Purpose This study was conducted to explore the effect of intervention in the form of sexual behavior guidance on the quality of sexual life of young and middle-aged male patients with rectal cancer. Methods Twenty cases of young and middle-aged male patients with rectal cancer were randomly divided into experimental and control group in each group including 10 cases per group. The control group was given the traditional health education after the rectal cancer Miles operation. While the experimental group was given sexual behavior guidance and “sex focused training therapy” after the Miles operation and before sexual intercourse in order to overcome erectile dysfunction. The International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF-5) questionnaire was used to measure the sexual functionality of both groups upon admission, at the time of discharge and after 3, 6 and 9 months. Results In the experimental group, patients with normal sexual function at the 6th and 9th month after discharge were 7 cases and 9 cases respectively, which were significantly higher than the control group which included 5 cases and 6 cases (p-value < 0.05). Conclusion In conclusion, sexual health education not only could effectively improve the sexual function of young and middle-aged male patients with rectal cancer after Miles operation, but also could improve the quality of the sexual life of the patients. It is considered to be worthy to promotion and application on clinical practice.

Objective: to analyze functional surgical outcomes in patients with distal rectal cancer and their quality of life at different time-points postoperatively.Materials and methods. This retrospective study included all patients with rectal cancer that underwent either abdominoanal resection of the rectum (with their sigmoid colon brought down into the anal canal) or low intraabdominal resection of the rectum with the formation of a mechanical coloanal anastomosis in Irkutsk Regional Oncology Dispensary between 1999 and 2012. Study participants were divided into two groups: the experimental group included patients who had low intraabdominal resection of the rectum, whereas the control group consisted of patients who had abdominoanal resection of the rectum. We evaluated 5-year survival and patients' quality of life (using the Wexner and FIQL scales).Results. One year postoperatively, 17 patients (25 %) from the control group had unsatisfactory sphincter function (Wexner score 11–20). Sixty-three patients from the control group (95 %) reported fecal incontinence of varying severity. In the experimental group, 40 patients out of 88 (45 %) that survived during the first year had normal sphincter function. The remaining patients had solid stool incontinence or inability to retain feces for a long time (Wexner score <10).Conclusions. Low resections of the rectum ensured better functional outcomes and patients' quality of life than abdominoanal resections of the rectum did.

Background: In long-term care facilities, there are frequent conflicts related to elderly residents’ sexual expression. Nurse aides usually handle such conflicts with negative or negligent attitudes; therefore, elderly sexuality is considered “problem behavior” and is stigmatized. Objectives: This study aimed to improve elderly residents’ quality of sexual life by enhancing nurse aides’ knowledge and attitudes toward elderly sexuality through sexuality workshops. Methods: A quasi-experimental study was conducted with 64 nurse aides and 58 residents, who were divided into two groups, i.e., an experimental group and a control group, according to the floor where the residents resided. The nurse aides in the experimental group participated in sexuality workshops and were compared with those in the control group with respect to their knowledge of and attitudes toward sexuality; the residents’ quality of sexual life was also compared between groups. Results: Compared with the control group, in the experimental group, the nurse aides’ knowledge of and attitudes toward elderly sexuality as well as the residents’ quality of sexual life significantly and continually improved after the sexuality workshops. Conclusion: The four-week sexuality workshop is effective and may be used as an example in developing occupational education programs regarding elderly sexuality in long-term care facilities.

Background:Sexual health is an essential element of overall health and well-being. Rheumatic diseases may affect sexual functioning in many ways related to pain, fatigue, stiffness, functional impairment, depression, anxiety, negative body image, reduced libido, hormonal imbalance and drug treatment. However, these issues are rarely addressed in clinical practice. Objectives:The aim of this study was to evaluate sexual function in a cohort of men with rheumatic disease compared to healthy controls. Methods:This was an observational, single-center, cohort study conducted between august 2019 and march 2020 in the Rheumatology department of “Saint Mary” Clinical Hospital in Bucharest which included 120 men with ages between 18 and 60 years - 60 patients with rheumatic diseases and 60 healthy controls. The study tools were the Sexual Health Inventory for Men (SHIM) questionnaire and one questionnaire referring to personal data, history of the rheumatic disease, comorbidities, treatment and sexual impairment. Also, the disease activity was assessed using specific scores for each condition. Results:In this cohort of 60 patients, the mean age was 45.26 (7.8) years and the diagnoses wereankylosing spondylitis (AS) - 37%,psoriatic arthritis (PsA) - 18%, rheumatoid arthritis (RA) - 17%, systemic sclerosis (SS) - 15% and gout - 13%. More than half of the patients (62%) had active disease based on specific scores (ASDAS for AS, DAS28-CRP for RA, EScSG disease activity indices for SS, DAPSA for PsA). Regarding sexual life, this study showed a significant decrease in sexual life quality after rheumatic disease diagnosis(before diagnosis: 71,67% - satisfying and 16,67% - not satisfyingversus after diagnosis: 21,67% - satisfying and 68,33% - not satisfying). Most patients (90%) reported impairment of their sexual life after diagnosis. In terms of sexual dysfunction (SD), a significantly higher proportion of patients (40%) mentioned reduced libido compared to the control group (18,33%) (p=0.043). Also, 21,66% of the patients reported erectile dysfunction (ED) in comparison with only 8,33% in the control group (p=0.009). Most patients with AS, RA, PsA and gout had mild ED while most patients with SS presented with mild to moderate ED. Also, the SHIM score mean value was significantly lower in the study group (17,65)compared to the control group (20,15) (p=0.009). The importance of SD in this cohort is emphasized by the fact that only one patient conceived after rheumatic disease diagnosis. Concerning treatment, more than half of the patients (55%) reported no effect of the therapy on their sexual life while 38.33% mentioned that medication improved their sexual life and very few (7%) reported a worsening. Conclusion:This study revealed a higher prevalence of sexual dysfunction in male patients with rheumatic disease in comparison with healthy controls. Considering the importance of sexual and reproductive health, rheumatologists should approach this topic with their patients and offer them guidance.References:[1]AG Tristano, “The impact of rheumatic diseases on sexual function”, Rheumatol Int 2009 Jun;29(8):853-60Disclosure of Interests:None declared

Objective: To evaluate the effect and clinical significance of tadalafil combined with atorvastatin on hemodynamics and sexual function in middle-aged and elderly patients with hyperlipidemia complicated with Erectile dysfunction (ED). Methods: Eighty patients with hyperlipidemia complicated with ED who were treated at The Second Hospital of Hebei Medical University from January 2019 to June 2020 were selected. Using a completely randomized design experimental method, these 80 patients were randomly divided into two groups: the experimental group and the control group, with 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with a single drug, atorvastatin calcium, while the experimental group was given tadalafil orally on the basis of the control group for 3 months. Changes in the levels of inflammatory factors such as IL-6, TNF and CRP, adverse drug reactions, changes in hemodynamic indicators such as HSV, LSV, PSV, HCT and ESR before and after treatment, as well as changes in sexual function after treatment were compared and analyzed between the two groups. Results: TNF-a, CRP and IL-6 in the experimental group were significantly lower than those in the control group after treatment, with statistically significant differences (p<0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse drug reactions between the two groups (p=0.18). After treatment, hemodynamic indexes and sexual function indexes of the experimental group were significantly improved compared with those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (p<0.05). Conclusion: A significant improvement effect can be achieved by tadalafil combined with atorvastatin on hemodynamics and sexual function in middle-aged and elderly patients with hyperlipidemia complicated with ED. At the same time, the combination of the two has synergism on inflammatory factors and blood rheology, and the incidence of adverse reactions is not significantly increased. In modern poultry farming the most urgent tasks are to search for and test new environmentally safe feed and economically justifi ed additives that stimulate productivity, positively aff ect the health of poultry, and consequently increase the livability of livestock and other important zootechnical traits. In order to maintain physiologically normal processes of life, metabolism and increase the level of productivity of poultry it needs mineral components and their chelated compounds. The purpose of this work was to increase the egg productivity of poultry by using the silicon-containing poly additive Nabicat in feeding young hens and laying hens. The researches have been carried out on the poultry cross Highsex Brown under the environments in CJSC “Poultry Farm “Volzhskaya” in the Sredneakhtubinsky area in the Volgograd region. In this paper, The optimal dose of the introduction of the silicon-containing poly additive Nabicat in the diets of young and laying hens of the cross Highsex Brown has been scientifi cally justifi ed and the biological value of using an organic form of silicon has been determined. The positive infl uence of the optimal dose of poly additive on growth, consumption, and digestibility, nutrient metabolism in the poultry body, as well as egg productivity and quality of the resulting egg has been revealed. Thus, the average egg productivity per 1 hen in the control group during the experiment period was 321,3 pcs., and in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd experimental groups it was 322,6 pcs., 325,8 and 325,7 pcs., which was higher than in the control group by 0,40 %, 1,40 and 1,37 %, respectively. The average egg weight in the 1st experimental group exceeded the control by 0,43 g or 0,68 %, in the 2nd experimental group by 1,16 g or 1,84 %, in the 3rd experimental group by 0,81 g or 1,28 %. The economic eff ectiveness of using the organic silicon additive in the composition of Nabicat poly additive in the feeding of laying hens has been proved. The economic eff ect due to the use of diff erent doses of the introduction of silicon-containing poly additive Nabicat in compound feed for laying hens of the 1st experimental group was 141,66 rubles, the 2nd experimental group 962,76 rubles, and the 3rd experimental group 821,89 rubles.

<b><i>Introduction:</i></b> The aim of this study was to investigate the association of transrectal ultrasound (TRUS)-guided prostate biopsy with voiding impairment and the efficacy of doxazosin treatment. <b><i>Methods:</i></b> A prospective observational study including 200 male patients undergoing TRUS-guided prostate biopsy was performed between May 2020 and December 2020. One hundred patients underwent biopsy with doxazosin (doxazosin group). The remaining 100 patients underwent biopsy without doxazosin (control group). All patients were questioned regarding post-biopsy voiding difficulty and acute urinary retention. The International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS), maximal urinary flow rate (Qmax), and residual urine volume were recorded before biopsy and at 7 and 30 days after biopsy. <b><i>Results:</i></b> There were no significant differences in baseline parameters between the two groups. The rate of post-biopsy voiding difficulty in the doxazosin group was significantly lower than that in the control group. Compared with baseline values, doxazosin treatment significantly improved IPSS, quality of life scores, and Qmax after biopsy (<i>p</i> &#x3c; 0.05). The baseline values of IPSS and prostate size may be risk factors for post-biopsy voiding difficulty. <b><i>Conclusion:</i></b> TRUS-guided prostate biopsy causes transient voiding impairments, which may be improved by doxazosin treatment.
