This study aims to explore the current implementation of Project Quality Management System and identify critical success factors of project quality management system associated with the indicators for each critical success factor identified. Hundreds of articles searched using keyword of “success factor”, “quality” and “construction” were gathered and analyzed using content analysis method. This research provides a comprehensive compilation of all previous study on the Critical Success Factors for Project Quality Management System implementation, through a clearly structured methodological approach. A total of six critical success factors for project quality management system in construction industry were identified. Each of the critical success factors is associated with three indicators that present evidences of implementation. The findings of this study provide guidance to the organization in implementing project quality management system effectively and efficiently.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to examine the benefits of ISO 9001 certification and the association between them, the level of implementation of the critical success factors (CSFs) required for the appropriate functioning of the quality management system in ISO 9001:2008 certified companies and between other demographic variables. Design/methodology/approach – A research project was carried out in Greek companies from all business sectors using the questionnaire technique. The selected companies implement a quality management system in accordance with the ISO 9001:2008 standard. Correspondence analysis, a methodology from the field of multidimensional statistics, was used to identify significant differences between the effects on performance and other variables such as the implementation level of CSFs relating to the quality management system and years of certification. Findings – External benefits seem to be more important than internal benefits. The least important benefits were mostly business results, such as profits, costs and market share. Differences were detected between the level of performance and certain demographic variables such as the use of International Organization for Standardisation (ISO) alone, size and years of certification. The certified companies have generally benefited from ISO implementation. Research limitations/implications – The study was based on the perceptions (subjective data) of only one quality manager/representative from each company. The motives for ISO certification, which can seriously affect the benefits derived, were not examined. Practical implications – The measures presented here can be used by certified companies to evaluate performance (financial or not) related to ISO 9001 certification and to discover those factors that contribute to the better exploitation of the ISO 9001:2008 standard. Originality/value – This paper aims to evaluate performance since the implementation of the ISO 9001:2008 standard in Greek companies, which are confronting a tough economic environment and to analyse this data with a methodology from the multidimensional field, with the complementary use of some special tables of coincidence.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to examine the level of the importance and implementation of the critical success factors (CSFs) required for the appropriate function of a quality management system (QMS) in ISO 9001:2008-certified companies and the differences between the CSFs and the demographic variables of the companies. Design/methodology/approach – A research project was carried out in Greek companies from all business sectors using the questionnaire technique. The selected companies all implement a QMS in accordance with the ISO 9001:2008 standard. Correspondence analysis, a methodology from the multidimensional statistics field, was also used to identify significant differences between the importance and implementation levels of the CSFs of the QMS. Findings – The importance that quality assurance managers attribute to these CSFs was high enough in most categories, but there was a significant difference in the implementation level, which displayed much lower scores. The most important factors seem to be management commitment, education, and communication, while the least important were the availability of data and use of statistics. Differences between categories of demographic variables were present only for the firm size variable. Research limitations/implications – The study was based on the perception (i.e. subjective data) of only one quality manager/representative of each company. Practical implications – The paper provides information to certified companies in Greece on the differences in the importance and implementation levels of quality management practices (especially for hard factors) and motivation to investigate possible causes. Moreover, the most important factors for the successful implementation of ISO 9001 are presented. Originality/value – This paper describes the implementation and given importance of the CSFs in companies with experience of the ISO 9001:2008 standard and for the analysis of the data a methodology from the multidimensional field is applied, with the complementary use of some special tables of coincidences.

The demand for ISO 9001 certification is increasing, both from the public and private sectors. The adoption of a quality management system should be a strategic decision of an organization. The design and implementation of an organization's quality management system is influenced by varying needs, particular objectives, the products provided, the processes employed and the size and structure of the organization.  It is necessary to explore the issues related to effective implementation of ISO 9001. The objective of this article is to scrutinize the OBD issues, facts, and problems related to implementing ISO 9001 in various industries in order to collect and categorize these factors and issues for finding common critical factors. Authors tried to find related data from each industry with the aim of internet, observation, interview, and questionnaire. After data collection, the Meta analysis will be used to achieve probable common factors or factors that have had more influence on implementing ISO9001 successfully. The influential issues in effective implementation of ISO9001 can be classified into internal and external issues. There are several OBD-related issues like organizational culture, leadership commitment, team working and communication that have a crucial role in this area. The three most important OBD–related issues are organizational culture, leadership commitment and team working.

The problems are formulated as follows: ISO 9001: 2008 certification focuses more on proving compliance with standards and has not accommodated the needs of the education world to meet the expectations of stakeholders as well as continuous improvement of organizational performance. The need for implementation of Quality Management System in education sector becomes important. The focus of this research is to describe the condition of motives, benefits, obstacles and success factors of ISO 9001: 2008 Quality Management System. The research method used is explanatory survey method with descriptive analysis technique. The population of research states vocational school in Bandung and the sample is the manager of Quality Management System. The results describe the condition of motives, benefits, obstacles and success factors of implementation of ISO 9001: 2008 quality management. The motives categorical are high, high benefit, medium barriers and factors of high category success. This means that the impetus of the school to apply ISO is very good, the benefits of good ISO implementation and success factors in the application of ISO is very good, while in its application there are still barriers in the medium category.    Implementation of ISO 9001: 2008 quality management becomes a very important thing to improve the competitiveness of state vocational school in Bandung. PurposeThe purpose of this study is to investigate the critical success factors for total quality management implementation and implications for sustainable academic libraries in Ghana. This study is part of a PhD project that focussed on selected technical university libraries in Ghana.Design/methodology/approachThis study adopted a quantitative approach to collect the data. Samples of 124 participants were involved in this study. PLS-SEM (Smart PLS3) software was used to analyse the data. Convergent, discriminant validity assessment was computed. Eight variables of critical success factors were tested in relation to total quality management implementation at selected academic libraries in Ghana.FindingsThis study established that out of the eight variables tested, six of them (i.e. top management commitment, employee innovation employee training, organisational culture, teamwork and effective communication, quality performance) indicated a significant positive relationship with total quality management implementation apart from strategic planning and human resource management.Research limitations/implicationsThis study was limited to eight variables as the critical success factors mentioned in the previous paragraph. The use of one methodology might be a limitation as the use of multimethod might have given a more comprehensive picture than the case. This study was limited to only technical university libraries in Ghana hence caution must be exercised when applying the results to contextually different academic environments. The results are applicable to academic universities library in Ghana and beyond if they are adjusted to suit the context.Practical implicationsThis study is timely as it may lead to effective total quality management implementation and the sustainability of technical university libraries in Ghana and Africa in general.Originality/valueThe proposed model can be used to enhance the smooth implementation of total quality management in academic libraries in general and Ghana in particular. The framework is termed as Eddie and Pat's Achievement of Quality Performance (EPAfQP) model.
