This social engagement is done in order to improve understanding and performance of the teachers of Taman Rama Jimbaran Junior High School (TRJ-JHS) where there is no teachers that have the background study in Informatics and Technology. There are only 5 classes n TRJ-JHS. This small numbers of classes has caused less number of teaching periods. The solution to solve this problem is by assigning the teachers to teach other subjects that were not their background of study before. Based on the regulation of Educational Ministry Number 15 Year 2018, verse 4 poin 3 stated that “The implementation of learning process is 24 period per week as the minimum total and 40 periods per week as the maximum total. This lack of knowledge has made teachers found difficulties especially regarding the topics about Algorithm and programs. Purposes of study are to improve the level of knowledge and performances also it will enable the teachers to teach the students appropriately based on the competency gained. Method used was online conference through Ms Team. Main findings of this social engagement are: the eagerness of the Principal and teachers of TRJ-JHS to improve level of knowledge and performances by giving feedback through practices. There were 2 times evaluations after 3rd and 4th meetings by reconsidering difficulties on the process. The teachers are able to understand the topics especially on Algorithm and the skills in making and editing the learning videos. The results of pre-test and post-test has shown the improvement where at the pre-test out of 20 participants, 16 failed while 4 passed the passing score 76 and the results of post-test was all participants can get the scored 76 and above. Finally, this improvement is expected to be applied properly and appropriately for students especially for the subject Informatics and technology.

This study was a case study which aimed to analyze the types of questions used by an English teacher, the purposes of questions asked by the teacher, and the strategy used to cope with non-responded questions. The subject of this study was an English teacher who taught seventh grade students at SMPN 1 Singaraja which is located in Singaraja, Buleleng regency, Bali, Indonesia. The data were collected through observation, interview, and video recording. The result of the analysis showed that from 241 questions, the teacher more frequently asked convergent, closed, and display questions rather than divergent, open, and referential questions. Procedural questions were also found. The teacher’s questions served several purposes such as to check students’ knowledge and understanding, to attract students’ activeness, to develop students’ interest and curiosity, and to stimulate students in stating information. It was also found that the teacher used seven strategies to cope with non-responded questions. This study suggested the teacher to balance the number of convergent, closed, and display with divergent, open, and referential questions to be used during teaching and learning process. In addition, the teacher should know more about the strategies for non-responded questions and the proper way to use those strategies to make the teaching and learning process runs smoothly.

The Covid-19 pandemic has changed people's habits to always maintain cleanliness. Good knowledge of the Covid-19 pandemic and oral hygiene as an effort to prevent the transmission of Covid-19 is important to apply during this pandemic, one of which is through online education. This study aims to determine the effect of online education on the level of knowledge of Methodist-2 Kisaran junior high school children in maintaining oral hygiene during the covid-19 pandemic. This type of research is pre-experimental with one group pretest post-test design. The research sample was 50 students of Methodist-2 Private SMP students. Data was collected by dividing the questionnaire twice (pretest and post test) via smartphone. Data were analyzed using paired t test. Based on the results of the study, the average score for knowledge of Methodist-2 Private SMP children in maintaining oral hygiene during the Covid-19 pandemic before being given online education was 34.96±1.795 and after increasing to 37.38±1.383. The conclusion of this study is that there is an effect of online education on the level of knowledge of Methodist-2 Kisaran junior high school children in maintaining oral hygiene during the Covid-19 pandemic.

<p>This study presents a research report on improving students’ Knowledge on <br />learning Aljabar through Cross Age Tutoring. The objective was to find out whether students’ knowledge improved taught by Cross Age Tutoring. It was conducted using classroom action research method. The subject of the study was the Grade VIII students of State Junior High School 175, Jakarta. One class from eight parallel classes was taken as the subject of this research namely the grade VIII.3. The numbers of the students were 36. They were taught Aljabar using Cross Age Tutoring technique. The instruments used were test. In analyzing the data, the mean of the students’ score for the pre-test was 4.1, <br />for progressing- test1 was 4.7, for progressing-test2 (Post Test for first Cycle) was 5,6, for progressing-test3 was 6,6 and the post-test (Second Cycle) was 7,2 and the total percentage of the improvement from the pre-test to post-test was 75,6%. The conclusion is that the Cross Age Tutoring can improve the students’ knowledge on learning algebra. It is suggested that teachers should apply Cross Age Tutoring technique as one of the strategies to improve students’ knowledge on learning algebra. <br /> <br /><br /></p>

The objective of this article is to report a study on how YouTube video is implemented so it can improve students’ speaking proficiency. The study was collaboration classroom action research. The subject of the research was seventh grade students of one state junior high school in Surakarta in the academic year 2012/2013. The data were collected through interview, questionnaire, pre-test, photograph, and post-test. The findings of the research show that when YouTube video was used effectively, it enhanced students’ speaking skill, and classroom climate. In conclusion, YouTube video can be applied as an alternative media in language-teaching process include for teaching speaking.

<p>This research is aimed at finding out: 1) To what extent graphic organizers can improve students’ writing coherence; 2) How graphic organizers can be implemented effectively in improving students’ writing coherence. The research method used in this study is classroom action research. The subject of the research was the students of class VIIIB of a state Junior High School, Kebumen which consist of 32 students. In this research, the collected data were analyzed using a qualitative and quantitative technique. The result of the study shows that the students’ mean score of writing coherence on pre-test is 56.35, then it improves in post-test 1 to ­­­­­­­­70.45 and 79.4 in post-test 2. Moreover, the result of the study also shows that graphic organizers can be implemented effectively if the teacher: (1) gives clear explanation and examples of graphic organizers; (2) guides and monitors the students during the process of writing; (3) provides exercise of grammar; and (4) keeps the students motivated in writing. Considering the result of the study, the researcher suggests that an English teacher had better implement graphic organizers in teaching writing in order to help the students improving their writing coherence. <strong><em></em></strong></p>

Students’ achievement in writing descriptive text is very low, in this study Think Pair Share (TPS) was applied to solve the problem. Action research in conducted for the result and the technique to collect the data, qualitative and quantitative are applied in this research. The subject of this research is grade VIII in Junior High School (SMP Bilang Huluh) Rantau Parapat. In the first evaluation (66,4375) increased to the mean of second evaluation (78,125) and the mean of third evaluation (87,5625). Observation result showed that the students gave their good attitudes and responses during teaching and learning process by applying the application of TPS (Think Pair Share) method. Questionnaire and interview report showed that students agree that the application of TPS (Think Pair Share) method had helped them in writing descriptive text. It can be conclude that the students’ achievement is improved when thay are tought through TPS Method. Key Words: Achievement, Writing, Descriptive Text and Think Pair Share

This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR).  It aimed at improving students’ speaking skill of the 7th grade at SMP N 1 Kotabunan East Bolaang Mongondow through the snowball throwing technique. The subjects of this research were 31 students consisted of 21 girls and 10 boys. But, only 25 students who attended the classroom. In this research, the researchers used mixed method (quantitative and qualitative design). To collect the data, the researchers utilized by using tests and observation. The researchers conducted the tests by asking the questions that related to the lessons that students had previously learnt.  Meanwhile, observation was accomplished in order to observe qualitatively about the students’ learning process by the technique. The results showed that, in the first cycle, the mean score was 39.84 with percentage of students who passed the test was 52%. While in the second cycle, the mean score of post-test was 72.16 with the percentage of students who passed the test was 100%. According to the observation in the first cycle, it revealed that students could not carry out the technique properly and some students were not good in speaking such as having bad grammar and pronunciation. Furthermore, the researchers used the papers to construct as a ball in conducting the snowball throwing technique. In the second cycle, it indicated that the students were going better by carrying out the following technique. Based on the indication of the result, it can be said that there was an improvement of students’ speaking skill through snowball throwing technique of the 7th grade at SMP N 1 Kotabunan East Bolang Mongondow.

This study attempted to improve the students’ achievement in writing description by applying the Team-Games-Tournament Technique. This study was conducted by applying classroom action research. The subject of the research was the grade VII students of state Junior High School Swasta Laksamana Martadinata Medan. The numbers of the students were 50. The research was done into two cycles in which the first cycle consisted of three meetings and second cycle consisted of three meetings.  The instruments used in this study were writing test, interview sheet, diary note, and observation sheet. The techniques for data analysis were qualitative and quantitative. In analyzing the data, the mean of the students’ score for the pre-test was 57.6, for progressing-test I was 65.38, for progressing-test II was 74.82, and the post-test was 82.24, and the total percentage of the improvement from the pre-test into post-test was 88 %. The findings showed that the students’ score kept improving in every evaluation. It means that the application of Team-Games-Tournament Technique potentially improves the students’ achievement in writing description text.

This research was Classroom Action Research to analyze students’ reading comprehension through SQRW. In this research, researcher used random sampling in selecting the participant and answering the question of questionnaire. In collecting the data, the researcher did observation and used reading task, test, teacher’s diary and Questionnaire. The subject of the study is the second year students of SMP Negeri 20 Padang, The subject consists of 40 students, 23 male and 18 females. From the data that have been found, they have good ability in serving, answering questions, reading and writing. It means the ideal passing score is at least 75%. This study was stopped when 90% of the students, subject of this study have reached the passing grade. It is recommended that English teacher of junior high school use the SQRW in the classroom, the teacher must to be able to support the students to learn reading by using SQRW and also the teacher must consider the best teaching in developing the use SQRW.

This research aimed to describe how picture series medium can increase the students’s writing skill for eighth grade at state junior high school 1 of Bintan. Classroom action research was the research design. The research comprised of two cycles with four meeting in the two cycles. A test was the main data of this research. Twenty students in VIII B at state junior high school 1 of Bintan, in the academic year of 019/2020 was the subject of this research. The outcome appeared there were upgrades in students’ writing skill. It tends to be seen from the outcome of each post-test in the two cycles. Students’ test average in cycle 1 was 63.57. Students’ test average in second cycle was 68.87. It means picture series medium could help students in improving their writing skill.
