Aim of the paper is to investigate effects of ohmic heating and viscous dissipation on steady flow of a viscous incompressible electrically conducting fluid in the presence of uniform transverse magnetic field and variable free stream near a stagnation point on a stretching non-conducting isothermal sheet. The governing equations of continuity, momentum, and energy are transformed into ordinary differential equations and solved numerically using Runge-Kutta fourth order with shooting technique. The velocity and temperature distributions are discussed numerically and presented through graphs. Skin-friction coefficient and the Nusselt number at the sheet are derived, discussed numerically, and their numerical values for various values of physical parameters are compared with earlier results and presented through tables.

The present paper deals with a steady two-dimensional laminar flow of a viscous incompressible electrically conducting fluid over a shrinking sheet in the presence of uniform transverse magnetic field with viscous dissipation. Using suitable similarity transformations the governing partial differential equations are transformed into ordinary differential equations and then solved numerically by fourth-order Runge-Kutta method with shooting technique. Results for velocity and temperature profiles for different values of the governing parameters have been discussed in detail with graphical representation. The numerical evaluation of skin friction and Nusselt number are also given in this paper.

An unsteady, two-dimensional, hydromagnetic, laminar free convective boundary-layer flow of an incompressible, Newtonian, electrically-conducting and radiating fluid past an infinite heated vertical porous plate with heat and mass transfer is analyzed, by taking into account the effect of viscous dissipation. The dimensionless governing equations for this investigation are solved analytically using two-term harmonic and non-harmonic functions. Numerical evaluation of the analytical results is performed and graphical results for velocity, temperature and concentration profiles within the boundary layer and tabulated results for the skin-friction coefficient, Nusselt number and Sherwood number are presented and discussed. It is observed that, when the radiation parameter increases, the velocity and temperature decrease in the boundary layer, whereas when thermal and solutal Grashof increases the velocity increases.

A two-dimensional stream of an magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) Eyring-Powell fluid on a stretching surface in the presence of thermal radiation, viscous dissipation and the Joule heating is analyzed. The flow model in the form of the Partial Differential Equations (PDEs) is transformed into a system of non-linear and coupled Ordinary Differential Equations (ODEs) by implementing appropriate similarity transformations. The resulting ordinary differential equations are solved numerically by the shooting technique with Adams-Moulton Method of fourth order. The numerical solution obtained for the velocity and temperature profiles has been presented through graphs for different choice of the physical parameters. The magnetic field is found to have a direct relation with the temperature profile and an inverse with the velocity profile. Increasing the thermal radiation, the temperature tends to rise.

This investigation presents a mathematical model describing the momentum, heat and mass transfer characteristics of magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow and heat generating/absorbing fluid near a stagnation point of an isothermal two-dimensional body of an axisymmetric body. The fluid is electrically conducting in the presence of a uniform magnetic field. The series solution is obtained for the resulting coupled nonlinear differential equation. Homotopy analysis method (HAM) is utilized in obtaining the solution. Numerical values of the skin friction coefficient and the wall heat transfer coefficient are also computed.

AbstractThe present work addresses the double stratified mixed convection stagnation point flow induced by an impermeable inclined stretching cylinder. The fluid is electrically conducting in the presence of an inclined magnetic field. Viscous dissipation is considered. Temperature and concentration at and away from the boundary are assumed variable. Series solutions of momentum, energy, and concentration equations are computed. The characteristics of various physical parameters on the distributions of velocity, temperature, and concentration are analyzed graphically. Behaviours of skin friction coefficient, Nusselt, and Sherwood numbers are discussed numerically. Comparison of the skin friciton coefficient is also examined in the limiting case.

The unsteady MHD flow of an incompressible viscous electrically conducting fluid between two horizontal parallel non conducting plates, where the lower one is stretching sheet and the upper one is oscillating porous plate, is studied in the presence of a transverse magnetic field and the effects of Hall current. Fluid motion is caused by the stretching of the lower sheet and a constant suction is applied at the upper plate which is oscillating in its own plane. The stretching velocity of the sheet is assumed to be a linear function of distance along the channel. The expressions relating to the velocity distribution are obtained and effects of different values of various physical parameters are calculated numerically and shown graphically.

ABSTRACTThe effect of space and temperature dependent heat generation/absorption on an unsteady laminar boundary layer flow of viscous, incompressible, radiating and electrically conducting fluid over a vertical stretching permeable surface is investigated numerically in the presence of applied magnetic field and buoyancy force. By applying similarity analysis, the governing partial differential equations are transformed into a set of non-linear coupled ordinary differential equations and they are solved by Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg method along with shooting technique. The numerical values obtained within the boundary layer for the dimensionless velocity, temperature, skin friction coefficient and heat transfer rate are presented through graphs and tables for several set of values of governing parameters.

The present paper investigates the combined effects of Soret and Dufour on free convective heat and mass transfer on the unsteady one-dimensional boundary layer flow over a vertical channel in the presence of viscous dissipation and constant suction. The governing partial differential equations are solved numerically using the implicit Crank-Nicolson method. The velocity, temperature, and concentration distributions are discussed numerically and presented through graphs. Numerical values of the skin-friction coefficient, Nusselt number, and Sherwood number at the plate are discussed numerically for various values of physical parameters and are presented through tables. It has been observed that the velocity and temperature increase with the increase in the viscous dissipation parameter and Dufour number, while an increase in Soret number causes a reduction in temperature and a rise in the velocity and concentration.

This paper considers unsteady, laminar, boundary-layer flow with heat and mass transfer of a nanofluid along a horizontal stretching plate in the presence of a transverse magnetic field, melting and heat generation or absorption effects. The model used for the nanofluid incorporates the effects of Brownian motion and thermophoresis. The governing partial differential equations are transformed into a set of non-similar equations and solved numerically by an efficient implicit, iterative, finite-difference method. A parametric study illustrating the influence of various physical parameters is performed. Numerical results for the steady-state velocity, temperature and nanoparticles volume fraction profiles as well as the time histories of the skin-friction coefficient, Nusselt number and the Sherwood number are presented graphically and discussed.

An investigation is carried out for the steady, two dimensional stagnation point flow of a viscous, incompressible, electrically conducting, optically thick heat radiating fluid taking viscous dissipation into account over an exponentially stretching non-isothermal sheet with exponentially moving free-stream in the presence of uniform transverse magnetic field and non-uniform heat source/sink. The governing boundary layer equations are transformed into highly nonlinear ordinary differential equations using suitable similarity transform. Resulting boundary value problem is solved numerically with the help of 4th-order Runge-Kutta Gill method along with shooting technique. Effects of various pertinent flow parameters on the velocity, temperature field, skin friction and Nusselt number are described through figures and tables. Also, the present numerical results are compared with the earlier published results for some reduced case and a good agreement has been found among those results.
