Over the years, more and more households are beginning to have pets. So, the most important issue recently was how to raise pets in an easy way. In today’s world, there is a growing focus on the regular interactions between human and physical devices. This paper introduces a smart pet monitoring and feeding system that is working in an environment of Internet of Things (IoT). Pet feeders came into existence as pet owners found it difficult to cater time to feed their pets. This system allows the owner to schedule and manage feeding times, portion sizes, and food supply for pets. They are controllable on smartphones using blynk and computers in order to feed them even when owners are away. The food dispensing mechanism is performed by the servomotor. It allows the user to monitor the pets using IP camera. A voice recording module is interfaced to the Arduino Uno with the owner’s voice recording for calling the pets at the meal time. Automatic water refilling has been designed and implemented along with the food dispenser.It offers new and developed way of feeding pets without the need of human intervention with refill alert and feeding alert. . Using smart pet feeder in houses will assure pet owners and increase comfort and peace of mind. Especially when we are unavailable for them.

Be it industry or academia, Internet of the Things (IoT) has become buzzword today. Everyone is expecting a system of gadgets controlled by web without human intervention. The concept has opened many possibilities and a fear of failure too. All over the world the research is going on and few organizations have already started implementing the concept at a small level. But the available research is still immature and undirectional. The area is very young, the research too. Hence there is a need to develop an IoT architecture which is universally acceptable by various IoT objects as well as server.  To facilitate with the need, the paper presents a novel IOT architecture. In addition, the interaction of IoTobjects with each other has been discussed alongwith connection of a server’s infrastructure with another server’s infrastructure through API gateway.

Pets in the home need particular attention and care. They must be provided with food, beverages, and medicine as soon as possible. Due of most owners' hectic lifestyles, this job may not be as easy as anticipated. Inadequate attention to the requirements of pets may have serious consequences such as hunger and illness, among other things. In light of the above, this paper presents an Internet of Things-based automated feeder system that use the Raspberry Pi for remote control, scheduling, and intelligence. Its design and subsequent execution are anticipated to at least take care of the nutritional aspects of pets by delivering food, beverages, and medicine to pets on a schedule or as needed in the absence of the owner. As a result, the goal of this study is to automate the monitoring and feeding procedure, which is now done manually by pet owners. The four-wheeled system allows it to effortlessly climb stairs. Because of its body weight, the mechanism generates traction. The robot has applications such as remote feeding of every kind of animal from afar, remote exploration of the house to deceive thieves into believing someone is at home. It also lets you customise daily meals, keep your pet secure while you are away from home, store up to 7 pound, keep food fresh, and monitor your pet's nutrition. The robot may also prevent a person from eating a particular meal while allowing other animals to access the food. All these features attract owners of more than one animal to the robot.


Due to rise in population, the waste disposed by human has become enormous. This paper deals with a real time practical application of designing and building a prototype for an automatic opening and closing of dustbin on the detection of the human intervention who wish to throw out their trash. In this system the level of garbage in the bin can be known by the use of sensors. Each dustbin has a unique ID. If the garbage in the bin reaches the threshold level, the garbage collectors are given information based on which they can collect the garbage. In case the dustbins reach threshold level, user will not be able to access the bin. In order to avoid the decaying smell around the bin the harmless chemical sprinklers are used. Further, the garbage is segregated into bio degradable and non-biodegradable wet and dry waste using a conveyor belt. Internally electric oven burns the dry waste and the ashes are used for certain applications such as in cleaning the pond and in preventing the growth of algae in the pond water. The wet wastes are made to decompose and it acts as a fertilizer to the fields. The plastic wastes collected are used in building plastic tar roads


The concept of internet of things, or IoT as it is popularly referred to, came into being when it was discovered that it is possible for computers to communicate with devices ranging from simple home appliances to industrial machinery and equipment without the need for any human intervention. The fact that IoT makes it possible for computers to simplify manufacturing processes and bring about a radical change in our daily lives, making this technology an important step forward and in tandem with cloud computing. In this chapter, the authors discuss the contributions that IoT can make in construction industry. With IoT it is possible for a machine to let a remote computer know from any part of the world its current status and physical disposition. For construction firms that need to operate machinery and equipment in distant locations, IoT makes it possible to collect monitor and manage in real-time.

Global food production needs to increase by approximately 70% by 2050 to ensure food security and feed the global population which is expected to reach 9.6 billion by 2050. To achieve these objectives in a sustainable manner, there is a need for modernisation and intensification of agricultural practices. There is also an increasing demand for proving sustainability within supply chains with research showing a direct correlation between transparency and consumer trust in agri-food products. This chapter starts out by detailing the impact and need for a globalised food system. It then progresses to discuss existing applications of Internet of Things (IoT) systems and the potential of future IoT systems in helping achieve these targets. The chapter also briefly touches upon the potential for combining Blockchain Technology and IoT systems in helping improve transparency and accountability within agri-food supply chains.

A smart space is an environment, mainly equipped with Internet-of-Things (IoT) technologies, able to provide services to humans, helping them to perform daily tasks by monitoring the space and autonomously executing actions, giving suggestions and sending alarms. Approaches suggested in the literature may differ in terms of required facilities, possible applications, amount of human intervention required, ability to support multiple users at the same time adapting to changing needs. In this paper, we propose a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) that classifies most influential approaches in the area of smart spaces according to a set of dimensions identified by answering a set of research questions. These dimensions allow to choose a specific method or approach according to available sensors, amount of labeled data, need for visual analysis, requirements in terms of enactment and decision-making on the environment. Additionally, the paper identifies a set of challenges to be addressed by future research in the field.
