This research was aimed to know the effects of the furrow system containing organic matter for rainfed, to growth and yield of several varieties on agroforestry system with Kayu Putih. The research was conducted in Petak 83 Resort Pengelolaan Hutan (RPH) Menggoran, Bagian Daerah Hutan (BDH) Playen, Kesatuan Pengelolaan Hutan (KPH) Yogyakarta from March to August of 2018. The experimental design applied the strip plot design. The vertical factor was the furrow system of treatment consisting of 2 levels i.e, without furrow + without organic matter and furrow + organic matters. The horizontal factors were the varieties of upland rice consisting of 3 varieties i.e. Situ Patenggang, Situ Bagendit, and Ciherang. Then the collected data were analyzed by analysis of variance (Anova) applying a level of significance α = 5%. Whenever the significant differences among treatments were found, further analysis was carried out by applying the Tukey's HSD (Honestly Significant Difference) at 5% levels. The result showed that furrow containing organic matter was able to support plant growth in dry land. Situ Patenggang has highest adaptation to growth dan produce in drought stress. The combination of furrow containing organic matter with Situ Patenggang showed the best result in CGR, total root length, total chlorophyll content, number of panicle, number of spikelet per panicle, 1000 grain weight and estimated productivity.

<p>Drought is one of the major limitations in dry land cultivation. Drought affects plant physiology processes such as photosynthesis, respiration, mineral and water transportation, and transpiraton, briefly called drought stress. Drought stress can be avoided by managing environment. Furrow containing organic matter for rain fed rice has been the subject of many studies, with special emphasis on soil moisture. This research is aimed to know the effects of the furrow containing organic matter on physiological responses of several upland rice varieties on agroforestry system based on <em>k</em><em>ayu putih</em> (cajuput). The experimental design applied the strip plot design. The vertical factor is the furrow system of treatment consisting of 2 levels i.e. without furrow + without organic matter and furrow + organic matters. The horizontal factors are the upland rice varieties consisting of 3 varieties i.e. Situ Patenggang, Situ Bagendit and Ciherang. The collected data were analyzed by Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) applying a level of significance α = 5%. The result shows that drought affects plant physiology and can be avoided by using furrow containing organic matters. Situ Patenggang with furrow containing organic matters has the higher physiology capability, it had photosynthesis 387.18 µmol CO<sub>2 </sub>per clump s<sup>-1</sup>, transpiration 3038.50 mg per clump per secondand CO<sub>2 </sub>721.11 mol CO<sub>2</sub> clump per mol. There different plant requirements for Cu between varieties.</p>

The study aimed to determine the response of upland rice under different shade levels. The experiment was conducted in Srigading village, Sanden District, Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta from July 2016 to March 2017. The experimental design applied was the split-plot design with three replications. The main plot was the shade level consists of three levels i.e. 0%, 25% and 50%. The sub plot was the upland rice cultivar consists of three levels i.e.  ‘Inpago 8’, ‘Situ Patenggang’, and ‘Batutegi’. The results showed that some variables observed changes due to shade that are make increased the plant height and leaf area. The maximum number of tillers and the number of productive tillers in the 50% shade treatment decreased, as well as the total plant dry weight and the productivity. Other observation such as root/shoot ratio, panicle length, percentage of filled grain per panicle, number of filled grains per panicle and 1000-grains weight upland rice showed no significant difference.

Food security is the government's top priority in eradicating hunger. The government continues to make an innovation, so that food needs in Indonesia are fulfilled. One of them is increasing the rice harvest index to 5 times through the ratoon system. Currently, ratoon productivity is only 40-50% lower than its parent plant. Utilization of technology in the ratoon system is expected to increase plant productivity. This study aims to increase the productivity of the ratun by increasing the number of tillers which increase the growth of the ratoon. The experiment was arranged in completely randomized design (CRD). The factor tested were nitrogen dose (50 kg ZA / ha, 100 kg ZA / ha, 150 kg ZA / ha, 200 kg ZA / ha, and 250 kg ZA / ha) repeated 4 times. The parent rice plant which used in the ratoon system was Inpari-32 variety. Collecting data were consisted number of tillers, length of panicles, number of grains per panicle, number of pithy grains, number of empty grains, and leaf chlorophyll content. The result showed that nitrogen application 100, 150, 200, and 250 kg ZA.ha-1 has a significant effect on number of tillers compared to 50 kg ZA.ha-1, but it was not significant for the other observed variables. The optimum nitrogen dose to achieve the maximum number of tillers was 216.75 ZA.ha-1. Increasing the level of nitrogen disposed to increase plant growth and yield component of ratoon rice, although it was not significant difference.

Suminarti et al, 2018. Effect of Source and Dosage of Organic Materials on Changes in Soil Chemical Properties, Growth and Yield of Sorghum Plants (Sorghum bicolor L.Moench) var. KD4 in Dry Land Jatikerto, Malang. JLSO 7(2): Agricultural extensification is the right step to anticipate conditions of food insecurity. This refers to two reasons, namely (1) proliferation of land conversion activities, and (2) sorghum is a carbohydrate-producing plant that is quite tolerant when planted on dry land. The objective of this study was to obtain information about the sources and doses of organic matter that are appropriate to changes in soil chemical properties, growth and yield of sorghum plants, and has been carried out in the dry land of Jatikerto, Malang. A split plot designs with three replications were used in this study, sources of organic material (blothong, UB compost and cow dung) as the main plot, and doses of organic matter (125%, 100% and 75%) as a subplot. Soil analysis was carried out 3 times, i.e. before planting, after application of organic matter and at harvest. The agronomic observations were carried out destructively at 80 days after planting (DAP) including the components of growth (root dry weight, leaf area, and total dry weight of the plant) and harvest at the age of 90 DAP.F test at 5% level was used to test the effect of treatment, while the difference between treatments was based on LSD level of 5%.The results showed that there was a significant interaction between the source and dosage of organic matter on the leaf area and total dry weight, the highest yield was obtained in blothong at various doses. Higher yields of seeds per hectare were also found in blotong: 1.76 tons ha-1, and 1.73 tons ha-1 on 125% doses of organic matter. Blotong application is able to provide elements of N, P and K soil respectively 18.3%, 85.68% and 8.42% for plant.

This study aims to test the bio-fertilizer formulation with Bacillus cereus bioactivator and to obtain the best bio-fertilizer formulation for the growth and yield of upland rice (Oryza sativa L.) in peat medium. The research was conducted in the experimental garden and Soil Science Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau from July to October 2018. The study was carried out experimentally using a completely randomized design (RAL) with the treatment tested was the formulation of Bacillus cereus (F): F0: 100 ml Bacillus cereus without formulation, F1: 100 ml Bacillus cereus inoculant+74% bagasse+13% dolomite+13% zeolite, F2: 100 ml Bacillus cereus inoculant+74% rice husk+13% zeolite+13% dolomite, F3: 100 ml inoculant Bacillus cereus+74% solid+13% dolomite+13% zeolite, F4: 100 ml Bacillus cereus inoculant+74% tkks+13% zeolite+13% dolomite. The data obtained were analyzed statistically using variance fingerprints. The average result of the analysis was continued with the BNJ test at the 5% level. The results showed that administration of Bacillus cereus without formulation and with the formulation of solid organic matter of rice husks, solids and oil palm empty bunches showed a good response to the amount of chlorophyll and yield of upland rice plants.

Marginal land along the coast should be utilized to increase the national rice production. In addition, the use of saline resistant varieties, it is necessary to determine the best seedling age for saline soil. This study aimed to evaluate the growth and yield responses of two rice varieties transplanted at different seedling age on saline soil. The experiment was arranged in a factorial Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD) with three replications, conducted at saline coastal area of Baros, Yogyakarta, starting from January to June 2017. The first factor was rice varieties, consisting of Dendang and IR-64. Meanwhile, the second factor was the seedling age, consisting of 2 and 4 weeks after sowing (WAS) seedlings. The results showed that the growth and yield of two rice varieties (Dendang and IR-64) showed significant difference, and Dendang showed a better performance than IR-64. The higher yield of Dendang compared to IR-64 was supported by higher plant growth (shoot dry weight) and yield components (number of seeds per panicle, seed weight per plot, and productivity). The 2 and 4 WAS seedlings did not give significantly different effects on nearly all growth variables. However, 2 WAS Dendang rice seedlings had higher shoot dry weight. Meanwhile, IR-64 had higher leaf greenness in 4 WAS seedlings compared to that in 2 WAS seedlings.

Abstract Rice is the major food commodity in Indonesia and many other countries, as the main source of carbohydrate. Rice production must be increased continuously to meet food needs, one of which is by utilizing largely available dry land areas. Two important factors required to increase rice production on marginal soils are the use of high-production adaptive varieties and biological agents. It is necessary to conduct research on the application of local microbes to the cultivation of upland rice cultivars, with the aim to determine the best genotypes and/or suitable microbes. This research was carried out at the Research Field and laboratories of Faculty of Agriculture, University of Halu Oleo, from April 2020 to April 2021. The first tested factor was biological agents (local microbes), consisting of three levels, namely: without microbes (M0), the fungus Trichoderma sp. (M1), and the bacteria Pseudomonas sp. (M2). The second factor was the upland rice cultivar, which consisted of five levels, namely: V1 (Tinangge cultivar), V2 (Enggalaru cultivar), V3 (Bakala cultivar), V4 (Momea cultivar), and 1 nasional variety, namely V5 (Inpago-12 variety), as check variety. The research results showed that the interaction between local microbes Trichoderma sp. (M1) and Pseudomonas sp. (M2) on Tinangge (V1) and Momea (V4) cultivars gave a better effect on crop production. The best cultivar based on the growth and yield variables was generally obtained from the Momea cultivar (V4), although in many variables it was not significantly different from the Tinangge cultivar (V1). These cultivars could be further studied and possibly developed for promising cultivars in Kendari areas.
