This study explored the barriers and facilitators to event greening within the corporate sphere, attempting to reveal factors which expedite and impede event greening. A case-study approach was utilised by interviewing six members of staff of a UK corporate event organisation. Although many barriers were present, potential facilitators were also uncovered. A lack of management support and formal policies as well as knowledge and resources acted as barriers to corporate event greening within the case-study organisation. Financial resources were also a facilitator, together with clients and temporal changes, therefore more barriers than facilitators were discovered. Many barriers were interconnected, appearing to stem from a short-term cost-benefit perspective. Recommendations for practice and for research are suggested.

Retrospective, or ex post, analysis of U.S. federal regulation aims to rigorously document regulatory outcomes using cost, benefit, and distributional metrics. This paper presents nine new case studies involving a total of 34 comparisons of ex ante and ex post estimates from a diverse group of environmentally oriented rules. Despite the potential for selection bias and other limitations of the case study approach, the results suggest a slight tendency to overestimate both costs and benefits (or effectiveness) of regulation. This paper considers various analytic issues relevant to developing credible baselines for comparison, and offers policy lessons regarding the design of emissions trading programs along with approaches for incorporating uncertainty into both preregulatory studies and policy designs. Recommendations to facilitate and support future retrospective analyses are also presented.

ABSTRACTHealth is one of the concurrent affairs that must be fulfilled by the government. Based on the Peraturan Menteri Kesehatan No. 43 of 2016, minimum service standards (SPM) are provisions regarding the type and quality of basic services which are mandatory government affairs that are entitled to be obtained by every citizen minimally. SPM has 12 indicators where all these indicators should ideally reach the target of 100% as a minimum, but not all indicators can achieve 100% results. This can be caused by non-financial resource factors that have not been fulfilled. The aim of this study is to compare the factors of non-financial resources at the Puskesmas Salaman 1 and Puskesmas Gamping 1 in the implementation of the SPM in the health sector. The study was conducted with qualitative methods with a case study approach. The result show that the factors of non-financial resources in the Puskesmas Gamping 1 and Puskesmas Salaman 1 have been adequately fulfilled, but there are some obstacles experienced, namely excessive workload so that one person holds several programs, the quality of human resources is different, not all drug stocks and reagents provided so that it must procure itself, and so forth. This obstacle indirectly affected the achievement of minimum health service standart in Gamping 1 Puskesmas and Salaman 1 Puskesmas so that they could not reach the target.

An ethnographic case study approach to understanding women’s actions and reactions to husbands’ emigration—or potential emigration—offers a distinct set of challenges to a U.S.-based researcher.  International migration research in a foreign context likely offers challenges in language, culture, lifestyle, as well as potential gender norm impediments. A mixed methods approach contributed to successfully overcoming barriers through an array of research methods, strategies, and tactics, as well as practicing flexibility in data gathering methods. Even this researcher’s influence on the research was minimized and alleviated, to a degree, through ascertaining common ground with many of the women. Research with the women of San Juan Guelavía, Oaxaca, Mexico offered numerous and constant challenges, each overcome with ensuing rewards.
