Background: Anatomy is a basic medical science that very important for medical students and other health professions. With a good understanding of the anatomy, they can understand the condition of the patient's illness. However, many of students who complain about the difficulty of anatomy. This paper aims to provide an alternative choice of instructional design in large classes (large group) to improve the quality of learning.Method: literature review.Results: There are many designs of learning that can be applied in a large group. Each has advantages and disadvantages. To improve the quality of student learning, need to be actively involved students in the learning process, so that the material being studied can understand and survive long in the memory of the student.Conclusion: Management of the large group on anatomy lesson is required to produce effective learning. One of the instructional design that can be applied to achieve these objectives is the 4C / ID by applying the principles of active learning.

This chapter is an account of personal experiences of lecturers teaching large classes at an institution of higher learning where a lack of active learning skills among students was observed. A number of challenges for active learning were identified including lack of facilities and large classes. The lecture method was identified as the main delivery method at the institution that led to students becoming passive listeners and not active constructors of knowledge. Additionally, higher-order thinking skills were not evident during lectures in large classes as most of the tasks required low-level thinking skills. There was a rush to finish the course outlines and to make sure that the number of prescribed tasks was given to students, which compromised not only active learning but also the overall quality of teaching.

AbstractThe experience both of being exposed to unfamiliar systems and places and of being an anonymous face in a large class can be not just alienating for undergraduates, but antithetical to effective learning. We propose a number of active learning strategies designed to help students fully master the material presented even in very large classes in comparative politics and international relations, while also improving students' attendance and interest and developing critical thinking, reading, and writing skills, without overburdening the instructor. Among these strategies are Team-Based Learning, interactive approaches such as debates and simulations, and low-stakes assignments such as “minute writing.”

Summary Many generations of medical students learned more than just the principles of the basic medical sciences from experimental animals. Animals have also provided them with their first opportunity to become acquainted with the characteristics of living tissue. It has long been contended that the number of animals used in medical teaching was greater than was necessary to meet the second objective. Until the advent of low cost microcomputers, however, there was no way to diminish animal use without compromising the quality of instruction. Computer programs simulating both human and animal systems are being developed at several institutions which will improve teaching while reducing the number of animals used. The advantages and disadvantages of the simulations are discussed.

Improving the quality of learning in a blended learning environment for first-year biology   Abstract Increased class sizes and rapid advancement of information technology has prompted institutions to move toward blended learning. The effectiveness of the instructional design of the blended learning courses has not been studied extensively in large classes. This study aims to interrogate the effectiveness of the instructional design of a large first year biology class with the aim of providing the most effective blend for all students but focusing on the at-risk and murky middle students. This was done by firstly investigating which of the different learning opportunities contributed most to the success of the students and secondly by investigating student engagement with the learning opportunities provided to them. The results show that small, face-to-face tutorial classes and online formative assessments contributed the most to student success. The results also show that at-risk and murky middle students tend to make use of learning opportunities less after the first summative assessment, possibly putting them at risk of failing.

The article considers the role of trust in the economy, the mechanisms of its accumulation and the possibility of using it as one of the growth factors in the future. The advantages and disadvantages of measuring the level of generalized trust using two alternative questions — about trusting people in general and trusting strangers — are analyzed. The results of the analysis of dynamics of the level of generalized trust among Russian youth, obtained within the study of the Institute for National Projects in 10 regions of Russia, are presented. It is shown that there are no significant changes in trust in people in general during the study at university. At the same time, the level of trust in strangers falls, which can negatively affect the level of trust in the country as a whole, and as a result have negative effects on the development of the economy in the future. Possible causes of the observed trends and the role of universities are discussed. Also the question about the connection between the level of education and generalized trust in countries with different quality of the institutional environment is raised.

Cloud computing has been envisioned as the definite and concerning solution to the rising storage costs of IT Enterprises. There are many cloud computing initiatives from IT giants such as Google, Amazon, Microsoft, IBM. Integrity monitoring is essential in cloud storage for the same reasons that data integrity is critical for any data centre. Data integrity is defined as the accuracy and consistency of stored data, in absence of any alteration to the data between two updates of a file or record.  In order to ensure the integrity and availability of data in Cloud and enforce the quality of cloud storage service, efficient methods that enable on-demand data correctness verification on behalf of cloud users have to be designed. To overcome data integrity problem, many techniques are proposed under different systems and security models. This paper will focus on some of the integrity proving techniques in detail along with their advantages and disadvantages.

This article aims to explain maqâṣid al-Qur’ân according to M. Quraish Shihab and its application in interpreting verses related to the use of social media. The problem that will be answered in this article covers two main issues, namely how the perspective of maqâṣid al-Qur’ân according to M. Quraish Shihab and how it is applied in interpreting the verses of the use of social media. The method used is the thematic method, namely discussing verses based on themes. Fr om this study the authors concluded that according to M. Quraish Shihab there are six elements of a large group of universal goals of the al-Qur’ân, namely strengthening the faith, humans as caliphs, unifying books, law enforcement, callers to the ummah of wasathan, and mastering world civilization. The quality of information lies in the strength of the monotheistic dimension which is the highest peak of the Qur’anic maqâṣid. M. Quraish Shihab offers six diction which can be done by recipients of information in interacting on social media. Thus, it aims to usher in the knowledge and understanding of what is conveyed in carrying out human mission as caliph, enlightenment through oral and written, law enforcement, unifying mankind and the universe to the ummah of wasathan, and mastery of world civilization

Abstract Distance learning and e-learning have significantly developed in recent years. It is also due to changing educational requirements, especially for adults. The article aims to show the advantages and disadvantages of distance learning. Examples of the 20-year use of the distance learning form of computer science describe the difficulties associated with the implementation and implementation of this form of teaching. The results of students in the full-time and distance form of teaching in the bachelor’s study of computer science are compared. Long-term findings show that distant students have significantly lower scores in the first years of study than full-time bachelor students. In the following years of study, the differences diminish, and students’ results are comparable. The article describes the possibilities of improving the quality of distance learning.
