ABSTRACT Objective: to determine the diagnosis of the situation regarding documentation of falls and risk of falls in people older than 75 years in basic health units in Spain and Portugal. Method: mixed exploratory study in two stages: (i) quantitative descriptive of randomly selected fall records produced in one year (597 records; 197 Spanish and 400 Portuguese); and (ii) qualitative, with the purpose of knowing the perception of health professionals employing semi-structured interviews (72 professionals, 16 Spanish and 56 Portuguese). The study areas were two basic health units in southern Spain and northern Portugal. Results: in the fall records, the number of women was higher. The presence of fall was associated with the variables age, presence of dementia, osteoarticular disease, previous falls and consumption of antivertiginous medication. Health professionals perceived an absence of risk assessment instruments, as well as lack of prevention programs and lack of awareness of this event. Conclusion: falls are perceived as an area of priority attention for health professionals. Nonetheless, there is a lack of adherence to the registration of falls and risk assessment, due to organizational, logistical and motivational problems.

The objective of the study was to analyze the prevalence of self-medication among users of Basic Health Units in the city of Monte Alegre – Rio Grande do Norte State, Brazil. A descriptive exploratory study was carried out, through the application of structured questionnaires, with 125 people. It was observed that 83% of the interviewees practiced self-medication, of these, 34%, they did it monthly. The main justifications for this practice were: difficulty accessing health services (50%), financial reasons (28%) and lack of time (22%). The most used drugs were: analgesic (63%), anti-inflammatory (13%) and sedative / hypnotic (7.0%). Most (55%) claimed to have no or little knowledge about the meaning of self-medication. This demonstrates the need for health education actions in order to educate the population about the risks of this practice, since it can lead to masking of symptoms of diseases, drug interactions and intoxications that compromise the health of the user. KNOWLEDGE OF PREGNANT WOMEN ON ORAL HEALTH. ABSTRACT In the gestational period, the woman should be encouraged to seek more knowledge about the health of the baby, as the hygiene habits acquired in childhood can remain throughout life. The objective of this study was to evaluate the knowledge of the pregnant women monitored at the Basic Health Units in the city of Quixadá-CE on the oral health of the baby. This research complies with the norms of CNS resolution 466/12 and was submitted and approved by the Unicatólica Ethics and Research Committee. The study was conducted in the period from August to September 2017, in three Basic Health Units belonging to the urban area of the municipality of Quixadá-CE. Data were collected through an elaborate structured questionnaire, composed of objective questions related to the transmissibility of dental caries, the basic care with oral health and Dentistry in the 1st Childhood that was filled by each pregnant woman. The sample included 43 pregnant women from the 1st to the 3rd trimester of gestation. Among the participants, 74.4% (n = 32) never received guidance on caring for the baby's oral hygiene. However, 52% (n = 26) were able to answer correctly about the time when the baby's oral hygiene care should begin (when the baby is born). Regarding the methods that can be used to perform this hygiene, 58.1% (n = 25) responded with gauze or diaper soaked with water, and as to the frequency to be performed, 58.1% (n = 25) ) reported that after feeding, as well as the ideal amount of toothpaste for toothbrushing, 46.5% (n = 2) answered that it should be the size of a dry rice grain. It was observed that although most of them had a reasonable knowledge about the importance of oral hygiene and the harmful effects of pacifiers, few of them received any kind of assistance and guidance on the baby's oral health during the prenatal period. It is important to include the dental professional in this period in order to pass on information and clarify any doubts that may arise regarding the oral health of the baby.

Epidemiological studies, both in general and specifically, are part of the health promotion process and prophylactic actions that can generate treatment plans for a population, however, the accomplishment of prophylactic work in relation to musculoskeletal (i.e., traumatological) problems must start from the specific and go to the general, from cities to a national plan, since each population has its own characteristics in the general picture of conditions. Hypothetically, the epidemiological profile in traumatology and orthopedics, due to the general behavior in the national territory, presents the lack of prevention; in this way, is necessary to verify. This work aims to determine the incidence of orthopedic and traumatological problems in the region of Palmas, state of Tocantins (TO), Brazil, in order to contribute to a possible prophylactic plan for the population of the region. The data of the present study agree with most other studies about the orthopedic profile in terms of gender, age and problems with vertebral column, in general. However, the finding that most of the conditions were associated with scoliosis was unexpected, as it differs from the findings of most studies. It was possible to establish a profile of patients seen at the clinic-school and indicate the management of training for health professionals related to the treatment of people over the age of 40 years. The importance of the action of physiotherapists in the processes of prevention and primary care was evident given the patients indicated in this and other articles who need help with traumatic diseases.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the quality of prenatal care offered in 12 Basic Health Units (BHU) in the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil, through a review of medical and nurse charts, before and after the municipalization of the public health system. The indicator used considered excellence in care as: starting prenatal care in the first quarter of pregnancy; at least six medical visits; at least two results of blood screening for syphilis and one for HIV; returning to BHU up to 42 days after delivery. This indicator was not present in any care delivered in 2000, and only 7.7% of the care delivered in 2004 obtained it (1.1% to 30% of the care per unit assessed). Although there was an evident improvement in care during the period, the low proportion of excellent prenatal care shows an urgent need to improve this care in the BHU of São Paulo city.

The World Health Organization (WHO) defines the adverse reaction to the medication as a harmful or unwanted reaction that appears after the administration of a medicines used to prevent or treat a disease or symptoms. The irrational use of medications is a serious problem and is related when the patient purchases medicines with no indication or professional guidance on their use. This leads to exposure to problems related to medications, as well as adverse reactions, directing the population to Primary Care units. In this context, there is a need for the insertion of the pharmacist providing clinical services in these units. The work aimed to carry out a systematic review of the literature of studies on Pharmaceutical Care in Basic Health Units and the impacts on the irrational use of medicines, as well as the role of the pharmacist in this process. Initially, 53 articles were selected from the SciELO, LILACS and BVS databases, where only 2 articles met the inclusion criteria of the review. It was evident that the monitoring of a professional providing Pharmaceutical Care and guiding patients to the best use of their medicines received in Primary Care is beneficial to the health of the population. Just as this professional would increase the number of assisted inhabitants, in addition to reducing the practice of self-medication. In addition, the authors of both articles also show that the importance of the pharmacist in Primary Care, acting in addition to Pharmaceutical Assistance, also in Pharmaceutical Care, presents better management of resources used in the municipality's pharmacy.

Abstract 321 questionnaires were applied to drug users in the six basic health units in the city of Ceres - GO.
