While there have been scholarly studies that address Nigeria’s diplomacy and contribution to the African Union (AU), many of them have failed to compare and contrast how those have added to the socio-economic development of Nigeria. We encountered a few instances where attempts were made to explain such, yet a fully-fledged analysis lacked in their conclusions. We applied documentary analysis methodology in our review and found that there is a serious misalignment between Nigeria’s diplomacy and support for the African Union on one hand and positive socio-economic development in Nigeria on the other. The study also looks at exploring how the general framework of Nigeria’s foreign policy goals and strategies in Africa can serve both its national interest and the overall development goals of Africa. We argue that for Nigeria’s role in the AU to be meaningful, the country needs to simultaneously revive its internal socio-economic condition.

The issue of the country's socio-economic development and analysis of its dynamics arises within the context of the transition to a market economy. The aim of the research is to consider the state of socio-economic development of the regions of Ukraine on the basis of the generalized multicriteria indicator, cluster analysis, as well as the multidimensional nonlinear regression model. To trace the presence of differentiation in the socio-economic development of the regions of Ukraine is especially important. The analysis implemented in the Thesis covers the widest range of indicators of the socio-economic condition of the regions of the country. An integral indicator of the socio-economic condition of the subjects of Ukraine has been offered as the main characteristic. The state statistical data have been used to construct a generalizing indicator. Ranking, as well as clustering of the country regions according to the selected indicators, makes it possible to more accurately determine which of them are the most developed. A multidimensional nonlinear model for forecasting the level of income of the Ukrainian population has been constructed on the basis of correlation and regression analysis. Conducting a comparative assessment of the socio-economic development of Ukrainian regions using integral indicator methods and cluster analysis, made it possible to identify a group of regions of Ukraine with a similar combination of feature values, as well as to determine the place and role of each of them in the national economy. This is of great importance for the development of the most crucial target programs for the economy, investment directions, and state support of lagging regions. The correlation regression model constructed has made it possible to identify the factors of the greatest impact on the change of population income levels, to determine the absolute and relative influence of the factors on the output indicators, and also to provide a reliable estimate of the future level of the output indicator, taking into account various conditions of the country's socio-economic development.

The article aims to evaluate the degree of diversification of socio-economic development of voivodships in 2005 and 2015 in the context of cohesion policy. This policy focuses on reducing the distance between some European Union countries and the most developed EU members, as well as on decreasing national disparities in development. The analysis was conducted on the basis of the CSO data, using the Hellwig’s method of linear ordering. The selected diagnostic variables relate to three dimensions of cohesion policy: economic, social and territorial. The applied method enabled to assess social and economic situation in Poland, indicating voivodships with high development potential and also those facing difficulties. The research confirmed persistent differences in the development level between the examined territorial units

In recent years, healthcare has become a fundamental pillar of the level of well-being of any society. With the aim of improving the lives of countries and societies, in 2015 the United Nations (UN) approved the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Among the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set out in the Agenda are health and well-being (O3) and the reduction of inequalities (O10). The general objective of this paper is to analyse the impact that the level of socioeconomic development, as well as the evolution of inequalities, have had on public spending on health in European Union countries. The research methodology is based on the application of a regression model and statistical techniques such as sigma convergence, beta convergence and the Gini index. We can see that the levels of public spending on health per capita, the level of socio-economic development and the degree of inequality are closely related in these countries. For this reason, we suggest maintaining sustainable economic growth to reduce the economic disparities between EU countries, and also the current differences in public spending on health per capita.

Particular and general factors determine the dynamics and trends of endogenous development of three unrecognized and partially recognized republics of the Caucasus the Republic of South Ossetia (RSO), Abkhazia, and the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. The article identifies critical factors and assesses prospects for endogenous socio-economic development of an unrecognized and partially recognized Republics of the Caucasus. It uses comparative and statistical methods, namely, one-factor analysis of variance (ANOVA) and the Kraskel-Wallis Criterion. A database developed for this study uses a set of indicators of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for 2007 to 2019 as a formalized universal and balanced system of global determinants. We found that differences in the achieved UN SDGs indicators can be accounted for by the variety of each state's initially socio-economic situation (the effect of a differentiated base). At the same time, the research shows that the dynamics of the development of the Caucasian republics are similar, which determines a commonality of trends of their future (while maintaining current conditions and circumstances). The study results expand our understanding of the development of unrecognized and partially recognized states. It shows that one has to consider this propensity of the Caucasian states to self-development when justifying measures for improving their socioeconomic situation and increasing the effectiveness of investment programs implemented jointly with the Russian Federation to promote the socio-economic development of the RSO and the Republic of Abkhazia.

The state of the global ecosystem is currently approaching a critical point, which affects the socio-economic condition of the society. At the present time, the subject of study of economics and financial sciences should be the study of a world characterized by non-stationary changes; socio-economic and ecological crises, which in themselves are related to the multidimensionality and non-linearity of socio-economic systems. The article builds various models using the theory of catastrophe in the process of global socio-economic development, The Ways of solving them are set, the raised models are solved by the computer program Maple, solutions are given and three-dimensional graphs are constructed. For the purpose of analysis, we have selected a synergetic methodology based on the theory of self-organization of complex systems. Various methods and tools were discussed for modeling the unsustainable development of socio-economic systems of which conceptual-methodological basis is catastrophe theory. The algorithm is defined and a complex of models is built in the article, which allows us to determine the type of macroeconomic indicators, the nature of the dynamics, and to determine the possibilities for the development of crises. In the 21st century, it has become clear that the state of the global ecosystem is approaching to a critical bound and it is reflected on the socio-economic development of the society, in addition, the Covid 19 pandemic made the situation extremely tense. Gradually, we are already approaching to catastrophe with big steps. Given this situation, these types of studies are of particular importance.
