The dynamics of the use of digital technology in the industrial revolution era 4.0 has had an impact on the financial sector. One of them is the development of financial technology (fintech) in the form of online loan services. Furthermore, the flagship product from fintech is lending to micro and small entrepreneurs. Likewise, Islamic banks that have a focus on financing to micro and small entrepreneurs must be able to compete with fintech services in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0 that is happening at this time. The purpose of this study is to analyze the different mechanisms of micro-financing distribution between Bank Mandiri Syariah and microcredit UangTeman.com. The method used is qualitative, which is to compare the requirements, mechanisms, and margins imposed on the customers and the information obtained through secondary data, namely standard and operational procedures. Based on the results of the study, the requirements and procedures for granting loans to micro and small entrepreneurs at Bank Mandiri Syariah are longer compared to UangTeman.com. While the fines for late payment in installments and interest rates on UangTeman.com are higher than the fines and margins of Bank Mandiri Syariah micro-financing. Therefore to be able to improve products and services for micro and small entrepreneurs, Bank Mandiri Syariah conducts a review of business models and business

Islamic Banks is a business entity that raises and distributes funds from the community and for the community. The study was conducted to analyze the macro variables and NPF (Non-Performing Finance) to ROA (Return on Assets) to determine the relationship between short-term and long-term between variables. The analysis model used is the Eagle Granger ECM Stage Two test that uses secondary data from the serial data (time series). The results of this study indicate that NPF simultaneously, GDP, and interest rates affect the ROA. Partially GDP positive and significant effects in the long term and short term, NPF positive and significant effect in the long term, interest rate, and no significant positive effect on ROA.

FinTech is defined as technological innovation in financial services that can produce business models, applications, processes, or products with material effects related to financial services provision. This study aims to analyze the impact of developing a digital payment system and prevent inflation due to a large amount of cash in circulation. The method used in this study is qualitative. Fintech technology is very beneficial for the community, especially in industrial revolution 4.0, where this digital payment system has advantages and disadvantages. The advantages are efficiency and safety, while the disadvantages are higher interest costs. This digital payment system can minimize inflation due to the large amount of money circulating in society.

PurposeThe purpose of this research paper is to discuss the evolution in business models (BM) of one key player (Netflix) in the French online streaming video services market.Design/methodology/approachThe paper is based on a qualitative approach (Netflix case study based on secondary data) to reduce the gap between theory and business practice.FindingsThrough technological convergence, the movie and video industry has seen dramatic changes in the means of consumption, forcing the traditional media players to evolve and adapt their strategy and BM to face new entrants (mainly IT companies). Coopetitive practices have been developed in spite of a fierce competition in the French market with impact on BM. Netflix is representative of this evolution.Research limitations/implicationsThis qualitative research is based on a case study. The results of a single case study cannot be used to make generalizations. Certainly, this paper represents only a first step. Further research is required in this field.Originality/valueThe originality of this paper is to expand the understanding of BMs by including various strategic and marketing perspectives and analyze the impact of coopetitive practices on the BM of one key player: Netflix.

Purpose – This paper aims to extend the topics from a 2007 paper to stimulate debate on strategic issues vital for the long-term success of supply chains (SCs). The authors upgraded from SC process modelling towards SC business model management; from information to knowledge transfer and from the maturity of SC to dynamic capabilities. The paper attempts to identify and connect the elements of SC business model and the key issues for development of dynamic capabilities to enable future redesign of business models. Design/methodology/approach – The paper develops two frameworks showing the elements of an SC business model and the interconnection of those elements and dynamic capabilities. The use of these frameworks is demonstrated in a case study of Post of Slovenia. The case uses both primary and secondary data gathered from interviews, publicly accessible articles and internal reports. Findings – An SC should develop the elements of its business model in such a way that it will be able to continually change its existing or add a new business model from the AS-IS state to a currently unpredictable “TO-BE” state as a response to currently unknown changes in its business model. Research limitations/implications – The selection of the elements in the frameworks is partly arbitrary. A single case study was conducted. Practical implications – SCs should not simply focus on improving the maturity/efficiency of current processes but can use the findings to carefully design their current business model and develop dynamic capabilities for future changes. Originality/value – This paper summarises and extends the recent literature through the dynamic capabilities approach and business model management and proposes two frameworks and identifies topics relevant for future development of the SCM field.

This paper presents the research results in the field of implementation of fourth industrial revolution technologies into the service sector, with a specific focus on the integration of Industry 4.0 technologies into corporate processes of industrial laundries. The theme covered was found topical following the analysis of practical needs and based on the specific nature of industrial laundry processes and only marginal interest paid in professional theory and discussions to the possibility and efficiency of the Industry 4.0 technologies implementation into non-production companies. Based on the analysis and evaluation of secondary data, advanced Industry 4.0 technologies have been identified which might lead to the increase of industrial laundries efficiency. Further, the methods of monitoring, structured interview and case study have been combined to design the integration of Industry 4.0 technologies into the system of existing information and communication technologies and systems. Based on a quality comparison, the case study and structured interview results have proven the benefits of implementation of automated identification and data collection technologies including the implementation of vertical integration of corporate information system and horizontal integration leading to the interconnection with customers in industrial laundries corporate processes.

The rise of financial technology (fintech) driven business models in banking poses a challenge for financial regulators. While the positive effects on the banking sector in terms of greater diversity and competition are generally recognized and encouraged by regulators, the nature of fintech business models may increase the risk of financial instability. Regulators are exploring ways to resolve this dilemma. The paper in hand makes a contribution to the literature by providing a framework for resolving the dilemma that is evaluated in the context of the regulatory response to the rise of fintech credit in the Netherlands. The semi-structured interviews which we conducted with four senior Dutch regulators resulted in three areas that–from their perspective–required urgent action: fintech credit companies need to lower the risk of overlending, increase pricing transparency, and improve lending standards. These findings were confirmed by the results of they survey among fintech credit clients. The current regulatory response to the rise of fintech in banking in the Netherlands provides an interesting case study that delineates the features of the future regulation of fintech in banking.

The banking industry of Oman is a highly enhancing industry with 17 licensed banks. The Central Bank of Oman is the primary regulator of the banking industry of Oman and all the essential factors like fixing interest rates, issuing bonds and more are the responsibilities of this bank. This study was conducted to determine the financial performance of two renowned banks of Oman. Bank Nizwa and Bank Dhofar are the key banks in Oman. The present study is important because it will focus strictly on the banking sector of Oman. In order to conduct the present research study, the performance of four profitability ratios namely net profit margin, ROA, ROE and ROCE will be estimated for the last five years i.e. 2013 to 2018 for both the banks.

The Fourth Industrial Revolution caused by innovative technologies is an irresistible megatrend, and many companies, institutions, and major countries are making efforts to participate. The World Economic Forum took the lead in discussing the Fourth Industrial Revolution, adding the issue to its 2016 agenda, and found that many governments, including that of Korea, were concerned about how to support their nation’s participation in the Fourth Industrial Revolution and were pursuing programs to support such efforts. In this study, we describe one of those programs, the Korean government’s Flagship Project Support Program (FPSP), which supports latecomers in creating open platforms and creating new business ideas in innovative technological industries. The program helps businesses overcome entry barriers to existing business ecosystems established by big technological players in growing fields such as smart cars, the Internet of Things (IoT), virtual reality (VR), etc. The purpose of this study is to determine whether latecomers and small- and medium-sized companies that are experiencing difficulties in their own innovation can succeed in innovation through the Korean government’s FPSP. This study performed a comprehensive and qualitative analysis based on the Logic Model Framework consisting of an investigation of business ecosystems before and after the FPSP, assessment of outcomes, and evaluation of the effectiveness of the FPSP. This study shows that open platforms resulting from the FPSP successfully innovated business models in Korea. Our study, therefore, has implications for other governments seeking to play a role in supporting the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

In the age of technology, continuous innovation is the ultimate motto of the financial sector to attract customers. Firms in the financial sector must be innovative in terms of service quality and operational performance to obtain customer loyalty and gain financial stability. A dearth of studies on customer loyalty and financial performance of Islamic Banks motivated the authors to examine the relationship between customer loyalty and financial performance. The study also explores whether the service qualities have any impact on customer loyalty. The study uses both primary and secondary data to conclude the research objectives. A survey of 356 questionnaires was carried out among the customers of the selected Islamic banks of Bangladesh to gather information regarding customer service quality and customer loyalty, while financial performance data were attained from the annual reports. Moreover, the study follows the SERVQUAL model’s five dimensions (tangibles, empathy, assurance, reliability, and responsiveness) to determine the service quality of Bangladeshi Islamic Banks. Rigorous statistical techniques, including exploratory factor analysis, reliability testing, and regression analysis were used to investigate the hypothesis. The study empirically documents a positively significant impact of service quality (tangibles, empathy, reliability, and responsiveness) on customer loyalty, while assurance shows an insignificant relationship. Furthermore, the study does not find any significant relationship between customer loyalty and the financial performance of Bangladeshi Islamic Banks. The findings of the study profoundly denote that the financial performance of Bangladeshi Islamic Banks mostly depends on many other financial and non-financial factors, rather than customer loyalty.

Digital transformation since year 2010 has provided a huge worldwide market with digital consultants as top players. Digital transformation is a socio-economic phenomenon subject to lengthy surveys and actual cases on behalf of digital consultants between 2010-2020. By the end of the 2010s, digital transformation management has been reviewed in scientific journals. This is an instrumental case study about digital transformation at PWC, Siemens and Oracle as digital technology providers and consultants. Worldwide digital technology induces digital transformation with the purpose of value creation, motivating companies. Digital consultants are top players. Digital transformation frameworks and digital maturity studies show the dimensions, stages and scales of digital transformation. Roadmaps, programs, projects guide the specific steps from one maturity stage to the target. Business cases are used to compute customer value. Customer value is stipulated in customer contracts in as a service business models. Digital transformation solutions are marketed using these tools.
