Problem-solving is one of the century skills 21 and are included in the 2013 curriculum. Students with low problem-solving abilities will have difficulty completing math problems that require high-level thinking. Learning media that does not contain problem-solving skills will hinder the achievement of student competence. This research has two objectives. The first objective is to analyze the needs of learning media that are in accordance with student characteristics, curriculum, learning models and teacher readiness. The second objective is to design discovery learning based learning media to improve students' problem-solving abilities. This research uses design research method with type of development studies. The research subjects consisted of teachers and students. Data collection instruments used interview guidelines, observation guidelines, and questionnaires. Interview guides to get information from teachers and students regarding the readiness of teachers in applying the 2013 curriculum and learning difficulties in mathematics. Observation guidelines are used to obtain information about student learning characteristics. The questionnaire is used to get the needs of mathematics learning media. The data analyzed using qualitative descriptive. Research provides several results. First, most students consider learning less attractive. Second, the 2013 curriculum cannot be fully implemented in the classroom. Third, discovery learning models can improve problem-solving skills. Fourth, the design of discovery learning based learning media. This study concludes that discovery learning based media to improve problem-solving skills need to be developed. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh fakta bahwa kemampuan pemahaman dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis merupakan salah satu kemampuan matematika tingkat tinggi yang harus dimiliki oleh setiap peserta didik. Selain itu kemampuan pemahaman dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis jarang diterapkan dalam pembelajaran matematika di sekolah. Salah satu model pembelajaran yang dapat menjadi alternatif bagi pembelajaran matematika dan kemampuan pemahaman dan pemecahan masalah matematis adalah model pembelajaran IMPROVE. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penerapan i-spring suite 8 pada model pembelajaran IMPROVE untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman dan pemecahan masalah matematis peserta didik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi eksperimen karena penelitian ini menggunakan satu kelas eksperimen dan satu kelas kontrol sebagai subyek penelitian. Cara pengambilan subjek penelitian yang digunakan adalah purposive sampling. Subjek penelitian dipilih sebanyak dua kelas dari keseluruhan peserta didik kelas XI SMA Muhammadiyah Banyuresmi tahun pelajaran 2019/2020. Dari hasil penelitian dan perhitungan statistik diperoleh kesimpulan: 1) Terdapat peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman dan pemecahan masalah matematis peserta didik yang dalam pembelajarannya menggunakan i-spring suite 8 pada model pembelajaran IMPROVE; 2) Terdapat peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman dan pemecahan masalah matematis peserta didik yang dalam pembelajarannya menggunakan model pembelajaran konvensional/direct instruction; 3) Terdapat peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman dan pemecahan masalah matematis peserta didik yang dalam pembelajarannya menggunakan i-spring suite 8 pada model pembelajaran IMPROVE dibandingkan dengan peserta didik yang dalam pembelajarannya menggunakan model pembelajaran konvensional/direct instruction; 4) Tidak terdapat perbedaan kemampuan pemahaman dan pemecahan masalah matematis peserta didik yang dalam pembelajarannya menggunakan i-spring suite 8 pada model pembelajaran IMPROVE dan yang menggunakan model konvensional/direct instruction.Kata kunci: Kemampuan Pemahaman Matematis, Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Matematis, Model IMPROVEABSTRACT This research is motivated by the fact that the ability to understand and the ability to solve mathematical problems is one of the high-level mathematical abilities that must be possessed by every student. This study aims to determine the application of ispring suite 8 on the IMPROVE learning model to improve students' mathematical understanding and problem solving abilities. The research method used is quasi-experimental because this study uses one experimental class and one control class as research subjects. The method of taking the research subject used was purposive sampling. The research subjects were selected as many as two classes from all grade XI students of SMA Muhammadiyah Banyuresmi in the 2019/2020 academic year. From the results of research and statistical calculations conclusions: 1) There is an increase in the ability to understand and solve mathematical problems of students who in learning use the i-spring suite 8 on the IMPROVE learning model; 2) There is an increase in the ability of understanding and solving mathematical problems of students who in learning use conventional learning models / direct instruction; 3) There is an increase in students' mathematical understanding and problem solving abilities in learning using i-spring suite 8 in the IMPROVE learning model compared to students in learning using conventional learning models / direct instruction; 4) There is no difference in the ability to understand and solve mathematical problems of students who in learning use the i-spring suite 8 on the IMPROVE learning model and who use the conventional model / direct instruction.Keywords: Mathematical Understanding Ability, Mathematical Problem Solving Ability, IMPROVE Model

AbstrakArtikel ini menyajikan bagaimana model Pembelajaran Berbasih Masalah diterapkan pada materi pola bilangan di kelas VII Sekolah Menengah Pertama. Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah (Problem Based Learning) adalah suatu pendekatan pembelajaran yang menggunakan masalah dunia nyata sebagai suatu konteks bagi siswa untuk belajar tentang cara berfikir kritis dan keterampilan pemecahan masalah, serta untuk memperoleh pengetahuan dan konsep yang esensial dari materi pelajaran. Pembelajaran berbasis masalah digunakan untuk merangsang berfikir tingkat tinggi dalam situasi berorientasi masalah, termasuk didalamnya belajar bagaimana belajar. Adapun langkah-langkah dari model pembelajaran tersebut  memiliki 5 tahapan yaitu 1) Tahap orientasi peserta didik pada masalah, 2) Tahap mengorganisasi peserta didik dalam belajar. 3) Tahap membimbing penyelidikan secara individu maupun kelompok. 4) Tahap mengembangkan dan menyajikan hasil karya. 5) Tahap  menganalisa dan mengevaluasi proses pemecahan masalah. Selanjutnya bagaimana aktifitas guru dan siswa dalam model Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah (Problem Based Learning) dalam materi pola bilangan akan dibahas dalam artikel ini. AbstractThis article presents how the Problem-Based Learning model is applied to the numerical pattern material in Grade VII of Junior High School. Problem Based Learning is a learning approach that uses real-world problems as a context for students to learn about critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and to acquire essential knowledge and concepts from subject matter. Problem-based learning is used to stimulate high-level thinking in problem-oriented situations, including learning how to learn. The steps of the learning model have 5 stages namely 1) Stage orientation learners on the problem, 2) Stage of organizing learners in learning. 3) Stage guiding individual and group investigations. 4) Stage of developing and presenting the work. 5) Phase analyze and evaluate problem solving process. Furthermore, how the activities of teachers and students in the model of Problem Based Learning (Problem Based Learning) in the matter of number patterns will be discussed in this article.

ABSTRACTThis design research has aimed to train problem solving skill through the development of the teacher and student book prototype using guided discovery learning. The research was conducted in the first semester of the school year 2015/2016, subjects in this research is designing learning packade tested on 16 students of class IV SDN Kramat 2 Lamongan. Research and development model used in this research is 4D model using one group pretest-posttest design. The results show that: 1) the intervention are valid; 2) the implementation result of the intervention is very good, and the student activity show that the intervention is practice categorized to train problem solving skills; 3) the intervention is effective, according to the increasing of problem solving skills and students  positively respond towards intervention. It is show that the intervention is effective to train problem solving skills. Based on the result of research, it can be concluded that the teacher and student book prototype is valid, practice and effective to train students problem solving skills. Keywords: Guided Discovery Learning, Problem Solving Skill. ABSTRAK                                                                                          Penelitian ini adalah penelitian desain riset yang bertujuan untuk melatihkan keterampilan pemecahan masalah melalui pengembangan Prototipe Buku Guru dan Buku Siswa dengan pembelajaran penemuan terbimbing yang layak digunakan. Penelitian dilakukan pada semester ganjil tahun ajaran 2015/ 2016, subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah perangkat pembelajaran yang diujikan pada 16 siswa kelas IV SDN Kramat 2 Lamongan. Model penelitian dan pengembangan perangkat yang digunakan adalah model pengembangan 4-D dengan menggunakan rancangan uji coba One Group Pretest Posttest Design. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan: 1) Prototipe Buku yang dikembangkan valid untuk melatihkan keterampilan pemecahan masalah siswa; 2) keterlaksanaan RPP berkategori sangat baik dan aktivitas belajar siswa menunjukkan Prototipe Buku yang didesain terkategori praktis dalam melatihkan keterampilan pemecahan masalah siswa; 3) respon positif siswa terhadap prototipe buku dan peningkatan keterampilan pemecahan masalah siswa menunjukkan prototipe buku  yang didesain efektif untuk melatihkan keterampilan pemecahan masalah. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa Prototipe Buku Guru dan Buku Siswa berbasis pembelajaran terbimbing yang didesain valid, praktis dan efektif untuk melatihkan keterampilan pemecahan masalah. Kata kunci: Pembelajaran Terbimbing, Keterampilan Pemecahan Masalah

This research aims to describe about the profile of climber students’ self efficacy to the problem solving skills of high level mathematics problems. It is including form of descriptive research with qualitative approach. The research subjects are 13 climber students in class XI MIPA 8 of SMA Negeri 1 Jember, were tested by Adversity Response Profile (ARP) questionnaire. The method of data collection use a test of problem solving skills of high level mathematics problems, adversity response profile (ARP) questionnaire and interviews. The results of this research showed that the climber students are tend to have high  self efficacy and  able to by every Polya’s stages.

The 21st century learning process requires effective and innovative teaching materials. One teaching material that can help smooth the teaching and learning process in schools is a module. This study has two objectives. The first objective is to analyze the needs of mathematics textbooks that can improve students' problem solving abilities in accordance with the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. The second objective is to identify learning problems faced by students and analyze the suitability of textbooks with SILABUS. This study uses descriptive qualitative. The research subjects were mathematics lesson teachers and seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 09 Yogyakarta. Data on learning resources are collected by interviewing mathematics teachers. Data on students' problem solving abilities were collected by observation on class VII students. Data analysis techniques using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. This study has two results. The first result is the textbook used is not in accordance with core competencies, not in accordance with basic competencies, not in accordance with indicators of achievement of competence, and the existing questions are considered difficult by students. The second result is the absence of learning models applied in textbooks. So that a textbook is needed in the form of modules that can improve problem solving skills in students with PBL models; Teachers and students state that needing textbooks in the form of mathematical modules that can be understood, motivated in learning, there are many models of questions that are real so students agree and support the creation and development of mathematical modules to improve problem solving skills.Keywords: needs analysis; mathematics module; problem solving ability; problem based learning.

This study aims to identify the attitudes of students on the ability to solve problems with mathematics. The attitudes of students evaluated in this study include self-confidence, anxiety, enthusiasm, and self-regulated mathematics learning. The research subjects were 79 students in grade VIII. The researcher re-concentrated on three students from all of them, who had mathematical problem-solving skills in the high, medium, and low groups. These subjects were selected from students who focused on problem-solving mathematical skills, questionnaires on the attitudes of students, and interviews with researchers. The instruments used to collect were an instrument of problem-solving mathematical ability and an instrument of students’ attitudes in the form of student attitudes towards mathematics questionnaire. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The findings have shown that the majority of students are balanced between excited and unexcited on mathematics. The majority reason for students who are enthusiastic about mathematics is that they can improve their abilities, talents, and knowledge. Others have different explanations such as having the resources; formulas and problems, making them feel challenged; thinking that mathematics is important. The majority of students had a low category of self-confidence and anxiety towards mathematics, and had a moderate level of enthusiasm in mathematics and self-regulated learning.

In the context of mathematics learning, Problem Based Learning (PBL) is a mathematics learning strategy in the classroom with problem solving activities and provides more opportunities for students to think critically, creatively, reason, and communicate mathematically with their peers.  The focus of this study was the ability to solve math problems. Based on the preliminary research the students experienced errors in re-checking the synchronization of resolution with the given problem. This research was quasi experiment research. Naturally selected subjects have been formed in one intact group (naturally formed intact group). Based on the research data obtained can be described in the problem solving ability of students whose learning applies PBL learning models higher than the problem solving abilities of students with conventional learning, where the average value of the posttest in the experimental class is 71.03. This study conclude that PBL learning models give positive effect on problem solving skills on the subject of the Linear Equation System of Two Variables in class VIII MTs Muslim Cendekia Bengkulu Keywords:problem based learning, problem solving

AbstrakKemampuan pemecahan masalah merupakan tujuan pokok dari pembelajaran matematika. Penyajian masalah matematika terbuka, merupakan alternatif untuk menumbuhkembangkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah peserta didik. Agar proses pembelajaran berlangsung efektif, perlu didukung dengan perangkat pembelajaran yang relevan. Hal tersebut yang mendasari untuk melakukan penelitian pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran matematika berupa Rencana Pelaksanan Pembelajaran (RPP) dan Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik (LKPD) berbasis model pembelajaran penemuan dengan masalah open ended, yang dapat memberikan pengalaman belajar kepada peserta didik dalam keterampilan, menyelidiki, dan memecahkan masalah yang berkaitan dengan dunia nyata serta menyelesaikan masalah-masalah terbuka. Jenis penelitian adalah penelitian pengembangan menggunakan model Plomp yang terdiri dari tiga fase yaitu preliminary research, prototype, dan asessment phase. Pada fase preliminary research dilakukan analisis berupa analisis kebutuhan, analisis peserta didik, analisis kurikulum, serta analisis konsep. Dari hasil analisis yang telah dilakukan diperoleh informasi bahwa perlunya pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran yang dapat meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah peserta didik. Pada fase prototype dilakukan perancangan produk yaitu RPP dan LKPD berbasis model pembelajaran penemuan dengan masalah open ended untuk kelas X semester 2. Pada fase asessment phase dilakukan uji praktikalitas dan uji efektivitas. Penelitian pengembangan yang akan dilaksanakan ini, diharapkan dapat memperoleh perangkat pembelajaran matematika berbasis model pembelajaran penemuan dengan masalah open ended untuk kelas X SMA yang memiliki karakteristik valid, praktis dan efektif.Kata Kunci: pengembangan, perangkat pembelajaran, model pembelajaran penemuan, masalah open ended.AbstractProblem solving skills are the main objectives of mathematics learning. Presentation of open math problems, is an alternative to develop the problem solving ability of learners. In order for the learning process to be effective, it needs to be supported with relevant learning tools. This is the basis for conducting research on the development of mathematics learning tools in the form of Learning Implementation Plan (RPP) and Student Learning Sheet (LKPD) based on discovery learning model with open ended problem, which can provide learners experience in skills, investigate, and solve Problems related to the real world and solving open problems. The type of research is a development study using a Plomp model consisting of three phases: preliminary research, prototype, and asessment phase. In the preliminary research phase, analysis is done in the form of needs analysis, learner analysis, curriculum analysis, and concept analysis. From the results of the analysis has been obtained information that the need for the development of learning tools that can improve students' problem solving skills. In the prototype phase, the product design is RPP and LKPD based on discovery learning model with open ended problem for class X semester 2. In the phase phase phase, it is tested by practicality and effectiveness test. The development research that will be carried out is expected to be able to obtain the learning device of mathematics based on discovery learning model with open ended problem for class X high school that has valid, practical and effective characteristics.Keyword: Development, learning device, discovery learning model, open ended problem.

Problem solving is a process to fix the difficulties encountered the achievement a goal to be achieved. To improve the ability of problem solving mathematical, one of them by learning to use the Open-Ended approach. Open-Ended approach to discuss and solve problems with the assumption that the process is more important than the result. Open-Ended approach gives flexibility to the student to put the answer. This study aims to improve students' mathematical problem solving ability after using the Open-Ended approach. To lead to these objectives, this study examines the mathematical problem solving ability of students in mathematics learning with the Open-Ended approach in every cycle. This research was conducted by the method of action research with research subjects students of class IX MTs Special Program. Darussalam Ciamis, the number of students as subject is 22 students. The instrument used in this study is the observation sheet that covers the activities of teachers and students; formative test and posttest to measure students' mathematical problem solving ability. The results of this study are mathematical problem solving ability of students in each cycle is good, as well as the completeness of classical study categorized either. This research is motivated by the purpose of education to obtain good learning outcomes. Such success depends on internal and external factors, as one part of the internal factor is problem solving skills. The existence of problem-solving skills students can more easily overcome problems encountered when learning or designed by teachers. The purpose of this study was to find out the comparison of students' PPKn learning outcomes between the Discovery Learning model and the Think Pair and Share model, also to find out the comparison of PPKn learning outcomes of students who have high problem solving skills with students who have low problem solving skills, and also to know the interaction between the learning model and problem solving skills to the learning outcomes of PPKn students in grade IV of Diski Catholic Elementary School. This study using quantitative approach with the results of the study showed that the results of ppkn students with Discovery Learning model is higher than the learning results of PPKn students with Think Pair and Share model, evidenced from Qhitung > Qtabel (4,344 > 2,814; with a level of 5%). PPKn learning outcomes of students who have high problem-solving skills are higher than ppkn learning outcomes of students who have low problem-solving skills, as evidenced by Qhitung > Qtabel (3,030 > 2,814; with a level of 5%). There is an interaction between learning models and problem-solving skills to students' PPKn learning outcomes, as evidenced by Fhitung > Ftabel which is 8.59 > 4.20. The conclusion of this study explains that the learning outcomes of students who have high and low skills are more suitable to be taught with discovery learning models than students who are taught using the Think Pair Share model.
