The popularity of marine tourism put intense pressure on the island's environment. Limited studies were conducted to determine the negative impacts caused by chalets operation. Study aim is to investigate the adverse effects caused by the chalet’s operation on the Tioman and Perhentian Island. The objectives are to identify operation activities and the negative impact caused by the operation. The study was conducted by adopting qualitative method. The findings indicate solid waste disposal, groundwater extraction, and sewage disposal are destroying the marine environment in many ways. Tourism is a sector that always has a dynamic movement which will benefit the local community. Lumban Suhi-suhi is a tourist village famous for its ulos on Samosir Island that has become one of the tourist attraction. Due to the limitations of facilities arrangement make it becomes less of the attraction itself. Therefore, the environment-based mechanism becomes one of the concepts that will be applied to improve the tourist facilities in which could increase tourists in that area. Recently there has been a tremendous effort in greening the tourism industry due to its negative environmental impacts. The efforts of greening the green lodging industry in Malaysia is growing slowly due to the several barriers. The objective of this study is to determine the barriers that slowing the green hotels and resorts operation in Malaysia. This study employed qualitative method using interview technique. Five case studies were chosen and the environmental managers are interviewed. The findings identified 12 barriers. Each state in Malaysia interprets asnaf al gharimin differently due to the different ijtihad from the mufti. This study aims to analyze the application of asnaf al gharimin based on Lembaga Zakat Selangor (LZS). Qualitative method based on interview is used in this article and supported by library research. The finding shows that LZS has focused on four categories of debt to be given zakat aid in the types of asnaf gharimin, including medical/ dialysis treatment assistance, life necessities assistance, management of the corpse without the heir, and debt association due to public concern. This paper compares Shariah audit and Shariah review in Islamic banks in Malaysia based on reporting structure, independence, the scope of duties, technology used, guideline and methodology, coverage period, and officers’ qualification. The study employs a qualitative method by utilizing semi-structured interviews with nine (9) key industry players. Data gathered from a series of interviews have been transcripted and analyzed using Atlas.ti. This study uncovers that Shariah review and Shariah audit have apparent differences and play their roles as a second and third line of defense, respectively, that eventually could provide a stimulus to Shariah governance and strengthen market confidence.  Keywords: Shariah audit, Shariah review, Islamic banks, qualitative method. eISSN: 2398-4287© 2020. Low social ties among society occurred due to the lack of social interaction and civic engagement. The purpose of this paper is to explore the manifestation of Islamic social principles in Kitab Al-Jidar. This qualitative method accomplished the content analysis process. This study found that five (5) social principles in Kitab Al-Jidar has potential to maintain healthy social relations. It is hoped that this paper would infuse awareness among modern society to play their role as a community member in creating a friendly and pleasant environment based on Islamic social principles. This paper attempts to provide and insight into the modernization of Malay food ingredients within Malay communities. Its approach is sociological, using qualitative method of interview and observation, inquiring into the usage of modern food ingredients in the preparation of Malay dishes. Focusing on a small group of consumers in Puncak Alam, Selangor, the findings indicate that the motivation behind choosing modern food ingredients is to save cooking preparation time while improving nutrient intakes.© 2016. Fishermen’s settlements in Belawan Medan tend to form unplanned. Social interaction in this village becomes the basis for the establishment of an unplanned settlement. Qualitative method is used in this research. The society’s social condition in this village offers a challenge in analyzing social influence towards the establishment of the fishing village in Medan City. The purpose of this research is to find the form of the unplanned settlement that occurred. The results of this research will create a theoretical concept related to the forms of a coastal village. Small and Medium Tourism Enterprises (SMTEs) contribute up to 70% of world pollution by consuming water, energy and producing solid waste. A similar scenario could be observed in the case of the Malaysian islands. Therefore, it is significant to understand SMITEs green operation performance level. Thus, this research aims to investigate into SMTEs green operation performance levels in the area of energy, freshwater, and solid waste. This research uses quantitative and qualitative methods for data collection. The findings indicate that the SMITEs have low performance in the area of freshwater and have moderate performance in energy and solid waste. Marine tourism is one of the main factors contributing to the growth of the tourism sector in Malaysia.  Malaysia is among the countries that have assets of most beautiful islands with diverse marine life. It is attracting visitors to enjoy the beauty of the sea nature. The vibrant activity was an opportunity for local community to engage in the tourism sector. Thus, this study was conducted to determine the perceptions of local community towards the impact of tourism activities in Pulau Pangkor. The impacts of coastal reclamation to the coastal community have usually been overlooked. This paper presents the impacts of coastal reclamation to the quality of life of Tanjung Tokong’s community. The questionnaire survey data was analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS), and the interview was content analyzed. The results show only three variable, influenced quality of life the most. Flash flood and traffic congestion negatively correlated with quality of life while health positively correlated with quality of life. It recommended that the coastal reclamation process should consider any temporary and permanent negative impact to the community.Keywords: Coastal Areas; Coastal reclamation;Quality of life;Social Impacts.eISSN 2398-4279 © 2018.
