A swampland has considerable potential in agriculture. This land has high soil acidity level, and high iron content. Therefore, the application of ameliorant to acid sulfate soil is essential to improve the soil and make it more suitable for rice cultivation. This study aimed to know the effects of phosphorus (P) from Moroccan Rock Phosphate (MRP) and fertilization on swamp rice (Oryza sativa L.). The experiment was conducted at the experimental location of Indonesian Swampland Agricultural Research Institute (ISARI), Puntik Village, Barito Kuala District, South Kalimantan and arranged in a randomized nested design consisting of 100 kg.ha-1 TSP (Control), 750 kg.ha-1, 1,000 kg.ha-1, and 1,250 kg.ha-1 Moroccan rock phosphate with four replications in each treatment.  The yield component of grain increased significantly at 3.77 ton.ha-1. The highest of grain yield was obtained in the application of 1,000 kg.ha-1 MRP. Meanwhile, significant positive correlation was observed between plant height and the number of spikelets per panicle. The application of phosphate fertilizer can increase soil pH, which affects the growth and yield of rice plants such as plant height and yield.

The research aims to study the effect of mixture of cocopeat and rock phosphate on growth and yield of three varieties of upland rice in Ultisols medium. The research was conducted at the Green House of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Pekanbaru from March to August 2017. The research used Split Plot Design. The main plot were upland rice consist of three varieties (Situ Bagendit, Situ Patenggang and Inpago 8). The subplots were mixture of cocopeat 10 t ha-1 with rock phosphate (RP) doses 0, 30, 45, and 60 P2O5 kg ha-1. The parameters observed were plant height, number of maximum tillers and productive tillers, panicle length, flowering age, number of grain panicle-1, weight of dry milled grain and weight of 1000 grain. The results showed that the application of mixture of cocopeat doses 10 t ha-1 and RP doses 30 – 60 P2O5 kg ha-1 have effect to plant height, panicle length, and weight 1000 grain for Situ Bagendit, Situ Patenggang and Inpago 8 compare to without RP, but tended increase number of maximum and productive tillers and decrease flowering age. The application cocopeat doses 10 t ha-1 and RP doses 30 P2O5 kg ha-1 increased number of filled grain panicle-1 and weight of dry milled grain on three varieties, weight of dry milled grain Situ Patenggang > Inpago 8 > Situ Bagendit on each doses of RP and have number of productive tillers of these varieties 1,5 – 2  is greater than its descriptions.Keywords : rock phosphate, ultisol, upland rice

ABSTRACT The purpose of the research was to studied the application of gliricidia MOL on the growth and yield of lowland rice in the salibu method, and to get the best concentration of gliricidia liquid organic fertilizer  (POC) on the growth and production of lowland rice. Field research has been conducted in Tababo Village, Subdistrict of Belang, district of Southeast Minahasa. The treatment in the experiment consists of one treatment factor, that were concentrations of gliricidia POC, ie  : 0, 50 , 100, 150, and 200 ml/litre. The results showed that gliricidia POC  have an effect on plant height, the number of  grain/panicle, and the dry grain yield (GKP) / plot, but not affect the number of productive tillers and weight of 1,000 grain. The best results were achieved in gliricidia POC concentration 200 ml/litre  with the highest values were: plant height was 98.93 cm; 116.420 grain/panicle; and 8.300 kg dry grain yield or equivalent to 6.92 ton/ha.Keywords : gliricidia POC, production, lowland rice,  salibu method

The growth and yield of two lines of uniculm barley, WID-103 and WID-105, were compared over a range of sowing rates (50-400 kg/ha) with the commercial varieties Galleon and Schooner. The experiments were conducted at Strathalbyn, S.A., in 1986, 1987 and 1988 and at the Waite Agricultural Research Institute in 1987. A third tillered variety, Clipper, was included in the comparison in 1988. Over the three years plant populations measured early in the season ranged from 39/m2 to 709/m2, and grain yields from 97 to 41 1 g/m2. Dry matter production at ear emergence increased with greater plant density, and both the tillered varieties and the uniculm lines showed similar responses to higher sowing rates. At maturity, dry matter production of the tillered barleys was greater than or equal to that of the uniculms and the harvest indices (HIs) of the two types were similar. Consequently, grain yields of the tillered types were greater than or equal to the yields of the uniculms. Over the four experiments the tillered varieties had a 6% higher yield. The number of ears/m2 was the yield component most affected by plant density in both the tillered and uniculm barleys. The uniculm lines had more spikelets/ear, but tended to set fewer grains/spikelet and produce smaller kernels. The experiments failed to demonstrate any advantage of the uniculm habit to the grain yield of barley. These results differ from previous experiments that showed that a uniculm line, WID-101, had a higher yield than the tillered variety Clipper. It is suggested that the uniculm habit per se was not the cause of this higher yield, but its higher HI resulted in it outyielding Clipper. Current varieties, however, have HIs similar to the uniculm lines and yield equally to or more than the uniculm barleys examined. To further improve the grain yield of uniculm barley, greater dry matter production is necessary as the HIs of these lines are already high.

SUMMARYA field experiment was made with pigeon pea (Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp.) at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, during the rainy seasons of 1975 and 1976 to study the effects of plant type, plant population density and the application of phosphate fertilizer on growth and yield of pigeon pea. Cultivars BS-1 and UPAS-120 produced significantly more grain with 100 × 103 plants/ha, whereas the cultivar Prabhat produced most when 200 × 103 plants/ha were grown. Application of 13 kg P/ha increased most growth and yield attributes and increased the grain yield significantly over the control to which no P was given; however, no additional increase was obtained when 26 kg P/ha was given. The highest-yielding cultivar BS-1 benefited most from phosphate fertilizer.

The present experiment was carried out at Agricultural Research field, Noakahali Science and Technology University, Noakhali, Bangladesh during the period from September 2018 to February 2019 to find out the effects of Vermicompost and Farmyard manure growth and yield of Broccoli. The single factor experiment was carried out by Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. Three treatments viz., T0= Control, T1= Vermicompost and T2= Farm Yard Manure as well as Centeuro variety were used. Data were recorded from different stages of plant growth on plant height at different days after transplanting, number of leaves/plant, leaf length, leaf diameter, plant spread, 50% curd initiation days, 50% curd maturation days, curd diameter, Marketable curd weight, Net curd weight and Yield/plot. All the recorded parameters were statistically significant among the treatments. The tallest plant (43.67cm) can be recorded from T1 (vermicompost) whereas lower plant height (38.10cm) was notified from control (T0). The maximum number of leaves (16.03) recorded from vermicompost treated plant where minimum from control (T0; 13.28). Highest leaf length (40.67cm), leaf diameter (16.22cm), plant spread (47.91cmü), early curd initiation (73.22 days), early curd maturation (89.72 days), curd diameter (16.16cm), marketable curd weight (452.67g), net curd weight (361.43g) and yield/plot (3.94kg) was found from vermicompost treated plant is compared with Farmyard manure whereas lowest data recorded from control. Observing the results it can be stated that using of vermicompost treated plants gave better growth and yield contributing characters of Broccoli in contemporary with other treatments.

This reserach aims was to determine the effect of planting systems on the growth and yield of Pandan Putri  plants in several planting systems in Mundak Jaya Subdistrict, Indramayu Regency. The experiment used a randomized block design with four treatments, each treatment was six replication. The results showed that the treatment of legowo 2: 1 cropping system gave the highest effect for plant height per clump, number of tillers per clump, number of panicles per clump and dry milled grain yield per hectare and legowo 2: 1 cropping system gave the highest yield of dry unhulled rice, which is 5.19 tons / ha and was significantly different from other treatments

Thirteen traditional upland rice varieties (Kadidit Pilit, Red 64, Masipag 9, Masipag 15, Dinorado, Mindoro, Camuros, Masipag 22, Palawan, Suleg, Biday, Pilit , Pilit Talacdan) were evaluated in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) in three replicates at the experimental area of Central Philippines State University (CPSU), Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental from November 2012 - April 2013. The parameters compared were their agronomic data on growth and yield, including grain characteristics. These data were processed using the one-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) with the Statistical Tool for Agricultural Research (STAR) (Version 2.0.1) while Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) were used to compare significant treatment means at 1% level. The upland rice varieties showed significant variation in growth, yield showed distinct grain characteristics. Biday variety was the tallest, produced longer and wider leaves, and bore the longest panicle. Mindoro and Masipag 22 produced the most number of tillers. Pilit talacdan had the biggest culm, produced the heaviest panicle, with the highest number of filled grains per panicle. Pilit variety gave the heaviest weight of 1,000 grains. The grain features were also found to be distinct in each variety. The yield significantly varied among the upland rice varieties. Pilit and Pilit Talacdan gave the highest yield among the varieties grown at CPSU condition. The performing varieties would be used for upland rice improvement and breeding program and for further verification in the farmer’s field.

A pot experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of Zn and Fe application on growth and yield of garlic (Allium sativum L.) var. Desi Sufaid at National Agricultural Research Centre, Islamabad during Rabi season 2018-2019. Eight kilogram of sandy clay loam soil was filled in the pots. Four garlic cloves were sown in each pot. The treatments of Zn, Fe and their mixture (1:1 ratio) @ 5 kg ha-1 along with basal dose of N, P and K (100, 75 and 50 mg kg-1) fertilizer were applied at sowing following complete randomized design with three replications. The plants were allowed to stand till maturity and data on growth traits like plant height (cm), pseudo stem diameter (cm), leaf length (cm), leaves plant-1, bulb diameter (cm), cloves (bulb-1), clove weight (g) and bulb yield (g plant-1) were recorded at harvest. The mean data were analyzed statistically. The highest growth attributes like plant height, number of leaves per plant, bulb diameter, cloves, clove weight and bulb yield were harvested with micronutrients (Zn and Fe) along with basal dose of N, P and K (100, 75 and 50 mg kg-1) application which were significantly higher as compared to control. Though, all the treatments showed positive effect through growth characteristics and yield, however, the mixture of Zn and Fe application produced comparable garlic yield among all the treatments which was 6 and 4 (%) higher than that of sole application of Zn and Fe, respectively. Significant improvement in Zn and Fe concentration in garlic plant tissues was observed with the application of Zn and Fe respectively. Overall the combination of both micronutrients performed better than rest of the treatments through improved growth traits and bulb yield.

Rainfed land with an area of 1.4 million ha is the second rice barn after irrigation land for Indonesia. Understanding rainfed land is land that has a bund but cannot be irrigated with a certain height and time continuously. Therefore the irrigation of rainfed land is largely determined by rainfall so that the risk of drought often occurs in the area during the dry season. So far, rice varieties for rainfed land that have resistant properties to blast disease are still very limited. On the other hand, it is very necessary to diversify the resistant varieties of blast disease to overcome the disease so that the resistance genes are not easily broken. Therefore we need a number of varieties with a wide diversity of resistance genes that are recommended for planting by farmers. The Agricultural Research and Development Agency has released drought-tolerant rainfed lowland rice varieties and several pests and diseases such as Inpari 10, inpari 38, inpari 40, inpari 42, inpari 43 and HHZ5-DT1-DT1 lines. The research method used was Factorial RGD with the treatment of PTT application and conventional technology interacted with rice varieties.The results showed that the application of PTT technology had a real / good influence compared to conventional technology on the growth and yield of rice plants. PTT can increase production by 5.9% and income by 12.6%. Inpari 42, Inpari 43 and HHZ5-DT1-DT1 varieties are relatively more stable than other varieties and Inpari 43 has a higher production compared to other varieties.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of different sowing dates on growth and yield potential of pre released rice genotypes under irrigated conditions of Northern Telangana zone. The field experiments were carried out during two consecutive rabi seasons of 2018-19 and 2019-20, on clay soils of agricultural research station, Kunaram, Telangana state, India. The experiment was laid out in strip plot design with three replications. The treatments comprised of three sowing dates i.e. 20th November, 5th December and 20th December in horizontal factor and four genotypes i.e. KNM 733, RNR 15048, KNM 1638 and KNM 118 in vertical factor. Pooled data analysis results revealed that the different sowing dates and genotypes significant effect on all the studied growth and yield characters. The rice crop sown on 20th December recorded significantly  higher grain yield ( 8138 kg ha-1) and Among the genotypes, the short slender, short duration genotype KNM 733 recorded the recorded the maximum grain yield ( 8024 kg ha-1), which was on par with the other genotypes. The treatment combinations data results concluded that the, among the genotypes the genotype KNM 118 was recorded highest grain yield (8438 kg ha-1) when sowing was taken up on 20th December and followed by  the genotype KNM 733 with sown on 20th  November. In respect of economics of treatment combinations, the highest net returns (Rs.91,165 ha-1) and B:C (2.47)  ratio were obtained when rice crop was sown during 20th December with the  genotype KNM 118 and followed by sown on 20th November with the  genotype KNM 733.
