The authors highlight challenges and opportunities that this subject gives for teachers and students, with particular focus on how to assess a subject that is about creating and presenting concert productions. The Danish model “ønskekvistmodellen” (ØM) is employed as an analysis and evaluation tool to examine the students work with improving the quality of creating, performing and evaluating various concert productions in the years 2017–2019. Data material for the chapter consists of surveys, group interviews and video observation, as well as written reports from the student’s participation at music and art festival (Vrimmel-festivalen) in the northern part of Mid-Norway.

Societies worldwide are becoming more aware of the educational challenges that come with increased cultural diversity derived from ethnic, linguistic, religious, socioeconomic and educational differences and their intersections. In many countries, teacher education programmes are expected to prepare teachers for this reality and develop their intercultural competences. This instrumental case study is based on a project that aims to initiate mobilizing networks between two music teacher programmes to explore intercultural music teacher education. In this study, we map the intercultural competences that are required of music teacher educators and that are provided in the music education programmes at two higher music education institutions in Israel and Finland. The data consists of 11 focus group interviews with music teacher educators at the Levinsky College of Education in Tel Aviv and the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki, conducted by a multinational research team. The data was analysed abductively, using content analysis as a method. While the interviewed teacher educators could articulate many aspects of their own intercultural competences or the lack of them, the findings indicate that in musical diversity and teaching students from different musical backgrounds the teacher educators found it difficult to explain what kinds of intercultural competences their respective programmes provided for the students. Based on the findings, there is a need for a more holistic understanding of intercultural competences in music teacher education as well as how our institutions produce power. There is also a need for the teacher educators in the programmes to collaborate and discuss among each other in order to create “knowledge communities” and to move towards addressing intercultural issues.

Interview-based case studies, involving two institutions, four professors and 11 music teacher trainees were conducted in order to investigate the preconditions for deep learning in the subject of higher music education called musikdidaktik. Analysis was based on the ‘didaktiktriangle’ which is a theoretical model that suggests the relations of the professor, trainee and the selected content as being at the core of any educational endeavour. The model helps to frame the debate about the quality of teaching and learning by highlighting the trainees’ learning as relational. Professors as well as trainees located preconditions for deep learning to relations within the didaktik triangle. Furthermore, it became apparent how those preconditions were connected to the institutional culture within which the triangle relations were played out. It is suggested that deep learning in musikdidaktik was regulated by how the teaching forms and the selected educational content gave space for trainees’ learning styles, strategies and approaches. Furthermore, the learning was affected by the musikdidaktik subject's low status within the institutional culture and its external relations to the trainees’ practical teaching training.

This research aimed to develop an audiovisual-based PowToon animation video on the subject matter of chemical bonds and analyze the quality of the audiovisual-based animated video as learning media to study chemical bonds based on the assessment of material experts, media experts, chemistry teachers, and students’ responses. This research used development research methods (R&D) with a 4D development model (Define, Design, Development, and Dissemination). However, the 4D development model was limited to the dissemination stage in this research. The product is an animated video, which is in the form of mp4, containing chemical bond materials. Based on product quality assessment by a material expert, it gained a percentage of 84.375% with very good (VG) category; from the media expert’s assessment, it obtained a percentage of 96.428% with very good (VG) category; and according to assessment by chemistry teachers of high school, it got a percentage of 98.48% in the very good (VG) category. The product was responded to positively by students with a percentage of 95%. Based on the results of assessments, the animated video can be used as an alternative media for the chemistry learning process in the classroom

Augmented reality is booming in several areas, education is no exception, one of the subjects that is sometimes somewhat complicated for students of industrial design is Market and Consumption, which is why it was proposed as an objective to develop a mobile application with augmented reality that in a first phase includes the theoretical aspects of the subject, then present videos and animations, presenting information reinforcement and integration of exercises of some concepts incorporating various resources. Three stages were identified: 1) general aspects, the participants of the study were established, the materials to be developed, the instruments that would be applied to determine the quality of the application were selected, 2) the Unity software was selected for its development, for both IOS and Android platforms; 3) a rubric on the quality of mobile educational applications was applied to 9 teachers and 64 students randomly chosen from the degree in industrial design, some of the results were 94.7% and 99.6% of acceptance of the application by teachers and students respectively.

Nowadays, cities appear to be the best place to live, attracting more and more people and activities. However, not only does this movement represent a threat to the environment but also provides challenges and opportunities for everyone, e.g., people, companies, organizations, and governments. To provide a good urban quality of life, the efficiency of all assets, buildings, infrastructures, and all systems, as well as taking care of the natural environment, must be addressed and achieved. This paper will, therefore, present the available literature on the subject to discuss the present context, the main challenges, as well as the concept of smart cities, with future cities relying on the mobility and evolution of transport systems for smart, sustainable, resilient, and inclusive mobility. As a result of the research, it is possible to infer that an integrated smart mobility approach can support the efficiency of all transport networks for everyone, today and tomorrow, while faced with the threat of climate change and the challenges of citizens.
