AbstractIn patients with chronic renal failure, hemodialysis therapy is needed to replace kidney function by removing nitrogenous substances and toxins in the blood and excessive water. Appropriate management of patients with chronic kidney failure in addition to preventing complications is expected to increase the client's life expectancy. In patients with chronic kidney failure, quality of life also reflects the quality of treatment because it involves physical, psychological, and social processes to be achieved. A good quality of life is needed by hemodialysis patients to prevent the disease from getting worse. This literature review aims to describe the quality of life hemodialysis patients. This study accesses an online database with electronic searches on Pubmed, Portal garuda and Proquest. The search was conducted by combining the keywords “quality of life, chronic kidney disease, hemodialysis” and articles published in the period 2012-2021. Instrumen for the literature review using Strobe instrument. The results of the literature review show that the quality of life score on the physical health dimension is low while on the psychological and environmental dimensions the quality of life score is high. . It is hoped that this study can be a reference for nurses in providing holistic nursing care to patients undergoing hemodialysis so that their quality of lifecan improve. This research is then needed as a data base for the development of other researchers. Keywords: Chronic renal failure; hemodialysis; quality of life AbstrakGagal ginjal kronik disebabkan karena disfungsi ginjal yang bersifat menahun, progresif, irreversible yang memerlukan terapi hemodialisa, pengaturan pola makan dan akses cairan yang masuk. Background : Chronic kidney disease is a pathophysiological process with diverse etiology, resulting in a progressive decline in renal function, and the patients generally end up with kidney failure. Family support is a support given by families who have blood relations in favor of the health of patients with kidney failure. Quality of life is an individual perception of patients with kidney failure toward his position in life. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship of family support with the quality of life of patients with chronic renal failure undergoing hemodialysis therapy in PMI hospital Bogor. The method of this research uses uses descriptively analytic type with cross sectional approach. The sample of this researchconsists of 129 respondents. The sampling was taken by accidental sampling technique. The instrument in this study were questionnaires family support and quality of life. The data were analyzed by using univariate and bivariate (using the chi-square test with α = 0.05). Result : Based on the research results through 88 respondents that (68.2%) whose family support is good, then 86 respondents (93%) have a good quality of life, and 2 respondents (5%) have less quality of life. From 8 respondents (6.2%) whose family support is less, 1 respondent (2%) have a good quality of life, and 7 respondents (19%) have a less quality of life. Based on statistical test p = 0.000, it can be concluded that there is significant correlation between both variables. Clonclusion : It is concluded that there is a relationship between family support and the quality of life among patients with chronic renal failure undergoing hemodialysis therapy in PMI hospital Bogor. Through this research, it is expected to be used as a source reference of information for nurses in hemodialysis room.

Aim. Designing a complex assessment questionnaire of oral status and quality of life in terms of oral health in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Material and method. This study is required because there are lacks of information in Romania, related to oral status of patients with chronic kidney disease – chronic renal failure, with or without nephritic syndrome, with or without dialysis. Rationale study was conducted by internationally indexed database query. The design study consists to finally obtain a questionnaire to collect medical information related to: the stage of kidney disease, main cardiac, liver, skeletal system diseases and also diabetes. All these are related with specific medication and its influence on oral cavity. There has been collected biochemistry data with relevance in chronic renal failure related to the oral status, oral symptomatology – the presence or absence of roots, toothless, the xerostomia. Also we obtain data about denture presence or absence, quality of life trough prosthetic efficiency – chewing efficiency – for hard and soft foods, esthetic satisfaction, sanitization effectiveness, necessity and effectiveness of dental treatment. The questionnaire is applied to a group of patients with renal impairment and, by comparison, to a group of patients without renal impairment. Results and conclusions. The final form of a pre-test questionnaire has been obtained. After applying the two groups of patients: were correct errors of form and were subsequently excluded sections with insufficient data, were optimize application time, readjusted methodology subjects inclusion/exclusion.

Osteoarthritis is a progressive, degenerative condition, which causes mobility issues and behavioural changes in affected cats as a result of chronic pain. Despite reports in the literature suggesting a vast prevalence of the condition among the domestic cat population, the condition appears to be underdiagnosed. This is likely due to a combination of subtle clinical signs, lack of owner awareness and poor correlation between radiographical changes and severity of clinical signs. Multimodal management of feline osteoarthritis is likely to be most successful in alleviating pain and improving quality of life. This may include some or all of the following: medical management, rehabilitation therapies, weight loss, environmental adaptations, joint supplements and surgery.

SUMMARY BACKGROUND: To date, the therapeutic effects of exercise have not yet been evaluated regarding renal function parameters and quality of life specifically in patients with advanced chronic kidney disease. Thus, the study aim was to evaluate the effects of aerobic exercise in renal function and quality of life in patients with advanced chronic kidney disease. METHODS: A quasi-experimental prospective study [NCT03301987] was carried out. Nine patients with advanced chronic kidney disease were recruited from a hospital nephrology unit. Kidney function parameters such as creatinine, creatinine clearance, urea clearance, glomerular filtration rate, and creatinine/weight proportion, as well as the Kidney Disease Quality of Life SF-36 (KDQoL-SF36) were measured at baseline and after 1 month of aerobic exercise. RESULTS: Significant increases (P <.05) were observed for creatinine/weight proportion as well as symptoms, effects, charge, and physical domains of the KDQoL-SF36 after 1 month of therapeutic exercise. The other parameters did not show any statistically significant difference (P >.05). CONCLUSIONS: Aerobic exercise may cause improvements in renal function and quality of life of patients with advanced chronic kidney disease. Further studies about therapeutic exercise protocols specifically in patients with advanced stages of chronic kidney disease should be carried out in order to study their effectiveness and safety.

Background: The feasibility and benefits of lifestyle intervention in chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients who are obese has not been well studied. We examined the early effects of an exercise plus weight loss intervention on body composition, exercise capacity, metabolic parameters and kidney function in obese subjects with CKD. Methods: Nine subjects (median age 57 years, body mass index (BMI) 43.9) underwent a lifestyle intervention program that included supervised aerobic exercise (i.e. ∼85% maximum heart rate) and dietary counseling (500 kcal reduction in daily caloric intake). Body composition (iDXA), exercise capacity (maximal oxygen consumption), quality of life, insulin resistance (Matsuda index), inflammation (high sensitivity C-reactive protein), adipokines (leptin and total adiponectin) and kidney function (iothalamate glomerular filtration rate) were measured at baseline and after 12 weeks of the intervention. Changes in parameters were compared using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Results: After 12 weeks of intervention, there was a significant decrease in BMI and fat mass (median -4.9 kg (25th-75th percentile -5.9 to -3.0)). There was a significant increase in exercise capacity (3.7 ml/kg/min (3.0-4.7)), along with improvements in insulin sensitivity (0.55 (0.43-1.2)), total adiponectin (780.9 μg/ml (262.1-1,497.1)) and leptin (-5.1 ng/ml (-14.5 to -3.3)). There were improvements in biomarkers of kidney disease very quality of life measures, but kidney function remained unchanged. Conclusion: Lifestyle modification is feasible in obese patients with CKD and produces weight loss that is related to improvements in exercise capacity, insulin resistance and adipokines. Whether lifestyle-induced weight loss and fitness can be sustained and whether it will mediate improvements in kidney function over time merits further investigation.
