The traditional assessments which only covered lower-order thinking skills are still commonly used by teachers in Palembang. Yet the 21st-Century education demands the empowerment of higher-order thinking skills (HOTS).The objective of this study was to find out the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of interactive questions in measuring students' HOTS. The research and development applied was 4-D model which included four stages (define, design, develop and disseminate). The study was conducted on the tenth graders of SMAN (Sekolah Menengah Atas Negeri-State Senior High School) 4 Palembang, SMAN 9 Palembang, and SMAN 19 Palembang in the even semester of academic year 2018/2019. The instruments of data collection were validation sheets and interactive questions. The data analysis techniques used were Microsoft Excel 2010 and WINSTEPS version 3.73.0. In conclusion, the study showed that: 1) the expert validation results were very high category; 2) the instrument was considered as good by teacher and student responses; and 3) the interactive questions were effective in measuring students’ HOTS.

This study aims to determine the improvement of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) in Economics lessons through the Inquiry model in class X students. IPS.1 Tanjung Jabung Timur 9 High School. This research was conducted in Tanjung Jabung Timur 9 High School in the academic year 2018/2019. This research is classroom action research with research procedures covering the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were all students of class X. IPS.1 Tanjung Nabung Timur High School 9 9 which consisted of 36 students consisting of 16 male students and 20 female students. The object of this research is the application of the Inquiry model to improve Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). Data collection techniques used were observation, interview, documentation, journal and test assessment. Analysis of data obtained by calculating the percentage of graduation of students in high-level thinking skills. The results of the study showed that there was an increase in Higher Order Thinking Skills in Economics in class X students. IPS.1 SMA N 9 Tanjung Jabung Timur. It can be seen that the average increase and graduation from cycle to cycle. In the first cycle the percentage of student graduation was 36.11% and HOTS was 13, and in the second cycle it increased by 41.67% with HOTS as many as 15.

This study aims to determine the effect of the application of the blended learning model to improving higher order thinking skills (HOTS) on thermodynamic material. The research method used in this study is quasi-experimental, while the research design used is Non Equivalent Design. Samples were taken using purposive sampling technique, with class XI MIA 1 as an experimental class and XI MIA 2 as a control class. The instrument used in this study was an HOTS test item in the form of multiple choice questions. Data analysis techniques using SPSS software to test hypotheses, and Microsoft Excel to determine the magnitude of the increase in HOTS. The results of the independent sample t-test showed a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.03. Large increase in the experimental class by 0.50 (50%), and by 0.40 (40%) in the control class. This shows that learning using the blended learning model has a better effect in HOTS than learning without blended learning.

The purpose of this study is to reveal the opinions of pre-service teachers regarding the teaching of digital storytelling, which is one of the methods where students actively participate in the learning process, produce content, and learn while having fun, unlike the conventional methods. The research was undertaken as a case study. The study was carried out in Gazi University in the 2015-2016 academic year. The results of the research suggest that the pre-service teachers were mostly pleased with the digital storytelling task. Pre-service teachers who studied in groups were more satisfied and the pre-service teachers believed that digital storytelling positively affected many higher-order thinking skills, creativity in particular. Although higher-order thinking skills are not expected to improve with such short tasks, it can be suggested that the topic may have a positive effect.

This study aims to determine the learning outcomes of class XI students in Tugumulyo State Senior High School 2018/2019 Academic Year after using the physics-based teaching material of elasticity and hooke’s law and to find out the students response to learning using the higher order thinking skills approach to elasticity and hooke’s law material of class XI students at Public High School Tugumulyo 2018/2019 Academic Year. The population of this study were all students of class XI and the subject of this study consisted of 34 students of class XI IPA 5 of State Senior High School Tugumulyo. Data collection is done by questionnaires, tests, and observations. The overall percentage of teaching material components was 79,24% (very good). The percentage of student responses to higher order thinking skills -based teaching materials is 76,53% (very good). In addition, from the results of daily test tests, the effectiveness percentage of 88.89% (very good) of students who scored above 70 out of 10 test items. The value of t count> t table with the value of t count = 2,13and t table = 1,697. So that the use of higher order thinking skills -based teaching materials can be said to be valid, practical and effective.

This research is motivated by the absence of availability of Higher Order Thinking Skills-based mathematics learning worksheets. This study aims to produce Higher Order Thinking Skills-based mathematics learning worksheets for fourth grade students of SD Negeri 02 Kurai, Suliki District, Lima Puluh Kota Regency that meet valid and practical criteria. This type of research is Research and Development (R&D). The development model uses 4-D which is modified into 3-D. The steps taken are define, design, and develop. This research was conducted in the even semester of the 2020/2021 academic year on flat-shaped material. In the validation process, the LKPD was validated by 3 validator lecturers, namely material expert validators, linguists and design experts. Data for validity were obtained from the results of the validation sheet which had been assessed by validators of material experts, linguists and design experts who got a percentage value of 87.5% with valid criteria. In the practicality process, the LKPD was tested by 1 teacher and 8 fourth grade students at SD Negeri 02 Kurai. The data for practicality was obtained from the practicality sheet (teacher and student response questionnaires) which got a percentage value of 95.06% with very practical criteria. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the LKPD on the flat material based on Higher Order Thinking Skills for class IV has met the valid criteria and is very practical to be used as one of the teaching materials in mathematics learning, especially for grade IV students in elementary schools. This is valid and very practical so that it can be used as an alternative learning material that can be used as an additional learning resource.

This study aims to describe the higher order thinking skills of children aged 4-6 years in early language learning based on lesson study. The research method used descriptive qualitative. The subjects of this study were B group students of Telkom Preschool Ternate in  2020/2021 academic year. Data collection was carried out using direct observation, in-depth interviews and documentation that explored children's abilities of critical and creative thinking aspects. Data were analyzed which followed to the three main steps; data reduction, data presentation and verification, and concluding. The study found that early language learning based-on lesson study activities can stimulate children's abilities in critical aspect; 18 students (81.8%) answered questions and retold and 4 students (18.2%) are able to interpret stories. Meanwhile, in creative thinking aspects 10 students (45.5%) have criteria that often appear of completing assignments in the form of the work given by the teacher. The children identify the problem, giving various responses and comments; become active learner both collaboratively in completing sharing and jumping tasks on ‘ profession’

The low problem-solving ability in understanding biology lessons makes biology lessons difficult for some prospective teachers to learn. This study aims to determine the contribution of science process skills to higher-order thinking skills. This study uses quantitative methods to analyse the HOTS skills of prospective biology teachers. The quantitative descriptive method used in this study. Data collected from 59 respondents through the Saturated Sampling technique. The instrument used was 54 multiple choice questions with indicators of science process skills and higher-order thinking skills. The data obtained is processed quantitatively with Microsoft Excel. Prospective Biology teachers have the contribution of science process skills with a high level of ability of 13% and a contribution is known. This research proves that the contribution of science process skills to prospective biology teachers to higher-level thinking skills has low categorisation. Rendahnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah dalam memahami pelajaran biologi menyebabkan pelajaran biologi menjadi sulit dipelajari oleh sebagian calon guru. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kontribusi keterampilan proses sains terhadap kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif untuk menganalisa keterampilan HOTS calon guru biologi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah diskriptif kuantitatif. Data dikumpulkan dengan sampel sebanyak 59 mahasiswa melalui teknik Sampling Jenuh. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa 54 soal pilihan ganda dengan indikator keterampilan proses sains dan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi. Data yang diperoleh diolah secara kuantitatif dengan Microsoft Excel. Calon guru Biologi memiliki hasil kontribusi keterampilan proses sains dengan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi sebesar 13% dan diketahui adanya kontribusi. Penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa kontribusi keterampilan proses sains calon guru biologi terhadap kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi memiliki kategori rendah. Kata kunci: Keterampilan Proses Sains; Calon guru biologi; HOTS; Pelajaran biologi.

Lack of students' skills in answering questions that require analysis, evaluation, and creativity so that in learning they cannot answer questions that require higher-order thinking skills. This results in the level of thinking of students in Indonesia is still low, as seen from Indonesia's ranking in the TIMSS in 2015. One of the efforts made to improve these higher thinking skills is by using the HOTS test package. This type of research is a development research with the Thiagrajan or Four D Model which aims to describe the process and results of developing HOTS-based test packages for eighth grade students on the Theorema Pythagoras material which is valid, practical, and effective in training students' higher order thinking skills. The method used in this research is the test method to determine the validity and effectiveness of the test package and the questionnaire method to determine practicality. The results of this study are in the form of students' achievements in analyzing, evaluating, and creating in accordance with higher-order thinking indicators with good interpretations. The HOTS-based test package, the subject of Pythagorean Theorema, produced in this study is valid, practical, and effective and can be used to improve students' higher order thinking skills. This study aims to describe and determine the effect of self-concept on higher-order thinking skills of class VIII SMPN 1 Mataram in the academic year 2020/2021. This type of research is included in ex post facto research, with a sample of 32 students of class VIII F SMPN 1 Mataram in the 2020/2021 academic year. Students fill out and complete self-concept questionnaires and test questions for higher order thinking skills. The results showed that (1) Self-concept owned by 3.13% students was categorized as very good, 21.87% students were in good category, 62.5% students were in quite good category, and 12.5% ​​students were in low category. Meanwhile, for higher order thinking skills, there are 3.13% of students in very good category, 21.87% of students in good category, 62.5% of students in good enough category, 9.37% of students in poor category and 3, 13% of students in the very poor category. (2) There is an effect of self concept on higher order thinking ability with regression equation Y = 1.283 + 0.787X.

The research aims to improve the ability of students insolving problems based on Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) subjects Mathematics material bangun ruang sisi datar with the use of learning models Team Assisted Individualization (TAI).  This research uses the Research method Classroom Action (CAR) with two cycles, where each cycle consists of four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data analysis using the percentage formula, if completeness is ≥ 85%, the cycle is terminated sign that the research has been successful.  Based on research that has been done, obtained the increase in students completeness from the pre cycle results was 19.4%, in the first cycle amounted to 77.4%, and in the second cycle of 89.7%.  This shows that the use of the Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) learning model can improve the ability to solve questions based on Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) subject mathematics material to bangun ruang sisi datar in students VIII grade of SMP Negeri 1 Juwangi in the academic year 2019/2020.
