This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR).  It aimed at improving students’ speaking skill of the 7th grade at SMP N 1 Kotabunan East Bolaang Mongondow through the snowball throwing technique. The subjects of this research were 31 students consisted of 21 girls and 10 boys. But, only 25 students who attended the classroom. In this research, the researchers used mixed method (quantitative and qualitative design). To collect the data, the researchers utilized by using tests and observation. The researchers conducted the tests by asking the questions that related to the lessons that students had previously learnt.  Meanwhile, observation was accomplished in order to observe qualitatively about the students’ learning process by the technique. The results showed that, in the first cycle, the mean score was 39.84 with percentage of students who passed the test was 52%. While in the second cycle, the mean score of post-test was 72.16 with the percentage of students who passed the test was 100%. According to the observation in the first cycle, it revealed that students could not carry out the technique properly and some students were not good in speaking such as having bad grammar and pronunciation. Furthermore, the researchers used the papers to construct as a ball in conducting the snowball throwing technique. In the second cycle, it indicated that the students were going better by carrying out the following technique. Based on the indication of the result, it can be said that there was an improvement of students’ speaking skill through snowball throwing technique of the 7th grade at SMP N 1 Kotabunan East Bolang Mongondow.

This study aims to find out whether the use of Round Robin Technique can improve the speaking skill of junior high school students. This research was conducted in one class and applied the pre-experimental design that was one group pre-test and post-test design. There were four meetings in this research including pre-test and post-tests. The sample is students in one class that consisted of 32 students, with 15 females and 17 males. The instruments used to obtain the data were pre-test and post-test. The mean of the student speaking score of the pre-test was 43.71 and the mean of the post-test was 79.2. The improvement from pre-test to the post-test was 35.49 points. The average score of the students was 79.2, it was higher than the Criteria Mastery of Learning (or KKM, Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal) of a junior high school in Banda Aceh, which is 70.00. The result of this study can be shown in the t-test that there was an improvement of students’ speaking skill, with the t-test of 25.3, the degree of freedom is 31 and t-table is 1.696. Based on the result of the test, it can be concluded that the use of Round Robin Technique improved the students’ speaking skills. This technique offered the students’ chances to share ideas and opinion with their peers, speak up and express their argument in class.

Students’ achievement in writing descriptive text is very low, in this study Think Pair Share (TPS) was applied to solve the problem. Action research in conducted for the result and the technique to collect the data, qualitative and quantitative are applied in this research. The subject of this research is grade VIII in Junior High School (SMP Bilang Huluh) Rantau Parapat. In the first evaluation (66,4375) increased to the mean of second evaluation (78,125) and the mean of third evaluation (87,5625). Observation result showed that the students gave their good attitudes and responses during teaching and learning process by applying the application of TPS (Think Pair Share) method. Questionnaire and interview report showed that students agree that the application of TPS (Think Pair Share) method had helped them in writing descriptive text. It can be conclude that the students’ achievement is improved when thay are tought through TPS Method. Key Words: Achievement, Writing, Descriptive Text and Think Pair Share

This research was aimed to enhance students’ speaking skill at eight grade students of Islamic Junior High School Sawit Seberang, Langkat Regency. The subject of this research was a class consisted of 40 students. The research consisted of two cycles. Each cycles consisted of two meetings. The object of this research was to enhance students’ speaking skill by the use of Ice Breaker strategy. This research was conducted by using Classroom Action Research. Qualitative and Quantitative data were used in this research. The qualitative data while the quantitative data were taken from students’ score in Pre-Test, Post Test I, and Post-Test II. The result of analyzing data indicated that there was significance enhancement on students’ speaking skill after the use of Ice Breaker strategy. It can be seen from the students’ score in every cycle. In Pre-Test, there were only 30% (12 students) whose score up to 75. In Post-Test I, there was 52.5% on the percentage of students whose score up 75 (21 students), while in Post-Test II there were 80% students whose score up 75 (32 students). From data analysis, it showed that there was enhancement on students’ speaking skill. It can be seen from the mean of Post-Test II was 80.3. In other words, students’ speaking skill has enhanced. Based on the qualitative data, the students gave good responses and showed enthusiasm after the use of Ice Breaker strategy in speaking skill.

The subject of this research is grade VII in Junior High School (SMP N 2 ) Kisaran. In the first evaluation (66, 2926) increased to the mean of second evaluation (76, 7560) and the mean of third evaluation (87, 0243). Observation result showed that the students gave their good attitudes and responses during teaching and learning process by applying the application of  Realia. Questionnaire and interview report showed that students agree that the application of Realia had helped them in writing descriptive text. It can be conclude that the students’ achievement is improved when thay are tought through Realia.   Key Words: Achievement, Writing, Descriptive Text and Realia

This Collaborative Classroom Action Research aimed at enhancing students’ speaking skill through the application of Circle Game. It was conducted in one cycle consisting of two meetings. The subject was the seventh of C class of SMPN 2 Alas Barat consisting of 22 students. The types of data were qualitative (acquiring observation during the learning process) and quantitative (speaking tests). The results qualitatively showed that the implementation of Circle Game enhanced the students’ speaking skills. Such improvement could be seen from their enthusiasm, their interesting feeling in various materials presented by the teacher, their active involvement. In the quantitative findings, the result also showed a higher value of the mean score of the post-test (77.34) rather than the pre-test (75.75). In conclusion, the use of Circle Game can improve students’ speaking skill.

<p>This article describes an action research held at seventh grade students of a junior high school in Surakarta on the implementation of reflective practice through students’ dialogue video recording to improve students’ speaking skill. The research data are collected through observation, interview, questionnaire and speaking tests. The data are then analysed through the procedure of assembling, coding, comparing, building interpretations, and reporting the outcomes. The research findings point out that reflective practice through students’ dialogue video recording improves students’ speaking skill which including: 1) the students developed their vocabularies; 2) most of the students could pronounce in acceptable pronunciation; 3) many students could speak fluently without too many pauses or repetition; 4) students could correctly use the grammar and they could recognize the wrong and correct the grammar that had been taught. Besides, the students’ mean score also improves from 34 in pre-test, 45 in test 1 and 64.5 in post-test.</p>

This study is a classroom action research (CAR). This study proposed example non example technique to teach English for second grade students at state junior high school 1 Larangan Pamekasan to solve the students’ problems on speaking skill. The result of the preliminary study indicated that the problem of the students toward their speaking skill is the average speaking score is lower than the minimum standard of learning (KKM). Based on the pre-test, the students who got score more or equals to 75 are 7 students and 33 students got less 75. Then the researchers collaborated with the teachers try to solve the problem using example non-example technique using classroom action approach. The results showed that the instruction through example non-example technique in the Cycle I and Cycle II, there was improvement of students’ speaking ability at second grade of state junior high school 1 Larangan Pamekasan. The students were more imaginative and feel free to show their understanding about the pictures. It made they motivate to learn and they could improve their speaking ability.

This research aimed (1) to explain the learning process in writing short stories using the Learning-Based Project Methode by Class VIII at Lau State Junior High School, Maros Regency; (2) to explain the learning tesult of the short stories after the implementation of the model of the Learning-Based Project Methode by Class VIII at Lau State Junior High School, Maros Regency.The research type used was the Classroom Action Research, know as Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) or the Classroom Action Research. This Classroom Action Research implemented several cyrcle in its implementation.The research results indicated that there had been inceases of the process and the learning achievement of the students. Meanwhile, the learning result of the control class showed a difference. Cycle I reached the mean result of 70,86 and the cycle II reached the mean value of 72,11. However, such difference did not show any increase in the learning result. Both cycle could be categorized as adequate. The learning achievement of the experiment class showed a difference which was significant enough. Cycle I reached the mean value of 79,76 and could be categorized as adequate, while cycle II reached the mean value of 84,79 which was categorized as good. This revealed the learning increase which was significant enough.

<p>This study presents a research report on improving students’ Knowledge on <br />learning Aljabar through Cross Age Tutoring. The objective was to find out whether students’ knowledge improved taught by Cross Age Tutoring. It was conducted using classroom action research method. The subject of the study was the Grade VIII students of State Junior High School 175, Jakarta. One class from eight parallel classes was taken as the subject of this research namely the grade VIII.3. The numbers of the students were 36. They were taught Aljabar using Cross Age Tutoring technique. The instruments used were test. In analyzing the data, the mean of the students’ score for the pre-test was 4.1, <br />for progressing- test1 was 4.7, for progressing-test2 (Post Test for first Cycle) was 5,6, for progressing-test3 was 6,6 and the post-test (Second Cycle) was 7,2 and the total percentage of the improvement from the pre-test to post-test was 75,6%. The conclusion is that the Cross Age Tutoring can improve the students’ knowledge on learning algebra. It is suggested that teachers should apply Cross Age Tutoring technique as one of the strategies to improve students’ knowledge on learning algebra. <br /> <br /><br /></p>
