sections of the main oil pipeline is solved, basing on the classification of images using distance functions and the clustering principle, The criteria characterizing the cluster are determined by certain given values, based on a comparison with which the defect is assigned to a given cluster, procedures for the redistribution of defects in cluster zones are provided, and the cluster zones parameters are being changed. Calculations are demonstrating the range of defect density variation depending on pipeline sections and the universal capabilities of linear objects configuration with arbitrary density, provided by cluster analysis.

ABSTRACTOften, the classification of words does not go beyond “difficult” (i.e., infrequent, late-learned, nonimageable, etc.) or “easy” (i.e., frequent, early-learned, imageable, etc.) words. In the present study, we used a latent cluster analysis to divide 703 Dutch words with scores for eight word properties into seven clusters of words. Each cluster represents a group of words that share a particular configuration of word properties. This model was empirically validated with three data sets from Grades 2 to 4 children who made either a lexical decision task or a use decision task with a selection of the words. Significant differences were found between the clusters of words within the three data sets. Implications for further study and for practice are discussed.

In the article the classification of inpipe robots is presented, their advantages and imperfections are reviewed. The schemes of the construction of the wall press walking inpipe robot with a pneumatic drive and an inpipe robot with a vibratory pneumatic drive are given. The analysis of the identification method of leaks occurring due to damages of the linear part of the main oil pipelines is carried out. The momentum and continuity equations of viscous compressible fluid in a pressure pipeline are presented. Differential equations of fluid movement in the oil pipeline are solved by the method of characteristics. Variation diagrams of pressure and velocity of fluid in a leaking oil pipeline are presented. The impulsive extinguishing systems are presented.

The relevance of the study is substantiated by the fact that when managing the processes of oil transportation through main pipelines, it becomes necessary to determine and select the optimal operating modes of the oil pipeline units, taking into account the fuzziness of some part of the initial information. In this regard, solving the problem of multi-criteria selection of effective operating modes for an oil heating station for a hot oil pipeline system, which is often described in a fuzzy environment, based on the apparatus of fuzzy set theories, is an urgent scientific and practical problem. A method for the synthesis of models in the conditions of fuzzy output parameters of the object has been developed, with the help of which fuzzy models of the investigated oil heating station of the main oil pipeline have been built. Based on the modification and combination of various optimality principles, mathematical formulations of the problem of multi-criteria selection of effective operating modes for an oil heating station in a fuzzy environment are obtained. By modifying and adapting the principles of guaranteed results and equality in a fuzzy environment, a heuristic method has been developed for solving the formulated problem of selecting object's operation modes using the initial fuzzy information. The proposed heuristic method for multi-criteria selection in a fuzzy environment is based on the use of the experience and knowledge of the decision-maker. The proposed approach is implemented in the formulation and solution of the problem of multi-criteria selection of operating modes of the oil heating station in Atyrau of the Uzen-Atyrau-Samara main oil pipeline. As a result of the application of the proposed method, an improvement in the degree of fulfillment of a fuzzy restriction on environmental impact was achieved by 2 %, as well as the optimal values of the operating parameters of the object were improved: the temperature was reduced by 1.85 % (5.67 K), pressure – by 0.04 % (kPa) and fuel consumption – by 2.9 % (0.0002 kg/s). The obtained results have confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed approach to solving the assigned tasks.

Abstract Sacrificial anode cathodic protection is one of the most widely used methods in protecting buried oil pipe lines against the corrosion damages. In the present work, a series of Aluminum alloys have been prepared as sacrificial anodes candidates to be used in the protection of the oil pipelines that pass through the Al-Mahawil region. These prepared alloys were microstructurally and electrochemically characterized to evaluate their performance as Al-sacrificial anodes for cathodic protection of oil pipes The relationships between the protection potential with time, sacrificial anode life, discharge currents, and capacity of sacrificial anodes were found, taking into consideration the distance between sacrificial anode and protected steel sample. According to the results obtained, the best selection of sacrificial anodes was Al-4% Zn-0.4% Sn) alloy at 30cm in Al-Mahawil region.

The use of anti-turbulent and depressant additives makes it possible to increase the efficiency of oil pipelines transporting high-viscosity oil. In this method, the principle of increasing the efficiency of transportation is based on reducing the hydraulic resistance and increasing the fluidity of oil. The work carried out a theoretical study of the existing types of anti-turbulent and depressant additives. This article presents an experimental study of the effect of the MR 1088 depressant additive on an oil sample from the Usa – Ukhta main oil pipeline.

About 4 % of the connecting pieces used in the construction of oil pipelines in the 1950s–1970s were manufactured in the field. Despite the fact that in recent years the number of such parts has significantly reduced, failures associated with their lack of reliability occupy a noticeable share in the total number of failures in the system of oil trunk pipelines. The purpose of this work is to analyze the typical causes of failure of connecting parts using the example of a tee bend with a reinforcing plate. The authors carried out structural and fractographic studies of the defective structure. On the basis of information about the operating conditions and the actual characteristics of the bend metal, as well as data on the centers of destruction and the nature of crack propagation, computer modeling of the stress-strain state of the part was carried out. Based on the results of metallurgical studies and computer modeling, it was established that the cause of the formation of a through crack in the weld at the junction of the main oil pipeline and the reserve branch was excess stresses in the area of welding of the reinforcing plate to the branch, exceeding the tensile strength of the material of the tee branch pipe.

AbstractA basic problem of cluster analysis is the determination or selection of the number of clusters evinced in any set of data. We address this issue with multinomial data using Akaike’s information criterion and demonstrate its utility in identifying an appropriate number of clusters of tumor types with similar profiles of cell surface antigens.
