The actors’ welfare of marine fishery supply chain in the three sub-districts in Kangean Islands, namely Sapeken, Arjasa and Kangayan, are different even though they access to the same marine fisheries resources. The marine fisheries in Sapeken are more prosperous than those in Arjasa and Kangayan. This study aimed at identifying the distribution channel patterns of marine fishery products supply chain in Kangean Islands which providing an explanation of the actors’ welfare differences. In-depth interviews with various actors were conducted to formulate the distribution channel patterns of marine fishery products. Quantitative survey data of 102 respondents from marine fisheries were processed descriptively to determine the actors’ welfare. Research showed that the distribution channel patterns in Arjasa and Kangayan vary but are limited in the local market and the islands communities as the final consumers. It causes the low products prices. Meanwhile, the distribution pattern in the Sapeken is able to penetrate markets outside the Kangean Islands with high product prices. Therefore, it is not surprising if the actors’ welfare in Arjasa and Kangayan sub districts are lower than the actors’ welfare in Sapeken.

Bangladesh is a developing country and agriculture is the largest sector of the economy. Agricultural producers, food producers, and handicrafts producers are not getting the proper price. Because, Bangladesh fully depends on the intermediaries because of improper infrastructure in supply chain of their product and shortage of capital as well literacy. A baseline study entitled “Development of marketing and distribution channel to ensure fair price for the products of Cooperative Societies under Department of Cooperatives” was conducted primarily to find out the present scenario of producing, selling, and supply chain of products of producers under cooperative society which would examine the challenges in productions, selling and supply chain for the producers of cooperative society, also analyze Time, Cost and Visit (TCV) regarding selling of produced goods and finally to find a way to mitigate these challenges. In this study, purposive sampling method was used for determining the sample where more than 160 respondents were selected as sample size. 34% people had to give commission to the whole seller and there was higher transportation cost. 34% of producers said that they sold their products at lower price; some people (40%) got their products price lately. There was also money collection problem (33%). Most of the farmers were illiterate and for that reason, they did not have the ability to sell their products in the international market and also nationwide, they just only sold to local market. Ministry of local Government & Cooperative Society could play a vital role to bring formation within the framework of Cooperative Society and could minimize the role of middlemen of marketing agricultural products of Bangladesh.

Pharmaceutical products are considered sensitive products that require a well-managed distribution channel as they impact human lives. The aim of this research is to investigate the applicability of improving the downstream of the pharmaceutical supply chain (distribution channel) in Egypt through developing an E-business system. The study has adopted a deductive approach. Qualitative and quantitative methodologies were followed respectively. Qualitative in-depth interviews were conducted to get a better understanding of the situation in Egypt followed by a structured survey to test and verify the significance and the relation of the extracted variables using statistical tools. This resulted in highlighting significant variables impacting the relationship between pharmaceutical retailers (pharmacies) and consumers and the applicability of introducing an e-business retailing application that improves downstream chain performance by facilitating transactions i.e. easily locating the required medicine, matching consumers and retailers and spotting the inventory level in the distribution channel for better management solutions.

<p>The fishery and marine sector is one of the sectors that is expected to contribute to the recovery efforts of the Indonesian economy. However, marine and fishery<br />development as the main pillar of the national economy still requires the struggle and endless hard work of all its stakeholders. Regional autonomy requires the Region to participate and be responsible in the development process in its own region in the framework of realizing equitable development. This article concludes that Article 18 of Law no. 32 of 2004 became the basis of legal construction that designed the scenario of autonomous management of fishery resources in regions that have marine territory by giving authority to manage resources in marine areas. The lack of clarity on the regulation of autonomous authority over control of marine fisheries resources among regions has the potential to result in interpretations that are not in line with the law and the conflict between marine fishery resources between regions.</p>

PurposeCurrent literature provides limited insights into the supply chain contexts within which e-commerce can create higher value for firms. To address this literature gap, this research explores the value potential, and thus value creation process, of e-commerce initiatives for supply chain distribution channel expansions.Design/methodology/approachUsing secondary data collected from multiple sources, this research conducted an event study to examine the stock market reactions to the announcements of e-commerce initiatives of Chinese firms.FindingsThe results indicate that the e-commerce initiatives increase average firm value by CNY 295.29 million in a three-day window around the initiative's announcement date. Moreover, we find that such stock market reactions are more positive for firms with poor operating performance, and more negative when firms deploy initiatives on their own (rather than third-party) platforms. Further, companies that integrate or complement their online sales with an offline sales channel experience more positive stock market reactions.Originality/valueThis study provides new insights into the value creation process of e-commerce from an operation and supply chain process perspective.

It is very important to promote the competitiveness of marine fisheries, protect marine ecology, and explore the sustainable development of marine fisheries. In this regard, this article analyzes the development trend of marine fisheries, analyzes the current problems in marine fishery governance, and explores effective countermeasures for the development of marine fishery governance, hoping to provide some ideas for promoting marine fishery governance and enhancing the benefits of marine fishery development.

Siam orange is a horticultural commodity that is very suitable and suitable for soil conditions for cultivation in tidal swamps. Wrong one area for the development of the Siam Banjar orange in South Kalimantan is located in the Barito Regency Kuala. As one of the agricultural commodities, Siam Banjar orange has high enough risk, so it needs good management in terms of this is called risk management. This study aims to identify Siam Banjar orange distribution channels, identify and analyze risks that occur in the supply chain distribution channel of Siam Banjar oranges, as well measure the risk on each member of the supply chain and search for those members that have the greatest risk. The data analysis method used is descriptive analysis, methods Analytical Network Process (ANP) and Weighted Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (WFMEA) to analyze the risks that occur and find members supply chain that has the greatest risk in the supply chain distribution channel Siam Banjar oranges in Barito Kuala Regency. From this research, it is found that the distribution channel of Siam orange Banjar in Barito Kuala Regency generally consists of farmers and traders, collectors, wholesalers and retailers and applied through five structures. A more accurate risk analysis result with the WFMEA method, value WRPN obtained for price risk (151.424), transportation risk (52.875), risk supply (52.380), quality risk (51.858), production risk (50.165) and risk environment (5.888). The results of the priority assessment of the Siam orange supply chain actors Banjar with the ANP method, namely farmers (0.371), traders (0.128), wholesalers (0.360) and retailers (0.142). This research was conducted in the Tannery Industry in Garut – Indonesia, about suplly chain management, research methods using qualitative method, with a single case study. In this case study researchers collecting data through observation, interviews and in-depth interviews with entrepreneurs, academics and expert tannery. Supply Chain Management, in this case, describe the process of delivery of the goods from the supplier, and then processed by the industry, the result posted by the distributor to the subscriber. The Supply Chain Management must provide a level of efficiency in the process of delivering customer value, so that customers can be more satisfied, or in other words from the center (supplier), Company, Chanels (distribution) and Customer (4C). Supply Chain Management will be effective in improving the competitiveness of the industry, either by the supplier of the raw material leather, leather chemicals, leather production machinery, spare parts, and also any other relevant parties if able to improve cooperation between the core industry, supporting industry, and related industry is strong, so each others corroborate (linkage), as well as the distribution of goods to the customer must be of high quality and on time.

Problem definition: We consider the effects of strategic inventory (SI) in the presence of chain-to-chain competition in a two-period model. Academic/practical relevance: Established findings suggest that SI may alleviate double marginalization and improve the efficiency of a decentralized distribution channel. However, no studies consider the role of SI under chain-to-chain competition. Methodology: We build a two-period model consisting of two competing supply chains, each with an upstream manufacturer and an exclusive retailer. The retailers compete on either price or quantity. We characterize the firms’ strategies under the concept of perfect Bayesian equilibrium. We consider cases where contracts are either observable or unobservable across supply chains. Results: (1) SI still exists under chain-to-chain competition. Retailers may carry more inventory when the competition becomes fiercer, which further intensifies the supply chain competition. (2) Different from the existing findings, SI may backfire and hurt all firms. Interestingly, firms may benefit from a higher inventory holding cost. (3) Under supply chain competition, the prisoner’s dilemma can arise if competition intensity is intermediate; in other words, manufacturers are better off without strategic inventory, and yet they cannot help allowing strategic inventory, which is the unique equilibrium. Managerial implications: Despite its appeal among firms of a single supply chain, the role of SI is altered or even reversed by chain-to-chain competition. Conventional wisdom on SI should be applied with caution.

This chapter addresses the issue of marketing higher education institutions through education agents, focusing on ways to gain a competitive advantage over other institutions in the context of increasing global competition while maintaining close management and governance of this distribution channel. Qualitative in-depth interviews were conducted with 31 Australian university international marketing managers and staff, and 16 education agents based in Australia and overseas. The findings show seven main themes, namely, service and support, joint promotion, incentives, training, gifts, social activities, and relationship enhancement. The contributions of this chapter are the provision of experiences, ideas, attitudes, and perspectives of how Australian universities work in partnership with education agents throughout the world to recruit international students in an increasingly competitive marketplace, whilst ensuring obligations are met under Australian international education legislation. This chapter provides marketing specialists, educational administrators, and policy makers with practical real life examples of motivational and management techniques.
