After the spread of CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19), most of the organizations over the world have been shifted to work online to reduce the infection risk which increased the importance of upgrading the IT (or ICT) infrastructure and its services as the basic level for supporting the online activities and ensuring the quality of these activities. This paper will present an experienced case study focusing on the IT infrastructure requirements in the Saudi universities as a relevant educational sector which affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and shifted to continue the learning and teaching processes online. The success of these processes strongly depends on the IT infrastructure which supports all their activities. For this purpose, an exploratory and analytical study is applied to Dar Al Uloom University as an example for the private universities in Saudi Arabia. The case study focused on the comparison between the before and after situations with collecting some feedback from the stakeholders according to the satisfaction about the IT services after the shifting process. The results have been presented as extracted strengths and recommendations for improving the IT infrastructure and its services by the universities to meet the requirements in the new situation with COVID 19.

Lifestyle disorders are one of the biggest threats for the population living unhealthy lifestyle. Sthoulya (Obesity) is one such disorder which creates lot of physical as well as mental disorder to the sufferer. Due to changing lifestyle, comforts and dietary habit lots of individuals changed their life totally. Obesity is a growing disease in developed and developing countries. Prevalence is drastically hike in past few years. Ayurveda, the science of life with which we can manage and control lots of lifestyle disorders. Focusing on dietary and lifestyle management along with treatment, we can overcome the hazards of obesity which is growing in a uncontrolled manner. The available data is based on the clinical findings only. Aim and objective: To assess the effect of “Guru Cha Atarpanam Chikitsa” in the management of Sthoulya. Setting: Swastharakshana evam Yoga, OPD and IPD, SDMCAH, Hassan. Method: Udwarthana, Parisheka, Shamana Aushadhis, Ahara, and Vihara was followed within the treatment duration and effect of treatment was assessed before and after treatment, advised for follow up. Results: The treatment adopted is effective in the management of Sthoulya and to improve the quality of life.

This case study documents the challenges faced by Iota Consultancy Services, an IT Service organization, as it simultaneously developed and deployed an IT Services Management software product for one of its premier clients, The Clementon Company. A leading market research firm, The Clementon Company had its footprints across the globe. Its recent acquisition of several smaller research agencies had created a complex IT landscape, in terms of the technologies adopted and the processes followed. In Iota Consultancy Services’ 10-year-old history, this engagement with The Clementon Company was a significant milestone, consisting of two parts—(1) Streamlining and standardizing The Clementon Company’s IT processes and (2) maintaining The Clementon Company’s organization-wide IT infrastructure. Iota Consultancy Services began this crucial assignment with an initial study to identify a product for the The Clementon Company’s IT department. Iota Consultancy Services, a rapidly growing player in the sector, had indigenously developed a few IT products, as well. It had an IT Services Management product called Helpdesk Management. Being the sole service provider for maintaining The Clementon Company’s entire IT infrastructure, Iota Consultancy Services felt that Helpdesk Management could be deployed as a single tool across the organization. However, until now, Helpdesk Management had never been deployed as a comprehensive IT Services Management product for any organization. This meant that Iota Consultancy Services needed to simultaneously enhance its Helpdesk Management tool by developing new features, and also deploy it for The Clementon Company. This was Iota Consultancy Services’ chance to earn a reputation as a successful product company, which would result in increased revenue. However, if things did not go well, Iota Consultancy Services could lose face forever. Iota Consultancy Services’ dilemma was whether it should propose Helpdesk Management as a tool for The Clementon Company, or not. At this juncture, everything depended on whether Iota Consultancy Services could successfully customize the Helpdesk Management tool to suit The Clementon Company’s requirements.

Abstract The main objective of the current study was to assess the impact of the water taken from the ‘Tunisian Refining Industries Company’ on meiobenthic nematodes, before and after a series of treatments in decantation basins followed by its discharge in Bizerte bay, Tunisia. The comparison of environmental parameters of the two types of water was clearly indicative of an improvement in the quality of treated waters after a significant reduction in their loads in hydrocarbons. Overall, the water retained a good quality after being treated by ‘Tunisian Refining Industries Company’ before discharge in the sea. At the end of the experiment, differential responses were observed according to the richness of sediment in organic matter and hydrocarbons. Thus, it was apparent that the nematode assemblage exposed to the treated waters was closer to controls and associated to higher values of abundance, than that under untreated ones. It was also assumed that the species Microlaimus honestus De Man, 1922, Paramonohystera proteus Wieser, 1956 and Cyartonema germanicum Juario, 1972 are sensitive bioindicators of bad environmental statues and of hydrocarbon presence in the environment. On the other hand, Metoncholaimus pristiurus (Zur Strassen, 1894) Filipjev, 1918 would rather be classified as a positive bioindicative species of this type of pollutants.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is an emerging technology that offers great opportunities that is designed to improve the quality of consumers' lives, and also to improve economic indicators and productivity of enterprises, and more efficient use of resources. IoT system refers to the use of interconnected devices and distributed subsystems to leverage data gathered by sensors and actuators in some sort of environment and to take a proper decision on a high level. In this chapter, the authors propose an approach to Microcloud-based IoT infrastructure management to provide the desired quality of IT services with rational use of IT resources. Efficiency of IT infrastructure management can be estimated by the quality of services and the management costs. The task of operational service quality management is to maintain a given level of service quality with the use of minimum IT resources amount in IoT environment. Then, the maximum efficiency can be achieved by selecting such control when actual level of service corresponds to the coordinated with business unit and can be achieved by minimal costs. The proposed approach allows the efficient use of resources for IT services provision in IoT ecosystem through the implementation of service level coordination, resource planning and service level management processes in an integrated IT infrastructure management system based on hyperconvergence and software-defined principles. The main goals of this chapter are to investigate the state of art of the IoT applications resource demands in the context of datacenter architecture deployment and to propose Microcloud-based IoT infrastructure resource control method.

IT outsourcing companies have adopted global delivery model, where IT services, such as backup management, are supplied out of multiple locations worldwide, based on the skill and cost of IT delivery staff, such as system administrators (SAs) and call center agents. Managing IT services quality requires insights obtained by extracting large volumes of tacit knowledge about processes, products and people, which is in collective possession of experts. Current practices to discovering this distributed and unstructured knowledge are semi-automated. Often they involve manual data collection using spreadsheets and tracking of exerts through e-mail. As such they fail to scale and provide accurate insights on demand, such as IT infrastructure snapshots. We present an enterprise crowdsourcing service that enables harnessing of human knowledge to derive quality insights in IT services. Our approach automates knowledge and knowledge owner discovery, and is based on the concept of distributed questionnaires. Experts can breakdown the knowledge requests into multiple parts and engage their networks to co-create the content. We discuss the effectiveness of our approach for knowledge discovery in the context of large-scale, on-going business activities in IT outsourcing organization, which collectively engaged over 2500 experts globally.

Nowadays, more and more organizations are realizing of importance of their data, because it can be considered as an important asset in present nearly all business organizational processes. Information Technology Division (ITD) is a department in the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) that consolidates efforts in providing IT services to the university. The university data management started with decentralized units, where each center or division has its own hardware and database system. Later it improved to become became centralized, and ITD is now trying to one policy across the whole university. This will optimize the high performance of data management in the university. A visit has been done to ITD building and a presentation has been conducted discussing many issues concerning data management quality maturity in IT division at IIUM. We got some notices like server’s room location, power supply and backup and existence of data redundant. These issues are discussed in details in the next sections of this paper and some recommendations are suggested to improve data quality in the university. The quality of the data is very important in decision making, especially for a university that is trying to improve its strategy towards a research university and rise its rank among the World University Ranking.

Safety, cost, ride quality, and performance are characteristics of pavement systems that are considered high-priority customer demands by transportation agencies throughout the world. Ride quality is the characteristic most notable to the traveling public. Throughout the United States, numerous state and federal agencies have developed specifications that require that road contractors meet a minimum level of ride quality before a pavement is approved for payment. Studies have shown that initial (as constructed) ride quality is an important factor in determining overall serviceability and length of time to rehabilitation or reconstruction. A case study in Cowley County, Kansas, in which the ride quality of an existing jointed, plain concrete pavement was significantly improved by the placement of a thin, polymer-modified, asphaltemulsion microsurfacing system, is described. The existing pavement conditions, the construction techniques used by the contractor, and the smoothness measurements before and after construction are noted and discussed. It was found that a marked reduction in roughness can be accomplished with unique construction techniques and microsurfacing.

The current study aimed at identifying the effect of acquisition on income statement items in acquired company (subsidiary company), a case study of Irbid Electricity (IDECO). In order to achieve this objective, the researcher has carried out an analytical study that applied the descriptive analytical approach, using the necessary scientific knowledge on the different aspects of the study by reference to the previous studies and the scientific references, the use of the statistical approach to analyze the study data represented by the actual data taken from Irbid Electricity (IDECO) for the period (2002-2016). The results of the study showed statistically significant differences in energy sales average, energy purchase cost, other operating revenues, other revenues, operating expenses, and earning per share before and after acquisition, and also, the results have shown no significant differences between the average of other expenses before and after acquisition. The most important recommendations of the study were the necessity of taking advantage of the experiences of acquisitions and thinking of it seriously, working to raise awareness of the importance of acquisition and clarify its positive effects, and to benefit from global experiences in the acquisition and its positive impact.

Employees’ health is being affected not only by the possibility of contracting COVID-19, but by all the negative consequences that this pandemic has brought, such as confinement, social distancing, and self-isolation. In recent decades, more companies have opted for corporate well-being programmes in their workplaces, improving the health and quality of life of their employees. The effects generated by the current COVID-19 pandemic require these programmes to adapt to this new situation. The objective of this case study is to analyse the corporate well-being programme, in times of COVID-19, of Mahou San Miguel, a benchmark company in corporate well-being in Spain. A mixed method approach to data collection was used. The findings show the benefits achieved in its adaptation to this new physical-virtual environment. This paper could help other companies around the world to adapt their corporate well-being programmes to the new reality brought about by COVID-19.
